About the property

Situated overlooking a lake this cosy cottage comes with wildlife as neighbours

Refurbished to a high standard in 2016 this delightful cottage is situated in a rural location with direct views onto a picturesque lake. It's one of 11 cottages on a private development and has been decorated in a modern country style by its Interior Designer owner.

With rural views back and front, and an abundance of wildlife on the lake, it will suit couples and families alike who long to escape the stresses of everyday life.

It's also ideally situated for the nearby beaches, countryside of North Norfolk, the Broads, and the seaside towns of this wonderful coast. The city of Norwich is a half hour drive away.

A key feature of the cottage is it's peaceful setting for the fishing enthusiast. Fishing is free on the 2 lakes on the adjoining property which are fenced with otter proof fencing which can be fished using the free day permits. These lakes are for the serious angler and fish include very large roach, rudd, perch and bream which run to double figures, large tench and carp.

Children need to be supervised at all times as the lake is 8ft in depth.

The accommodation offers two bedrooms: 1 double and 1 twin. All beds have comfortable memory foam mattresses. Bathroom: bath with shower over and heated towel rail. Lounge/kitchen/diner: with flatscreen TV and DVD player and patio doors. Kitchen area with fridge/freezer, electric oven/hob and microwave. Utility room: shared, with washing machine and tumble dryer. Outside: enclosed patio with seating, with access to the lakes. Amenities: parking for 2 cars. Bed linen, towels, tea towels, electric and central heating included.

Regret no pets.

Location: beach 3 miles, shops 2.5 miles and pub walking distance (a 15 minute walk).

Why Carole and Colin chose Norfolk Broads

We were first attracted to Brimstone because of its beautiful setting and peaceful ambience. Craving a bolt-hole from our busy lives we jumped at the chance of having a holiday home where we could relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of a rural location. To have a lake in the back garden teeming with wildlife was the icing on the cake and we have lovingly updated the interior to a high standard and one which we hope does the location justice.

What makes this cottage unique

Serious anglers can fish in the carp lake on the adjoining property for which licences are included in the holiday price.

Cosy Cottage

The cottage was beautifully decorated, homely and comfortable. The local area was peaceful and calming. Access to Norfolk easy by car and lots of things to see and do. A winning place I plan to visit again.

Beautiful cottage and location. Loved the decor, and home comforts. Great pubs locally. Ruston Reaches is beautiful ... great outlook on the small fishing lake, lots of wildlife. Do as much or as little as you like. A relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle. Waking up to the sound of sheep in the field opposite, instead of traffic! Bliss. Thanks, Carole and Colin.

Perfect

My family and I spent 3 nights at this property for half-term and cannot wait to rebook!

The decor and overall accommodation is fantastic in every way - with a beautiful lake view.

My husband and son enjoyed trying out the fishing on both lakes whilst I managed to relax in the quiet surroundings.

Modern country retreat.

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful, modern cottage. It was clean, homely, quiet and friendly. The cottage had everything you could possibly need. There was so much information given we planned out weekend from the comfort of the cottage. The seals at horsey gap are something not to be missed, we took the short walk to the pub which was very friendly and went to Winterton on Sea for a lovely carvery. The views from the cottage are lovely especially the lake and I feel the owners have thought of everything. We will be visiting again.

Stunning, Modern, Cosy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect break, the Cottage is beautiful. the Decor is stunning and has everything you need. We enjoyed the view of the lake and the swans were a regular visitors for breakfast. The Cottage is in the ideal location, you have so many things to do and visit with a short car drive. We will most certainly be going back but maybe in the summer this time, so we can enjoy the patio with a glass of wine in the evening.

Very clean and tidy.

  • 4 of 5

The property is very quiet with views over the lake with ducks and swans. Somewhat remote without wifi and no mobile phone signal which is a bit of an issue. Had to drive about a mile to get a signal to enable a reasonable conversation. Enjoyed our stay which was a welcome break and enabled us to visit some lovely parts of The Broads. The Boathouse is a great restaurant at Ormsebury St Mary (?). Suggest you avoid The Swan at Stalham. Ranworth Broad is a must with a trip out to the conservation centre and the steam boat trip from the Broads Museum is good. The lighthouse at Happisburgh is only open on Sundays, the Church tower on Saturdays and the Owls only by private viewing!!

Owner's Response: Hi Tony, Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. We'd love to be able to offer wifi but it's a rural area without the necessary infrastructure. Thinks move slowly in Norfolk. Ditto mobile reception - it depends which network you are on. We have had guests comment that it actually aided relaxation. Despite those things, we're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you come back soon. Regards, Carole and Colin
