About Lesley and Andy

Andrew and Lesley McKay live in Warrington Cheshire. Andrew is an IT consultant and Lesley is a nurse working in the NHS. They have 2 teenage sons.

Lesley and Andy purchased this house in 2015

Why Lesley and Andy chose Penrith

We fell in love with the Olde Barn the minute we walked through the door and plan to retire here. We love the upside down approach to living and enjoy cosy nights in front of the log burning stove. We have spent a lot of time in the Lake District walking, climbing and mountain biking and the barn provides a useful base away from the sometimes overcrowded tourist areas.

What makes this house unique

The Olde Barn is a great property suitable for a wide range of getaways. Whether you want a romantic honeymoon hideaway, family activity base with ample storage or a relaxing retreat the Barn caters for all.

The view of Cross Fell from the feature window is spectacular.

The old barn is a well equipped, well located, comfortable, spacious rental near Penrith

  • 4 of 5

We had no problems and enjoyed our stay. The place is perfect for a large or extended family. The kitchen was particularly well appointed.

We easily explored the Lakes district and Penrith from here.

Be aware that it is a working farm and although this does not intrude into the building, there are some barnyard aromas out there. The DVD player works on a game station which the older generation may find challenging. These were minor inconveniences only.

Comfy & spacious cottage

  • 5 of 5

Just come back from Olde Barn and loved the property. It's handily placed just off the A66 so access to Penrith, the Northern and Western Lakes is so easy. The cottage is well equipped in the kitchen and the bedrooms are a really good size. Will sleep a total of 6 people.

I contacted the owner for some details of the property and to ask a quick question. They responded very quickly and were a pleasure to deal with.

We would certainly return to Olde Barn. If was just 2 of us this time but we could easily bring friends or family.

The owners have put plenty of things to do in the cottage. There is a playstation 3 and loads of board games for those rainy days or in the evening.

Lovely Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Olde Barn immensely. It was a beautifully kept place, clean, tidy, and even with a welcoming bottle of wine!

It’s a great spot for visiting the Lake District and the Pennines!
