About Rosie

Retired and currently residing in the Midlands

Rosie purchased this cottage in 1968

Why Rosie chose Fachwen

This cottage was discovered by my mother and renovated by my father who was a master builder, and has been maintained by me since my parents' death. My mother thought of it as her dream.

What makes this cottage unique

Probably the best view from any holiday cottage, with lots of charm from the traditional 200 year old stone built cottage

Beautiful location- stunning

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful location overlooking the river and mountains including Mount Snowdon. Cottage is equipped with what you require including an open fire. Downsides are the slope to and fro the cottage which is very very hard going especially when you have to carry things up or down and is quite far down to reach cottage. Also although it has an open fire, storage heaters and electric blankets we still found it very cold, the bedrooms ok heated up nicely but bathroom and kitchen freezing, also we were constantly feeding the electric meter pound coins but that is more probable of the weather we had, which was snow and rain. Also we never managed to get the shower working, which was a great let down. Overall this a lovely old cottage in an excellent location with stunning views and wildlife, but just come prepared.

Owner's Response: Sorry the weather was so cold! There is however a good heater on the wall in the bathroom - did you not see this? The electric meter is set at just below cost. The button to convert the bath tap to shower is admittedly a bit stiff, but it was set to shower when you arrived.

Amazing views, roaring fire, cosy cottage

  • 5 of 5

We spent a very memorable few days at this little cottage in Fachwen over the lake from Llanberis. The views of the mountains constantly change as the weather roles in. It’s like stepping back in time with the roaring fire in the huge hearth, board games and plenty to read. We loved it!

Cottage was very private and tucked away. The cottage has lots of character and the view is amazing. We would love to go back again one day.

Cosy, friendly and fantastic view!

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyable time with great walks near to cottage and mountains around. Lovely sitting at table watching the birds on feeder and taking in the view. The drive was certainly a steep walk up to car but no doubt good for fitness levels and beautiful suroundings. We did find the cottage a little chilly in the evenings until we worked out how to get the fire going well. Great place hope to come back again
