Beautiful, tranquil - a perfect hideaway!
Green Retreat was an absolutely perfect place to stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It is incredibly peaceful, and the garden and outside seating areas are lovely places to just sit, admire the view, listen to the cicadas and while away time relaxing.
The house itself is very small, but very well-equipped and clean and modern. Being there in August, we spent our entire time outside, and the outdoor shower (beautifully refreshing after a day on the beach) and washing-up area mean that you can really enjoy the outside space to its full advantage.
Spatia itself is a very traditional Greek village, with two supermarkets and a café and restaurant, all of which were very good, especially the café and restaurant, and the shops were well-stocked but more expensive than the bigger supermarkets (there is a great, much cheaper one just on the way to Argostoli, only about 10 mins drive away).
George and Dennis could not have been more welcoming, from George's WhatsApp messages before we arrived, answering all the questions I had before our trip, to Dennis' daily (but completely unobtrusive) visits every morning with fresh fruit/oil/vegetables/eggs, we felt very well looked after and cared for. We had no issues at all, but I am sure if we had, George and Dennis would have sorted us out in no time.
I would thoroughly recommend Green Retreat for a relaxing, carefree, tranquil holiday, and Spatia is a perfect place from which to base yourself to visit the whole island. We completely fell in love with Kefalonia, and the people who live there. Thank you.
