Really nice stay

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely few nights - perfect little hide away for a couple. Shame the pub across the road wasn't open, but we hear it is re-opening soon after refurbishment.

Spent a day walking in the Beacons which was nice, but then we stayed closer to the property on our second day in the Claerwen valley which was even nicer. Recommended!

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully restored and appointed former stable very cleverly designed to maximise the space available. It is actually a rebuild using original timbers and stone. The decor is very pleasing. Downstairs is a kitchen and dining area with a modern glass hob and complex microwave, and a table for two. The shower room is off the kitchen, with a good shower. Upstairs via an open wooden staircase is the double bedroom cum sitting area which might once have been a hayloft, with a modern tv and comfortable bed and sofa. Light is provided by a glass door to an outdoor stone staircase, as well as two rooflights. You need to remember to close the blinds on these at night or the dawn light will flood in.

The cottage is superbly well equipped, and in addition to the welcome pack of bacon, eggs, sausages, beans and bread that you can buy in advance, additional things are provided like a bottle of wine and snacks. The owners live in the main house close by but the front garden is dedicated to the cottage and is dog proof. Dogs are welcome and it is ideal for them.

Sadly when we were there the pub opposite was closed, but hopefully it will open again and is will be a handy place to eat and drink if you want to go out. Otherwise there are plenty of places in and near Builth Wells close by.

Cozy, quiet and out of the way

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for a week while we went hiking in brecon beacons national park. The cottage was beautiful and cozy. Perfect to come back to after a long day of hiking. The owners couldn't have been nicer and all the basics were provided in the cottage so all we had to do was buy food. The breakfast pack is also absolutely worth it. Sausages and bacon were fresh and delicious.

Charming, Quiet and Ideal

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have been happier with our choice of accommodations whilst attending the nearby Port Eliot Festival. The Old Stable boasts a quiet, idyllic setting, huge kitchen, ample bedrooms with comfy beds, excellent shower and a sense of seclusion that we greatly appreciated before and after the festivities. After we checked in, we saw only cows and sheep the whole four days!

Many thanks to our hosts for a wonderful experience we won't soon forget.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Stable, Aberedw. Beautiful little cottage, very clean with everything you need and lovely owners. The only thing I could say is it was fairly expensive but was lovely x
