Why Francesca Villa chose Trastevere

At walking distance from all the best sights in Rome, the Santonofrio apartments are in a quiet corner of the Trastevere area, only a few minutes walk from te Vatican and Piazza Navona and Campodefiori. From the Sant'Onofrio area you can walk to Saint Peter's square and admire the view as the sun sets behind the Cupola or walk along the banks of the Tiber and take in the spectacular views of historical Rome, or walk up to the Gianicolo Hill and take in a breathtaking view of the innumerable domes and bell towers that pierce the skyline of Rome and stop for a visit at the magnificent Fontana dell'Acqua Paola. At evening you can walk into Trastevere and dine in one of its many local restaurants.

A distinguishing feature of Santonofrio Apartments is the lovely shared outside patio in the building courtyard for exclusive use of the guests. The perfect place to have dinner or just relax with a glass of wine after a day of sightseeing. From the Santonofrio Apartments everything is close at hand, monuments, sights , shops and restaurants. You can reach everything on foor foot or by bus.

The apartment is in a quiet street even though being in the middle of old Rome.

Restaurants and supermarkets are all close. Order pizza and beer from the local pizzeria on the corner and just relax in the patio!

Convenient to most attractions

Need more bath towels. Washer and dryer not working properly. Had to pay additional euros that we were not quoted at time of booking reservation

Nice apartment close to all of the major sites.

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was very nice and well within walking distance of all sites. The apartment was as described and had everything needed for 5 or more people. Beds were comfortable, A/C, which you needed in July in Rome, worked fabulously. Had a nice courtyard to hang out in, small store down the street, coffee house around the corner.

Francesca communicated well and arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport and drop us at the apartment. I would stay in this apartment again if we were in Rome.

There are a couple of drawbacks that could be more clearly communicated when renting this apartment.

1. The stairs - The stairs were narrow and spiraled. If you have trouble with stairs, including carrying luggage up stairs, this may not be the place for you.

2. The Sunday arrival charge - Was never listed or communicated to me when I reserved the apartment. Please keep this in mind.

3. The charge for towels.

4. The additional cleaning fee if the kitchen is not left spotless

Other than the above, the apartment was great.

Clean, comfortable, great location, attentive property management,...would stay here again!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay!! We rented the Colors apartment, 2 adults & 3 teens (13, 15, 17). The property manager (Elisabetta) arranged our airport transfers and met us to check-in at the apt. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, and answered questions during our stay. The apt. was perfect, exactly as pictured, with plenty of room to spread out comfortably. The showers were great, beds comfortable and towels/pillows/blankets nice. We really enjoyed the coffee machine and other kitchen amenities. One of our favorite things was the patio--we started and ended each day there relaxing and visiting. Two of our most important criteria were AC (July in Rome!) and wifi (traveling with teens)--and we were pleased with both!

The apartment location was perfect- one block off a main road so was quiet and felt safe but still was close enough to everything. We easily walked everywhere (only took a cab to the Coliseum), each day enjoying the many beautiful fountains, sidewalk cafes and unique shops which were only a few blocks away (across the river or closer to Vatican). The mini-markets right by the apt had everything we needed and were very convenient. We would definitely stay here again!

Calm quiet professionally managed spot

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is attractive, perfectly maintained and comfortable. The location is quiet and, while not in the middle of things, convenient enough for most. The management friendly and accommodating. (And the showers are glorious.)

Smaller than shown

  • 3 of 5

This apartment was much smaller than we anticipated. The bedrooms were fine, but there is no common space. The living room in the picture does not exist. I think they may have given us a different apartment than the one we booked. Also, the floors were dirty and the dryer didn't work at all. Other than that, it was good. We liked the location and the outdoor space very much!

Just right for us

  • 5 of 5

This was our family's first trip to Rome. We found this apartment perfect for our needs. Elisabetta met us there upon check in and went over everything with us, showed us some good restaurants on the map, etc. She was very nice and spoke excellent English! For Rome it is a large apartment; the four of us never felt cramped. It is on a quiet, narrow street with little traffic very close to St. Peter's Square and the Vatican. It was great to have a kitchen to at least make breakfast each morning and have an espresso. The water in the showers was hot and we did not run out of hot water. The heat kept the apartment warm and comfortable. There is a mini-mart a 2 minute walk from the residence that we used to buy groceries and the like. There is a restaurant a few steps away called Sor'eva that was good for lunch or dinner. We walked everywhere we wanted to go in Rome from the apartment, including to Trastevere, Piazza de Popolo, the Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Pantheon, Campo de Fiori, etc. The only time we took a taxi was one night late after dinner when it was raining. All in all we were very happy with the accommodations and would gladly stay there again. Thank you!
