Finca El Olivar is a luxurious, spacious and extremely comfortable, four bedroom finca set within its own olive grove and surrounded by rolling farmland with panoramic views of the mountains of theSerranía de Ronda, Sierra de las Nieves and Grazelema National Park. The house is luxuriously furnished and beautifully decorated in a contemporary style to create a large, comfortable home with a layout that is ideal for families or groups of friends but is also suited to a romantic break for two.


From the south terrace, antique double doors open onto the entrance hall with a beautifully decorated, separate wc (handily close to the pool). Double doors open into the kitchen and beyond the wide staircase, double doors open into the sitting room.

The large, airy, open plan sitting room leads onto the dining area and kitchen and has views through the french doors onto the south terrace overlooking the pool and garden and double doors out to the east terrace with its huge oak dining table looking towards the olive grove.

With a luxuriously proportioned linen sofa for total relaxation, a desk area for those that must catch up on a few things or write a postcard home and an open plan layout that is great for families, the sitting room is perfect for large groups.

With Wi-fi throughout, a naim audio wireless music system, smart tv, DVD player and a wide selection of games for all ages there is something to keep everyone happy. Original artwork, antique pieces and vintage finds sit comfortably alongside more contemporary pieces. For the cooler months there is a large wood burning stove.

The dining area seats up to ten and lies at the very centre of the house, connecting the kitchen and sitting room and inviting evening games and leisurely meals. A door leads out to the shady north side of the house with lovely views of the hills. This is the ideal spot for a little solitude.

The kitchen is beautifully integrated into the open plan layout and equipped for the keenest cook. French doors lead onto the west terrace with stunning mountain views, perfect for a relaxing drink at sunset. The kitchen has a dishwasher, wine cooler, a Neff induction hob and oven and Gaggia Bean to cup coffee maker whilst the well stocked pantry houses a microwave, food blender and American style fridge freezer with integrated ice maker.


All four bedrooms have air-conditioning for the long, hot summers and heating for the short, frosty winters. Shutters ensure a good night’s sleep, as do the luxuriously comfortable, hotel standard, pocket sprung mattresses and Egyptian cotton bed linen. All bedding is hypoallergenic with lightweight duvets for the summer and thick, cosy duvets for the winter. Cool terracotta floors, high, sloping ceilings with whitewashed beams and natural materials create a very restful atmosphere. The bathrooms are luxuriously styled with beautiful tiles, hotel standard fittings and sumptuous Egyptian cotton towels.

The romantic and spacious master bedroom has a super kingsize oak, four poster bed with luxurious mattress topper, muslin drape and views of the mountains to the west. The ensuite bathroom has a stone resin freestanding bath and hand shower with views over the garden and olive groves beyond that invites a leisurely soak. Limestone tiles and a stone sink create a rustic feel to this room. The master bedroom has a lovely seating area, a fitted wardrobe and is equipped with hairdryer and ghd straighteners.

Bedroom two has gorgeously comfortable zip and link beds that can be arranged as either twin beds or as a luxurious emperor sized bed. A lovely daybed that is also a full size single can make this a triple room. Spacious and comfortable, in the style of a boutique hotel, this room has a full length mirror and fitted wardrobe.

Bedroom three has fabulous views to the south, a luxuriously comfortable double bed and fitted wardrobe. Decorated in a pared back, modern style, in a soothing, neutral palette, bedroom three has original artwork and etchings by a local artist and several carefully selected antiques.

Bedroom four also has stunning views, a superbly comfortable double bed with cotton mosquito net (this is fully functional but there are no mosquitoes in the area) a vintage school desk and quirky little features. This room tidily houses a range of books, toys and art materials but is also suitable for adults.

The main bathroom has double sinks and a fabulous walk in shower and is simple and pared back, decorated in clean white with matt white tiles and hotel standard fittings.


Relax in the secluded and enclosed garden by the large, private pool with stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Set within two acres of organic olive groves, the grounds of El Olivar have been designed for outdoor living and making the very most of time spent with family and friends. The large, enclosed, totally private and well equipped garden has ample furniture and an expansive lawn surrounding the 10m x 5m private pool.

With views in every direction, there are terraces on each side of the house offering plenty of choice for both sun and shade and seamlessly connecting the inside and outside spaces. Facing south, the largest, vine covered terrace, has two sofas looking towards the pool, over olive groves and farmland to the city of Ronda. This is the perfect place to sit and read or enjoy a well-earned snooze in the shade. Or, if you are feeling a bit more energetic, you can enjoy a game of ping pong on the fabulous outdoor table tennis table.

To the east is the main dining terrace with a handcrafted oak table that comfortably seats ten and invites long, relaxing mealtimes at the edge of the olive grove. With a barbeque, outdoor paella burner and herbs within picking distance, this is the ideal setting for family and friends to gather.

On the north side are lovely views to the hills behind the house, this uncovered, but often shady, terrace has a large flat area perfect for a spot of petanque.

The west terrace has double doors that lead directly into the kitchen with an oak dining table, cork stools and Fermob sofa and armchairs from which to watch the sunsets and soak up the glorious views of the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda.

