About the property

A wealth of period features and charm in a modern spacious cottage

The cottage is generous in it's proportions with three spacious reception rooms, the dining room with seating for up to six around the dining table, a homely sitting room with gas stove fire and large 42 inch surround sound T V, lovely for cosying up in the evening, and a bright, sunny conservatory, with sofas, a great place to switch off and read a good book or the Sunday news papers.

There is a large farmhouse kitchen with lovely gas range stove and all modern conveniences, with built in fridge and dish washer, fully quipped with utensils any cook would be proud of! The utility room, has a washer dryer, large freezer and lots of coat hanging and boot drying room if needed. There are two bedrooms, one twin bedded with T.V. and one double bedroom with lavatory and hand basin en suite.

The is a large family bathroom with separate shower and luxuriously deep bath, there is also a third lavatory next to the utility room.

The outside is liad to lawn, with gravel path ways, and a swing and slide for the younger members of the family.

The hot tub is next to the cottage in a secluded part of the garden.

About Jane Russell

Our family purchased this fabulous old racing stables in 2002, and embarked on a renovation project lasting 2 years. The cottage is in our grounds. I look after the two holiday cottages, and we also run a livery stables from Plymouth Copse. We have s small flock of sheep, lovely if you come during lambing, you can help feed the lambs. We also have 12 acre wood here which we are in the process of turning into a nature reserve.

We are so ideally situated for exploring the region, in a rural location but only 5 minuets fron the A55 expressway. There is so much to do on the door step, but if you want to go a little further, for example to Anglesea or Liverpool is so easy to do.

Our cottage has so much traditional charm, but also all the modern conveniences to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is situated in the grounds of our house, a 16 century racing stables once owned by the Earl of Plymouth. We are situated in a rural position, surrounded by mature gardens, our own wood and pond, all for you to explore.

Beautiful cottage and lovely surroundings.

Set in a lovely location but also within easy reach of main roads making it a great base to explore from. The cottage was lovely and well equipped with plenty of space. The additional touches for children such as toys and the swings and slide was really appreciated by our 4 year old! We were made to feel very welcome (even by the peacock!) We couldn't fault our stay at all.

Absolutely Beautiful

We had the most wonderful stay at this cottage. The cottage is just stunning, loads of character with its fully equipped cottage style kitchen and low beamed rooms, every need is catered for. Our son and daughter in law visited us with our 5 year old grandson and there were even toys for him to play with. There is no shortage of cupboard space and the two bedrooms are massive with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub situated in the garden of the property, it was so relaxing, just what was needed and were provided with robes and towels specifically for this purpose. A welcome tray with cake, teabags, coffee, sugar and milk was provided on our arrival by Jane who was the most accommodating owner you could ever wish to meet. We were also treated to a lovely feather display every night by the resident peacock who just loved to show off his beautiful plumage. I would certainly recommend this cottage and will definitely be returning. Thankyou

Beautiful house in a perfect location.

The house is beautiful and in a great location, although you'd definitely need a car.

The kitchen is well equipped and the living rooms are lovely and cosy.

The bathroom is beautiful with an amazing bath.

The bedrooms are really nice however a tiny bit cold, I'm not sure if the radiators work in them.

Overall, fantastic!

A very comfortable home from home

It was a delightful property. Beautifully furnished . All wants and needs were catered for from toddlers upwards and the kitchen very well equipped.

It is situated in a perfect location rural yet close to major roads. It makes a wonderful holiday home and would heartily recommend it.

Lovely cottage, quiet location, great for exploring North Wales & Cheshire

We had a lovely week here, starting with a warm welcome from Jane, including cake!

The house was just right for our break exploring North Wales and Cheshire, with space for the kids outside as well as inside.

Generous downstairs space is balanced by two decent-sized bedrooms and a small toilet & sink upstairs. We enjoyed having a late afternoon/early evening drink on the deck as the sun went down.

A few tips - do not ignore the information the owners send with directions. It really is very easy to find when you follow their instructions. The one time we used our sat nav (on the last day) we ended up lost at the other end of the village!

The property is next door to the owners' house up a very well surfaced farm road (no potholes or other obstacles) but it is single-track so you have to be sensible.

Although they have two dogs we only saw their small old one, Dotty, who came to say hi whenever we were around. The other dog is a working sheep dog and therefore not a pet. The peacock is also a quirky addition to the sheep and horses which are also around.

The house has everything you need, including some toys, books and a well-equipped kitchen. There is no wifi but we found 4G signal very reliable on Vodafone and a McDonalds or Starbucks within 10 minutes will get you wifi.

We will definitely use this property again if we return to explore more of North Wales and Cheshire.

The Directions are from Chester

Take the A55 North Wales Coastal road from Chester, heading for Conway.

At Ewloe roundabout ake the A55 Conway/North Wales Road.

Trave along that road for approx 30 mins to Junction 31. (Prestatyn/Caerwys Junction)

Come off the A55 at Junction 31 and at the first roundabout turn left for Caerwys - B5122

Go down that road for approx half a mile to the first cross roads then take a Left turn for Babell.

Travel along this raod for appox 1 mile where you will come to a staggered crossroads.

There is a private road to the left, it is a large entrance to the road and starts climbing up a hill.

Take that road and we are at the end

The main house is called Plymouth Copse, and post code is CH8 8PZ

Your cottage is located within our grounds.

Fees No additional mandatory fees

Payment can be made through Owners Direct on their secure booking portal or you can pay direct to myself through a bank transfer.
If paying direct to me I require as deposit of 50% of the booking to secure the dates and you holiday. This payment is non refundable once received. If you need to cancel the reservation, if the dates booked are resold then a refund will be due, if the dates are not resold then the revenue is not refunded.
The booking is strictly Non Transferable.
The balance of the holiday (50%) becomes due 60 days prior to your arrival.

In the off peak season we are more flexible and if there are specific days you wish to request please drop us an e mail.
Please note during holiday seasons, Easter, summer holidays and Christmas we only accept 7 night bookings.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
