Lovely property but hygiene is questionable

  • 3 of 5

The bungalow is in a great location with stunning views and friendly and helpful neighbors however, a few home touches are needed. I was disappointed to arrive to find there was no towels, toilet roll, kitchen roll, working light bulbs etc with no prior warning. All dishes needed washing before we could use them, a dog biscuit was found in one of the beds and the running water was brown and undrinkable. The coat holder wasn’t attached to the wall and the overall cleanliness was poor. For £100 a night I would have excepted more. I wouldn’t recommend this property for families due to the dirty water and unsteady decking area.

Wooden clad building not a bungalow .owners not helpful in replying to complaint !

  • 1 of 5

Warning do not arrive at this site in the dark!

The very steep winding road is full of not potholes but craters!. This was NOT a cottage and a wooden clad building . The roads up have to be the most horrific I’ve ever encountered so dangerous and nearly burnt out clutch out on the car . We took an hour to find the property (many others searching also a map of the layout may be and idea) we couldn’t park by the property !! the decking is falling apart I fell over twice it’s literally rotting . The place was filthy the coat rack fell off the wall by us putting a hat on it ! The fronts fell of draws the oven is dangerous and filthy the whole place needs a deep clean .the red cushions so filthy made me sick .

Heating broken but me on site fixed it by 10pm . Apparently no gas !!!!!!they left muddy footprints all over the carpets to add to the filth already in there . My question how can this be 4 Star accommodation and how can you charge for it ! Needs a lot of repair before a serious accident happens especially doors not closing .i left it cleaner than I arrived but was not willing to spend my holiday giving it the cleaning it needed .clearly this property has had its day !

I have e mailed the owners twice to give them a chance to reply but no answer !

Bungalow good views super roads terrible

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely relaxed holiday, the bungalow was very comfortable and clean the beds were very good it was well equipped. The views were superb so lovely to sit on the deck and watch the sun go down. Also to allow the dog freedom of the deck. Here comes the but the road up was dreadful the parking by the bungalow was not very good. The decking in front of the kitchen doors was very dangerous we felt it could break anytime as one of the main supports had obviously broken. But over all that we had what we hoped a lovely relaxed time.

Very easy to locate and access the property. The power and general facilities were acceptable.

  • 4 of 5

Water was brown initially but was clear after 4 days. The cottage is within easy reach to the beach, shops and a number of places of interest.

Excellent facilities, beautiful views.

  • 5 of 5

Great property with execellent views and facilities. Aberdyfi is a great nearby stop with excellent local businesses. Before the trip we noted the previous reviews mentioning the pot holes in the road up to the property and advising the use of bottled water, so we were prepared.

Great location, mixed feelings re facilities

  • 3 of 5

The location of the bungalow is great. Yes, the road is a little rough, but, not unmanageable unless you drive a very low based car. Yes, the water is yellowish which was off putting so we just purchased bottled water. On the surface the place is clean, but, housekeeper needs to pay more attention between stays as we found behind furniture quite grubby and items such as tablets (which could prove dangerous to children and pets) under bedside tables. The base on the double bed was broken when we arrived, but, the onsite maintainance man, Gordon, sorted this very quickly on day 2 along with fixing a radiator, replacing missing lights and light bulbs.

The bungalow is comfortable and warm with good facilities. The site is advertised as an 'eco site' which explains the water, but, had no recycling facilities - nearest is in Aberdovey in the main beach front car park.

Did we enjoy our stay? Yes, as the surrounding area is fabulous and the weather was very kind! Would we stay here again - most likely not, however, as a budget option would recommend. We camp regularly so can cope with probably more than most - however finding slugs in the kitchen most evenings was not our favourite part of the day!
