Overview

About the property

2 Double Beds, Wood Burner, Pet Friendly, Stunning Views. Recently upgraded.

7 Wye Rapids Cottage is in a beautiful location along a quiet lane overlooking the River Wye and enjoys spectacular views of the renowned wooded valley that is Symonds Yat.

This property is also our little home from home and we want you to feel as comfortable as we do. Aside from the stunning elevated position the property has a lovely wood burning stove with a generous stock of wood, lovely comfortable beds and a whole range of home comforts. We don't want it to feel like just another holiday let.

As it's on the end of the row the good sized rear courtyard can be accessed easily without going through the cottage - perfect if you have bikes, canoes or just a muddy dog!!

The property enjoys a truly stunning elevated position with fantastic views of the river, surrounded by beautiful tracks for walking (with or without dogs!) or cycling. It's a nature lovers / bird-watcher's paradise, not to mention those that enjoy river activities such as canoeing, kayaking etc.

In addition, there are some great local pubs in total 5 within a lovely 30 minute walk (the nearest just 10 minutes walk). They are all very friendly and welcoming with a great selection of food and drink...and they love dogs!

You can cross the river via a hand-operated ferry, run by the staff of the Saracen's Head pub opposite the property - located 5 minutes walk from the cottage.

Since acquiring the property in 2016 with have renewed / upgraded most of it including a new kitchen in 2017 and a new bathroom at the end of 2018. We will work hard to maintain and improve the standard throughout.

Why Kerry & Adrian Summerton chose Ross-on-Wye

We have been visitors to the Wye Valley for many years now, and when the opportunity arose in December 2015 to acquire 7 Wye Rapids in this premier location we just had to make it happen.

What makes this cottage unique

Wood burning stove and a free log store in the rear courtyard. As our cottage is on the end is has gated side access (great for bikes, canoes or muddy boots / dogs!). We've recently upgraded the broadband to high speed fibre optic and provide lots of home comforts for you and your dog!.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable and cosy property. The owners have thought of everything you may need - lovely soft throws, gorgeous fluffy duvets, very well equipped kitchen. It’s in a really peaceful location with stunning views and only couple of minutes from the river. There was a basket of blankets and bowls for our dog which was a nice touch, loads of wood for the fire and lovely candles everywhere. You can see the river rapids through the trees in the grounds at the front, we heard owls and pheasants each night and saw a group of wild deer on an evening walk, ate some fabulous food at the local pub and it was a totally relaxing break so we would definitely book again.

Lovely, cosy cottage with everything needed for a relaxing break.

  • 5 of 5

An extremely well equipped and comfortable cottage in a great location. The Christmas decorations and a card and gift on arrival were a lovely touch! There are so many things to see and do in the area but we were so warm and cosy we had to make an effort to leave 😀 We loved the comfortable beds and the log burner and the well equipped kitchen and bathroom - the owners really have thought of everything! We had a lovely Sunday lunch at Ye Old Ferrie Inn and the locals made us feel very welcome - even taking us back to their house to give us some kindling for the fire as we had run out. We would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone who wishes to visit the area and hope to return soon. Thank you Kerry & Adrian - Merry Christmas!

Perfect cottage with everything you could want

  • 5 of 5

Lovely clean cottage with every attention to detail. Great views which we would imagine would be spectacular if the weather had been better, but we were cosy and comfortable indoors. Well positioned for a variety of local attractions. Only here for 3 nights but hope to return as there is plenty more to see. Oh, and really comfy beds too.

The cottage is in the heart of the Wye Valley - stunning views of the river, woodlands and the gorge are literally on your doorstep. It is therefore perfect for walkers / hikers, cyclists, dog owners, canoeists / kayaakers / those who like to fish (barbel / salmon) or people who just want to escape to the country. We're also blessed with some really great pubs in short walking distance - friendly, welcoming (including to dogs!) and serving great food. We're just 10 to 15 minutes drive from the lovely towns of Ross and Monmouth if you want to shop.
