About The Owner/Property Manager

I am a teacher born in Siena in 1961. I love nature and I needed a place where to be detached from real life. A place to have a rest out of the chaotic world. I have always worked as a teacher and love developing people skills. I love spending time with friends and am really interest to share some of the Italian "dolce far niente" with foreign people.

The Owner/Property Manager purchased this villa in 2004

Why The Owner/Property Manager chose Civitella Paganico

This property is an antique villa, perfectly restored to the highest standards. The environment is pristine and reserved. Perfect for those who need a rest. It is south-east oriented and its position, at the top of a Tuscan hill, Dominating the whole valley. It is possible to observe the surrounding fields, including Brunello's vineyards. It is close to Siena, one of the most ancient and historically interesting Italian city. It is famous the horserace run in August, called Palio di Siena. It is also near to the wonderful beaches of Castiglion della Pescaia and a little bit further, the amazin beaches of Monte Argentario.

What makes this villa unique

It is perfect for those who like to relax and enjoy a naturalistic environment. Wellness and Culture, since it is near to the famous abbey of San Galgano, museums in Siena and just 80kms from Florence. The advantage of this kind of holiday is the possibility to access culture, beaches, luxurious services and ancient cities.

Guests do not have to face the chaotic environment of a city, but can visit two of the best Italian cities within 30 minutes driving.

Lovely property in a peaceful, secluded setting.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this lovely house for two weeks in August 2017. It is a delightful property within a 5 minute drive of the little village of Pari. Siena is about a 20/25 minute drive away and it is a similar distance to Grosseto.

The house is about 800m up a small road (which is, for the mostpart, properly surfaced and fine for a normal car). The house itself is entirely secluded and not overlooked in any way. As currently furnished the house is ideal for a couple. Upstairs is a bathroom with shower and three bedrooms one of which is furnished with a double bed, one with a (comfortable) double sofa bed and the other as a dressing room. Downstairs there is a further shower room , a sitting room with a two seater sofa and a couple of chairs and an eat in kitchen. Externally there is quite an extensive garden with a spa pool, shaded terraces and a pizza oven.

We were met just outside of Pari by Tracy, an English friend of the owner, Marco, who contacted us several days before arrival and she took us to the property and gave us a few recommendations of things to do. Other than that we were undisturbed throughout the holiday but could contact Marco and Tracy if the need arose.

There is limited information at the property on local restaurants, etc so you will need to use your own resources and investigations. The house does have mobile internet but do watch the data usage - we managed to blow it with a (long) business Skype call early on and it took a couple of days for Marco to be able to top it up. Pari has one restaurant - fortunately it is a delight and amazingly reasonably priced (It is called Le Due Cecche or Sandra and Barbara). It is the bar in the tiny square of Pari - don't be put off by the plastic chairs and ice cream signs - it is great (Closed Weds) . There is also a quirky little trattoria in Casale di Pari (about a 10 minute drive from the house) - again, simple local food at a great price (Closed Monday). There are also a couple of other pizzerias/restaurants within relatively easy striking distance but you will need to drive to all the local places particularly at night. Pari has a tiny local shop and there is a supermarket at Paganico (c. 15min drive). There are a number of wineries within a relatively short drive of the property. Many of these are tiny so it may be worth calling ahead. The coast is less than an hour away and we had a very nice trip for lunch to Castiglione della Pescaia .

A great property - highly recommended.

There are a lot of naturalistic activities like birdwatching, fishing, and natural free spa. It is possible to go for a walk in the forest under a warm sun.
