For either short or extended holidays, a detached, pet friendly Cotswold cottag

‘Thames Rest’ is the perfect base for simply 'chilling' by the River Thames, or for the active, miles of attractive footpaths with the dog, swimming, canoeing or cycling around the estate and exploring historic Cirencester, the Cotswold’s and the surrounding area. We welcome pets and can offer significant discounts for extended rentals.

Approached past a charming lily pond, built of the local ‘Cotswold-stone’ and situated in a quiet corner of Mill Village, on the bank of the River Thames, pet friendly ‘Thames Rest’ is a detached, central heated, comfortable three bedroom cottage, traditionally furnished, a family ‘week-end’ and home from home:

With a spacious open plan ground floor, settees surround a large, wood burning stove and television, Wi-Fi, books and games. Three French-windows lead onto Private decks to the side and rear of the house, with comfortable seating and dining areas overlooking the River Thames. A fourth set of doors lead into a modern, well-equipped kitchen;

On the first floor, there are three bedrooms, two comfortable en-suite double bedrooms, both featuring high ceilings and French-windows leading onto private balconies, an additional, cozy third bedroom/dressing room, suitable for a teenager and/or a child and a ‘family’ bathroom; comfortable accommodation for two couples or a family.

For Christmas and New Year; with under floor heating and a wood burning stove, festively decorated, a cosy family Christmas or New Year?

Lower Mill Estate is a secure and exclusive, extended nature reserve with diverse bird life, deer and even beaver! The property enjoys a dedicated parking space and on the far bank of the Thames, an area of foreshore to Mill Lake, including fishing rights. Regret, we cannot offer access to the on-site Spa, but do have unrestricted access to a heated outdoor swimming pool, adjacent sauna and tennis courts. Within the estate are a pub and brasserie, the ‘Ballihoo’ and a small village shop, together with cycle and canoe hire.

We welcome extended stays as a base in the area, or perhaps a summer 'holiday home' without the hassle of maintenance etc and with pets welcome, we can agree discounted contracts for two, three weeks or one month or longer, inclusive of utilities and heating, with an option for cleaning and laundry too if required and can be flexible on start and finishing dates by agreement.

Stunning house and location

The house is beautifully proportioned, layed out, furnished and decorated. The owners had great communication and were very welcoming. The location is on a beautiful nature reserve/estate and is outstanding. The house is positioned in a private position at the edge of the estate and is surrounded (literally) by a small river and a beautiful pond. It really is a stunning holiday house. If there are dates free we would definitely love to come back.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home, even the weather couldn't spoil it!

We had a great time, loads of things to do for young and old even in the rain. Children enjoyed swimming in the outdoor heated pool and lots of tennis. Elderly parents loved strolling around the lakes and taking in the wildlife. We had lots of furry visitors including a lovely rabbit, woodpecker, heron, moorhens and lots of little birds too many to mention on the decking. Under floor heating and log burner absolutely heaven. Beds were so comfy none of us wanted to get up! Lyn and Richard met us at the house and were lovely and showed us how to use everything and left us with some yummy goodies to start us off. Tesco delivered a full shop with no problems at all. Chip shop in South Cerney was only 10 minutes by car and a real treat on the first night. Cirencester only 20 minutes away. I needed out of hours antibiotics for tonsillitis during my stay and was seen in Cirencester hospital within 4 hours of my call and received excellent service. All in all, a great stay in a lovely home in an ideal location.

Wonderful and relaxing, very spacious comfortable house, highly recommend

Lovely welcome, by lovely owners, lovely touch with tea, coffee, chocolate biscuits and a very nice bottle of red wine. Loved the log burner, fully equipped kitchen, very spacious, lovely and cosy, would definitely come back, all showers were perfect and lovely and hot, great for exploring beautiful area, amazing walks.

Great property, great location

Lovely, clean, spacious cottage. The owners have thought of every comfort needed to make a holiday on the Lower Mill Estate really enjoyable. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage has a lovely atmosphere. The surrounding decking is great, ensuring that you can get sun or shade virtually all day long.

Would highly recommend to my friends.
