About The Owner

Having lived in Ilmington for the last 15 years, I can thoroughly recommend the village as a wonderful place to spend time in. I know the area extremely well, love walking my dog in the hills, play golf and tennis and have a clothes boutique in Stow on the Wold.

The Owner purchased this house in 2004

Why The Owner chose Ilmington

Manor Barns is in a unique location within Ilmington. It is completely in the centre of the village, yet only a short walk from the Howard Arms and village shop, and in a quiet circle of houses in what would originally have been farm buildings. It has been completely refurbished this year with a brand new kitchen, bathrooms, carpets and decor to give our guests a relaxed and extremely comfortable stay.

What makes this house unique

A wonderful location for a walking holiday with a myriad of footpaths to follow and close to the Cotswold Way. It would be very easy to go carless for several days with all that the village has to offer.

Country life convenient to Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Sally, we had a lovely stay. So nice to be in the countryside and so convenient to everything. We wish we could stay longer and would definitely stay again but for a week. Wonderfully equipped kitchen and a great home away from home.

Owner's Response: A lovely review Lesley, thank you. So glad that you appreciated the thought and care that has gone in to Manor Barns to make it such a comfortable place to stay and so convenient for accessing our beautiful countryside and Cotswold villages. With our lovely village shop, café, and great pub nearby it all adds up to a great place to spend a few days or weeks!

Wonderful weekend in the Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic weekend away in the Cotswolds over the Easter weekend with the family. The house was so cosy and homely and had everything we wanted and more. Ilmington was lovely little place and I highly recommend The Howard Arms which is a 5min walk away from the house, food delicious and staff were very friendly. The shop has a great selection for those last minute things you may need. There is so much to see, we went to Chipping Campden, Stow on The Wold, Bourton on The Water, Stratford upon Avon and Moreton in the Marsh. Shipston on Stour has a great gastropub called The George where we had a wonderful sunday lunch. It was good to get out of London for the weekend and into the countryside. I look forward to our next visit to the Cotswolds in the near future.

Cosy comfortable base

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas in 4 manor barns. Although smaller than anticipated for 4 adults it was a good base and bolt hole for Christmas. Loved the village and Howard Arms who made us welcome.

A feeling of comfortable home-from-home. Thoughtfully furnished and equipped by owners that cared.

  • 5 of 5

We were met with a smile and personal touch. The cottage was homely, spacious and welcoming. Every room was bright, clean and well presented. The little touches made a difference; a variety of books, maps and walks, a torch to guide you along unlit lanes, an umbrella, a little welcome pack of milk etc. The local shop was a pretty 10 minute walk selling quality goods and fresh produce. The locals of Ilmington were relaxed and friendly. The location and property was ideal for 3 of us, including my 83 year old Mother. There were such a range of places to visit we were spoilt for choice but at the end of the day, it was lovely to return "home". Our stay was perfect in every way and we could wish for nothing more. We would love to return again one day. Thank you to the owners.

Lovely relaxing stay in the heart of the Cotswolds

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovey break at Sally's gorgeous cottage in a tranquil village setting. The cottage itself is extremely well equipped and has very comfortable beds- so a great sleep was enjoyed by all. It's in the perfect location to visit Morton-in-Marsh, Chipping Campden, Stow-on-the -Wold and also Stratford are all close by- so lots of places within an easy drive.

Lots of interesting books and some family games to enjoy, so would be helpful in the event of poor weather, ( we had good weather so did not stay indoors for long enough to make use of these facilities!)

Sally was extremely helpful and came out to meet us and direct to the cottage.

Would definitely stay again if we come back to the Cotswolds.

Many thanks

Sarah, Claire & Grainne
