Why Carole and Colin chose East Ruston

We were first attracted to Brimstone because of its beautiful setting and peaceful ambience. Craving a bolt-hole from our busy lives we jumped at the chance of having a holiday home where we could relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of a rural location. To have a lake in the back garden teeming with wildlife was the icing on the cake and we have lovingly updated the interior to a high standard and one which we hope does the location justice.

What makes this cottage unique

Serious anglers can fish in the carp lake on the adjoining property for which licences are included in the holiday price.

A gorgeous cottage, beautifully designed in the perfect setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in Norfolk. The cottage looks onto a beautiful garden / stretch of green and the river runs just meters from the back garden which we all enjoyed! There were swans and geese and fishing right there . My little one really loved the sense of freedom ! The cottage itself was very stylish and comfortable, with everything we needed and there was so much to do in the surrounding area! Norfolk is great for kids and adults. The fishery is just a two minute walk from the cottage and this was like a natural haven with an abundance of wildlife. The local pub was very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to go back when the weather warms up! Thanks for having us

A hidden gem in Norfolk

  • 5 of 5

We had a really enjoyable break at the lovely Brimstone Cottage. On arrival we all agreed the cottage was more spacious than we thought from the photos we had seen. The cottage was so light, clean and beautifully decorated that our spirits were immediately lifted despite the mist and rain. Lots of useful information was provided in the cottage and a book of East Anglian gardens inspired us to visit The Old Vicarage gardens. Definitely worth a visit, as is Horsey beach to see the Seals (we weren't expecting so many!), followed by lunch in Poppylands Tearooms. We hope to return to Brimstone Cottage and would strongly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing time with wonderful views from the living area.

Fabulous cottage, rural location, perfect relaxation spot!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four have just spent 3 nights at this beautiful, stylish cottage. The setting around the lake is so peaceful, we slept with the windows open and woke to the sound of birdsong, it was so refreshing. The cottage is equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay.

We travelled around the Norfolk coast from Horsey to Hunstanton taking in lots of places in between. We all agreed that the highlight of our holiday was the seal colony at Horsey - an absolute must if you stay in Norfolk.

Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage, our family really enjoyed our stay.

Edited to say, we are so disappointed to receive bad feedback from the owners of this property. We left the property spotless, but forgot to empty an upstairs bin which had sleep pants in (which hadn't been soiled), so please take photos of the cottage when you leave, the cleaner has reported back to the owners saying we left the cottage in a bad way - we had taken the kitchen bin rubbish and put it in the outside bins provided - the cleaner said we didn't do this. I accidentally left rubbish in the bedroom bin and this was reported to the owner. You are requested to strip the beds on your departure, I did this and piled them up in readiness for the cleaner - in all the places we have stayed in before we have never been requested to do this but did it. So please watch yourself with this cleaner, we saw her arrive at the property 2 doors down and she was in and out in 15 minutes, so not a thorough clean in my view.

Owner's Response: Hi Jason, I'm really sorry you felt the need to amend your initial glowing review. After my telephone conversation with your wife I thought that we had cleared up the misunderstanding of the nappies. I did not for the record give you any bad public feedback. Your wife also told me that the cottage was spotless when you arrived so I don't think you can say it is not cleaned thoroughly. I do know that the cleaner initially picks up laundry first thing and returns later to clean, which is why you saw her arrive and leave 15 minutes later. Thank you for writing lovely things too in the visitors book.I look forward to reading them next time we are at the cottage. With kind regards, Carole