The large, bamboo covered pergola at the pool’s shallow end has a new double daybed with soft mattress and superb views towards the mountains in the west. Parasols and six comfortable wooden loungers surround the pool and encourage lazy afternoons. The pool itself is 5m x 10m with steps into the shallow end and is perfect for a cooling dip and large enough for more serious exercise.

Approached via a single track road, the finca sits in an unspoilt area of outstanding beauty.

Throughout the day there is ample shade to keep cool and perhaps have a siesta and of course, there is plenty of sun. Balmy evenings encourage candlelit gatherings on one of the terraces or a romantic walk under the stars

We live in a beautiful, rural location and were looking for a house that offered total peace, tranquility and relaxation close to the city of Ronda. We have three children of various ages and wanted a house that was suitable for children of all ages and appealing to adults who are looking for something a bit special.

Why Lucy Crane chose Ronda

Location! The house is in a gorgeous rural location absolutely thronging with birdlife, with fantastic views and total peace and quiet yet is only ten minutes' drive or a short bike ride from the beautiful city of Ronda.

The house is close to two hotels (one within walking distance), near a great local bar and within walking distance of two beautiful vineyards.

Space and light - its lovely, open plan layout, generously sized rooms, many french doors (with views!) large garden and olive grove make the house feel bright, light and spacious enough to cope with a big group or family (there is always somewhere quiet to sit).

Perfect for families and large groups - the house is great for entertaining, the terraces all offer something different - the south terrace overlooks the garden and pool, the north has table tennis and boules, the east looks onto the olive grove with a bespoke oak table and benches seating ten and the west is perfect to savour a glass of wine at the end of the day and watch the sun set over the mountains of the Serrania de Ronda. As many guests have said, at El Olivar you can live with the rhythm of the sun.

What makes this villa unique

Finca El Olivar has a large, private garden and pool leading onto an acre of olives and is surrounded by old olive groves in an area of outstanding beauty. The views are incredible and the house has terraces on every side offering plenty of shade. It is fantastic for families or large groups but also suitable for a romantic break (we have had several honeymoon couples and couples celebrating their anniversaries).

Total privacy, peace and tranquility with walks right from the door but only ten minutes from some of the best food in the area and surrounded by vineyards - what could be better?

Safe, quiet and very well equipped. Had two great meals at Hotel La Fuente .....nice to be able to walk, and at El Muelle de Arriate. Our favourite meals were at De Locos Tapas. Chris' trip in his 4x4 was a highlight and well worth it to see the surrounding area. We hope to return.

Lucy is an amazing, thoughtful, detail oriented owner. The guidebook she has created includes hidden treasures, locations , recimmendations for fine food, experiences, activities. We hit every one of her Highly recommended restaurants in Ronda and Arriate. Truly spect liar culinary experiences. We found the house and the pool soo delightful we barely left the property. There is a huge porch which is covered from the sun which my husband and I read books, napped etc. our 3 kids (age14,12,8) loved the pool, ping pong table, sleeping in super late every day in the individually air conditioned rooms w top quality beds and linens. Hilde was available and engaged and help us w all sorts of needs and arrangements.

Location is perfect as you are remote enough that you can't see a soul from the house so gave complete getaway and retreat. Hop in the car and you are in the heart of Ronda in15 minutes.

We hope to be back next year for 2 weeks!

Hooked on Ronda!

We spent the most amazing few days at El Olivar - the house was so beautiful and in the most wonderful setting. The decor was done to perfection and there was absolutely everything you needed and more. The Hi-spec furniture and decor was simple yet beautiful with a Spanish twist. Everything was in very good taste and of high quality; the bed linen crisp and white, the bathroom shampoo and shower gel provided were lovely too, everything was very carefully thought out to perfection to the last detail. I would highly recommend this as a holiday destination. Ronda and it's surroundings were stunning, the jeep tour, wine tasting, olive oil tasting and ice cold swimming in the local rivers, were all refreshing, relaxing and enjoyable. El Olivar was the perfect get away, After a day wondering around Ronda there was nothing more inviting than returning to El Olivar for some cool drinks, tapas and a refreshing and rewarding swim in the turquoise pool. Thank you Team El Olivar!

A very stylish and luxurious villa

El Olivar is even more beautiful than the photographs suggest and we had a wonderful, relaxing holiday surrounded by stunning countryside. Every luxury has been considered in the villa and the welcome we received was excellent. The villa was spotlessly clean, beds super comfy and kitchen very well stocked - everything we could possibly need. Will definitely be returning!

Blissful spot!

This was the perfect place for the whole family to relax. Between the pool and the table tennis our two young men (16 and 20) had plenty to do while we lounged. The south terrace looking across the pool to Ronda provided a cool and restful spot for endless reading and we had many banquets on the east terrace after a glass or two watching the sun go down behind the foothills. We loved the rooms - so lovingly thought through - a great space for slowing down. Favourite thing? Probably wild swimming and the jeep tour or was it exploring Ronda or Seville or maybe eating at De Locos Tapas or...that early morning swim on the last day when no one else was in the pool!

