Overview

About the property

Situated overlooking a lake this cosy cottage comes with wildlife as neighbours

Refurbished to a high standard in 2016 this delightful cottage is situated in a rural location with direct views onto a picturesque lake. It's one of 11 cottages on a private development and has been decorated in a modern country style by its Interior Designer owner.

With rural views back and front, and an abundance of wildlife on the lake, it will suit couples and families alike who long to escape the stresses of everyday life.

It's also ideally situated for the nearby beaches, countryside of North Norfolk, the Broads, and the seaside towns of this wonderful coast. The city of Norwich is a half hour drive away.

A key feature of the cottage is it's peaceful setting for the fishing enthusiast. Fishing is free on the 2 lakes on the adjoining property which are fenced with otter proof fencing which can be fished using the free day permits. These lakes are for the serious angler and fish include very large roach, rudd, perch and bream which run to double figures, large tench and carp.

Children need to be supervised at all times as the lake is 8ft in depth.

The accommodation offers two bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin. All beds have comfortable memory foam mattresses. Bathroom: bath with shower over and heated towel rail. Lounge/kitchen/diner: with flatscreen TV and DVD player and patio doors. Kitchen area with fridge/freezer, electric oven/hob and microwave. Utility room: shared, with washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside: enclosed patio with seating, with access to the lakes. Amenities: parking for 2 cars. Bed linen, towels, tea towels, electric and central heating included.

Regret no pets.

Location: beach 3 miles, shops 2.5 miles and pub walking distance (a 15 minute walk).

Why Carole and Colin chose Norfolk Broads

We were first attracted to Brimstone because of its beautiful setting and peaceful ambience. Craving a bolt-hole from our busy lives we jumped at the chance of having a holiday home where we could relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of a rural location. To have a lake in the back garden teeming with wildlife was the icing on the cake and we have lovingly updated the interior to a high standard and one which we hope does the location justice.

What makes this cottage unique

Serious anglers can fish in the carp lake on the adjoining property for which licences are included in the holiday price.

A gorgeous cottage, beautifully designed in the perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Norfolk. The cottage looks onto a beautiful garden / stretch of green and the river runs just meters from the back garden which we all enjoyed! There were swans and geese and fishing right there . My little one really loved the sense of freedom ! The cottage itself was very stylish and comfortable, with everything we needed and there was so much to do in the surrounding area! Norfolk is great for kids and adults. The fishery is just a two minute walk from the cottage and this was like a natural haven with an abundance of wildlife. The local pub was very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to go back when the weather warms up! Thanks for having us

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

Charmingly decorated and equipped - with the exception of the rather gloomy grey in the hall, perhaps - excellent location, lots of walks and bird life and near some interesting places e.g. Stalham Staithe Broads Museum, East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens, Waxham Barn. Great view from patio - and, indeed, from sitting room (well appointed and comfortable). Mobile signal very poor but possible up lane at short distance from cottage - turn left from property and then right towards Happisburgh at crossroads. Certainly somewhere to which we should love to return.

Very well presented and comprehensively equipped.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is small, but makes good use of all the available space, with an attractive and tastefully furnished open plan ground floor. Lovely private patio with direct views of the small lake. Very peaceful.surroundings.

Second time visit

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit in less than a year. We stayed for Easter weekend and although it wasn't as warm as last July the weather was kind to us and it didn't rain until we were home for the day! The cottage is still just as beautiful and peaceful as it was before. We went to Happisburgh this year and went up the lighthouse which our 5 year old loved. We also visited Fellbrigg Hall which we enjoyed.

The cottage has everything you need and you will notice when you read the visitors book that everyone who goes absolutely loves it.

Cosy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was beautifully decorated, homely and comfortable. The local area was peaceful and calming. Access to Norfolk easy by car and lots of things to see and do. A winning place I plan to visit again.
