Overview

About the property

Cottage in Bassenthwaite Village, Nr Keswick, Lake District, Cumbria, England

Bespoke, cosy and characterful cottage which sleeps 2 ideal for all ages with all modern facilities including modern shower room. This detached cottage is a converted cattle shed and is all on ground level near the farm yard. It has views to the mountain of Skiddaw from the bedroom window, and to the stream in Bassenthwaite Village from the lounge window.

The property is situated in the heart of the village with many walks possible from the cottage. Only a short stroll to the local Inn from here up the riverside. There is a seat outside the cottage, and also seating by the stream only a few yards away, where, weather permitting you can take your breakfast, and enjoy it whilst watching the ducks waddle too and fro. This is a reasonably quiet village just on the edge of the Lakes, but still handy for Keswick and Cockermouth - only 15 mins drive away, and the whole of the Lake District is within easy reach.

About Alison Trafford

I have lived here at picturesque Bassenthwaite for "many years"

and have enjoyed meeting guests from all over the world. I am a farmer's wife, so have had to learn to "juggle" many roles as well as looking after grand children and elderly parents over the years.

I still enjoy this way of life, and although I do not have many holidays, I feel the world comes to me, and as long as I am fit and well to do so, I will continue my very rewarding job.

I take great pride in having my cottages clean and comfortable with good facilities, and always put my guests first.

Look forward to meeting many more!!

Why Alison Trafford chose Bassenthwaite

These cottages are close to our farm and therefore I am on hand to give advice to our guests if required, and guide them on their chosen route for the day. They are in a most picturesque setting "By a stream with ducks" . The ducks are a great attraction as they waddle too and fro from farm to stream. We hatch new ducklings about twice a year, and have lambing time when the baby sheep arrive in February/March/April, which is very exciting (and hard work), but our guests just love watching it all happen.

What makes this cottage unique