Beautiful Villa in Stunning Location

We have just spent ten days at El Olivar.

The villa was even more beautiful than in the photos, the attention to detail was excellent and the gardens and location were perfect.

The house was spotless, with the comfiest bed ever!

Chris and Hilde, the property managers were so helpful, even accompanying us to hospital when our son was ill.

The guide provided was extremely comprehensive and we loved the recommendations for places to eat, enjoying great meals at El Muelle at Arriate, De Locos Tapas and also Santo Molino. The jeep safari with Chris was worth every penny - we'd love to do it again at a different time of year.

I can not recommend El Olivar highly enough. The attention to detail and the thoughtful touches and love put into the 'home' were really appreciated.

Beautiful, stylish and thoughtful

Stunning property - stylish but relaxed - with lots of shade and places to hang out with family and friends. The house is surrounded by olive groves and rolling hills and the gardens were also much more mature than in the photos which was a real plus. The owners had been so thoughtful with lots of special touches throughout the house (beautifully crafted toys, interesting books etc). The villa and the location exceeded our expectations and made for a wonderful holiday.

In an elevated position, amongst open olive groves and set in its own 2 acres, against a backdrop of rolling hills, el Olivar faces south with uninterrupted views towards the beautiful hilltop city of Ronda. To the east lies the verdant valley of Llano de la Cruz and to the west stands the mountainous majesty of the Serranía de Ronda and Grazalema National Park.

Private and tranquil without being remote, with easy access to Ronda and the pueblos blancos

Rural enough to offer complete tranquility but less than ten minutes from the enchanting hilltop city of Ronda, the most spectacular of the pueblos blancos, this is an area of outstanding beauty and stunning geographic diversity. Dotted with whitewashed villages clinging perilously to rocky outcrops, the pace of life is infectiously slow and the locals are extremely welcoming. The lively village of Arriate is two miles away and offers a surprising wealth of amenities; fish and seafood, fresh from the coast, a bounty of Mediterranean vegetables, local specialities and a flavour of undiscovered Andalucía. Los Frontones is an extremely favoured area with two exceptional hotels less than a mile away (one within easy walking distance) creating exciting dishes from the very best local produce. Down to earth fare at a local bar or exceptionally creative tapas in Ronda’s barrio, there is something here for everyone.

The area has an enormous amount to offer whether your preference is for history and architecture, gastronomy, hiking, walking or cycling, horseriding, birdwatching, golf, tennis, quad biking, ballooning, or more extreme sports like mountain climbing, hang gliding, parachuting and potholing. Lazy days by the pool and short excursions exploring the pueblos blancos or the many local vineyards can be combined with trips further afield to the beautiful Andalucian capital of Seville, the Moorish cities of Granada and lesser known Cordóba, the sherry capital Jerez, the coastal resorts of glamorous Marbella and eclectic Malaga or even the north coast of Morocco.

El Olivar is just over an hour from Malaga airport, 1½ hours from Seville or Jerez and two hours from Granada. The Mediterranean coast is under an hour away and the Atlantic an hour and a half.


Steeped in history and romance and immortalised in literature, the medieval city of Ronda sits strategically positioned atop a limestone plateau, split in two by a spectacular gorge, with breathtaking views of the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda. Despite its popularity, it is the third most visited city in Andalucia and the most impressive of all the hilltop towns, Ronda retains much of its historic charm. It is a beautiful Arabic city, the last stronghold of the Nasrid kingdom of Granada and even today the Arabic influence can be seen throughout the city.


Ernest Hemmingway, Orson Wells, Laurie Lee and James Joyce all found inspiration in Ronda. Prague born poet, Rainer Maria Rilke named Ronda Ciudad Soñada – the ‘city of dreams’ - and its romance remains, from the cobbled labyrinthine old town with its flower filled courtyards and plazas lined with orange trees to the spectacular and dizzying 120 meter deep Tajo splitting the old town from the new and spanned by the impressive Puente Neuvo. Ronda boasts Roman, Arabic, and neoclassical architecture from the fantastically preserved Baños Arabes and city walls to the Plaza de Toros. Traditional Spanish guitar can be heard in leafy plazas where lovers gaze at the view and dream and fabulous sunsets can be enjoyed from restaurant terraces overlooking the magnificent Tajo across the Serranía de Ronda. Flamenco and Flamenco fusion can be heard in numerous bars, and August sees Ronda host the flamenco Festival de Cante Grande, one of the oldest flamenco festivals in Andalucia.

The Real Feria de Mayo or Ronda Romantica is the second oldest fair in Andalucia, dating from 1509, this festival recreates the atmosphere of a bygone romantic era when locals dress in traditional costume, food is cooked on stoves and open flames and the only light is from candles and oil lamps.

The more gruesome Feria de Pedro Romero is in the first week of September and Semana Santa - Holy Week - is a spectacle to behold; passion reigns, for this is Spain.

750 metres above sea level, Ronda is the coolest of Andalucian cities even in the unforgiving heat of summer, spring comes early and brings carpets of wild flowers, autumn is the ideal season for walking and cycling holidays before the brief, cold snap of winter reaches this far south.
