About this property

Charming former railway cottage in peaceful setting. Close to local amenities.

Sleeps 4, with 2 bedrooms. One with double bed, one with twin beds.

La Braudière was built in the 19th century, to operate the barrier over the railway line. Nowadays, the railway tracks are just a distant memory, leaving miles of leafy, tree lined paths, meandering through woods and open countryside. A walker's paradise!

This charming stone cottage has been thoughtfully renovated, with lots of original features – a successful blend of original character and modern comfort. It is simply and tastefully furnished, and the overall effect is bright, light and fresh.

Set on its own, the house is surrounded by fields, tracks, rivers and woodlands, perfect for exploring by foot, by bike, or maybe walking the dog! You're not too far from civilisation, however, as only 2 kms away is the village of La Trimouille, where you will find a well stocked grocery shop (including bread and pastries), café/restaurant, post office, pharmacy, and cinema.

Located in the department of the Vienne, with its peaceful countryside, ancient castles and medieval towns and villages, La Braudière provides a brilliant base for a holiday. Enjoy the local amenities. Settle into the slower pace of French life with a leisurely amble through the lanes, rich with wildlife. Explore the many tourist attractions of the area. Or simply sit in the garden, with a glass of wine, enjoying the spectacular night skies. Whatever you enjoy, there is something for everyone.

Wonderful place to stay
This really is a great place to stay- full of history. The Gite is so well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The beds are really comfy and sleeping in the peace and quiet was perfect. Although you feel you are surrounded by countryside it is only a short walk along a disused railway track to La Trimouille that has an amazing artisan bakery. Our dog loved all the walks and freedom. Joanne metis when we arrived and showed us around which was great after a long drive. She was always at the end of the phone if we needed any help. The surrounding area us full of beautiful villages and it really is a perfect place to stay. Thankyou Joanne- we highly recommend your Gite to everyone.

Peaceful
Booked a week to explore the area and some quiet R&R. The house is lovely and set is an area not too far and walkable to the village but far enough to be as if in the middle of nowhere.

Perfect Get Away Cottage
After a long drive down we were warmly greeted by Jo with a bottle of wine and nibbles to help us relax - thank you! This cottage is absolutely brilliant for local walks, and not too far away to get the groceries either (although the car is required). The house was perfect and had just what we needed - including peace and quiet, and very comfortable beds.

My husband and I came to live in France, attracted by the peace and tranquillity, beautiful countryside, and gentler pace of living, and it didn't disappoint.

Why they chose this property

We love this railway cottage, and it's fascinating history of steam trains and days gone by.

In this quiet corner of France, we feel truly relaxed. The house is thankfully cool in the summer, and cosy in the winter. We love to stroll along the former tracks, set up the barbecue, or simply sit in the garden with a glass of wine. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as we do....
