Avelin cottage is a one bedroomed cottage, new for Autumn 2020 an extension which consists of a dressing room with an Infrared Sauna, wardrobe, dressing table, 2 small chests, and a comfortable easy chair, Set in open countryside in wonderful teesdale about 1.5miles from centre of the small market town of Barnard Castle, the cottage has a bathroom with X large shower, large heated towel rail, fully equipped kitchen, dining Area with an oak dresser table and chairs, a lounge, 2 leather easy chairs, with TV and DVD player, nest of tables, there are books and magazines, also board games and jigsaws, outside guests have use of large lawn with patio area , and there are 2 Summer Houses to sit in on long Summer evenings plenty of parking, a drive around the property for easy driving in and out of the property, adjacent to the cottage is a utility room with washing machine, also an iron and ironing board the Cottage has electric heating which is thermostatically controlled, through the day the heaters are all set at 18c, in the evening they are all set at 22c and will go off and on to suit.

Luxurious stay

Comfortable high quality accommodation,very friendly and helpful hosts. Lovely to see woodpeckers on the feeders and to explore the area.

Ideal in Every Way

Avelin Cottage is located a couple of miles outside Barnard Castle. The cottage has been beautifully and thoughtfully furnished by Linda and Dave, who are the nicest hosts imaginable. Everything they do is focussed on ensuring the most comfortable and relaxing stay possible, including the provision of a luxurious infra red sauna and a hot tub. It is situated within easy range of many historical properties and beauty spots, including Barnard Castle itself. A delightful Georgian town with excellent central parking, interesting shops and a great street market, it is also the home to the unmissable Bowes Museum, originally a private collection of some 15,000 paintings, ceramics and furnishings, housed in a magnificent French-style château. Given that a car is essential for the area, we would unhesitatingly recommend Avelin Cottage as the perfect holiday cottage.

Great place

This property was absolutely brilliant, the hosts were friendly and gave us all the info we needed. The cottage itself was of a very high standard, the cleanliness and the fiano hung touches in the whole place was really really superb. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Wonderful Stay...!

The cottage was everything we expected and more. Cosy, comfortable, very well equipped, stunning landscape views and very, very relaxing. Perfect for a get-away-from-everything break. The highlight of our stay was definitely the hot tub, enjoying the views with a glass of bubbly - just perfect! Plenty of things to do nearby, we visited Raby Castle & High Force, Barnard Castle, and Rokeby Hall. Many thoughtful touches in the cottage such as homemade preserves for breakfast, along with bread, eggs, milk etc and a gorgeous bunch of sweet peas from the garden. We are already planning a return trip...!!
