Wharf Stables sits in the grounds of the private residence known as 'The Wharf' alongside Stratford on Avon Navigation Canal in the village of Wilmcote. Mary Arden's House, where Shakespeare's mother lived, is one of the major attractions in the area and is situated some 400 metres from the holiday let.

The village is also conveniently situated for those wishing to explore the Cotswolds, Warwick, Kenilworth and surrounding areas, in addition to enjoying the Shakespearian experience in Stratford upon Avon. Warwick Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in Britain..

The holiday let is a conversion of an old stone stable block. It was originally used in early 19th century for keeping the ponies used for pulling the carts from the Wilmcote quarry to the quay.

The accommodation consists of 2 bedrooms, one kingsize bed, and a superking with an option to split to 2 singles. Both bedrooms have en-suites (one with a bath). The holiday let comes complete with necessary fixtures to make your stay enjoyable. Including wifi, dishwasher, 42 inch TV with freeview, radio with USB and bluetooth, freezer and washer/dryer. It is fully centrally heated with heated towel rails and gas effect stove.

Wilmcote has good access to Stratford and, if you wish, the train is 5 minutes walk away. Walk down the towpath or jump on the sightseeing bus that runs regularly between the Shakespearian tourist attractions.

There is a general store in the village, 2 public houses and St. Andrews Church.

We moved into this property due to its quiet location and its close proximity to Stratford upon Avon and easy access to good transport links. In addition, the property is located adjacent to the Stratford Canal and surrounded by fields on 3 sides making this a relaxing environment.

The property is situated in 4.8 acres. and is surrounded by many mature trees.

  • The en-suite in bedroom one has a 1200 x 800 shower, wash hand basin and a WC. There is also a light mirror and shelves. The en-suite has a multi-heated towel rail to keep towels dry. The second en-suite in bedroom two has a bath with shower, Wash hand basin and WC. There is a shelf and mirrors plus shaver point. Also multi-heated towel rail. See photos for finishes.

  • There are 2 bedrooms both with en-suites. Bedroom 1 has a super king (sprung) bed that can be altered to 2 singles on request. Bedroom 2 has a king size (sprung with memory foam topper) bed. Both bedrooms have wardrobes and 4/5 drawer chests. In addition there are side tables with drawers and a store in bedroom 1 that houses cleaning equipment, plus an ironing board and iron. There is a a hair drier in bedroom one. The rooms are carpeted and the walls are painted or sealed.

Fantastic property, Fantastic owners. A real gem.

I spent days agonising over a holiday home for our first family holiday together with baby Oscar. I finally settled on Wharf Stables, and I am glad I did.

When we arrived we were taken aback about how much better the property looks in the flesh. The pictures do not do it justice.

Don't get me wrong I chose it based on the pictures, but it is rare the reality is better than the pictures.

Everything inside was spotlessly clean and extremely well appointed. All the appliances are of a high quality, and the place was cleaned to an extremely high standard.

We were greeted with Hotel quality fresh,crisp white linen and a bottle of Wine with fresh bread and Jams. The en-suite bathrooms are great in each room.

The owners Alan and Liz came to see if we were OK, and even brought us a baby bath for Oscar without us asking. Such lovely genuine people.

The property sits next to a canal and we awoke each morning to the pleasant view of Barges from our bedroom window.

The actual land is private though, and the public cannot access along the towpath. So the best of both worlds.You can however you can access the other side over the bridge and go for a nice quiet walk.

It is perfectly placed for a trip into Stratford Upon Avon or into the Cotswolds.

Summing up, if you are considering this property, don't think for another second... Book it, you won't be disappointed.

Peaceful & Convenient

We spent a delightful 2 weeks at Wharf Stables. The cottage is very comfortable and clean. The property is beautifully maintained providing a lovely peaceful setting yet so close to Stratford-on-Avon, Warwick & the Cotswolds. It is a short walk to the village shop or a short drive to a major supermarket. The park & ride was very convenient for travelling into Stratford. There are plenty of things to do in the area or it is a lovely place to relax. We enjoyed walks along the canal & watching the boats sail by. Liz & Alan were very friendly & helpful and made sure we had all we needed. We can highly recommend the cottage for a great holiday.

Perfect in every way

Having stayed in many cottages this is the very best, immaculate with all home comforts thought of. Beautiful surroundings in an excellent position for walking and easy reach into Stratford-Upon-Avon. A very memorable holiday and hope to return next year. Thank you Alan and Liz for all your help.

Wharf Stables is situated in Wilmcote, 3.5 miles from the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Here visitors can enjoy the attractions associated with William Shakespeare. i.e. Anne Hathaway's Cottage, Mary Arden's House, Shakespeare's Birthplace and Stratford Theatres.

Stratford sits on the river Avon where visitors can take sight-seeing tours or hire individual boats. If canal travel is of interest, boats can be hired locally, with reasonable notice, for parties up to 12. Wilmcote is also very well placed to explore the beautiful Cotswolds, recognised as one of the most picturesque areas in the U.K. In addition,there are many stunning National Trust properties in the Warwickshire/Gloucestershire area.

Warwick Castle, one of the best preserved Medieval castles in the U.K., is only 7 miles by car, as are the remains of Kenilworth Castle.

The Heritage Car Centre can be found just south of Warwick and the Coventry Car Museum is located in Coventry City Centre not far from Coventry Cathedral.

From Wilmcote, access can also be obtained to Birmingham City, where there are many museums and attractions. This would take approx. 40 minutes by train. The National Exhibition Centre is 24 miles to the North which hosts many shows and concerts throughout the year.

In the event of a cancellation , refunds of the rental will be made if the Owner is able to re-let the property, but any expenses or losses incurred in doing so will be deducted from the refundable amount.
The rental period will commence at 3.00pm on the first day and will finish at 11.00pm on the last day.
The number of people staying in the property must not be exceed, as confirmed on the booking confirmation invoice.
The owners will not be liable for a) any defect or stoppage in supply of public services, nor in respect of any equipment, plant or appliance in the property. b) any loss, damage or injury which is the result of adverse weather conditions beyond the control of the owners. c) any loss,damage or inconvenience caused to or suffered by the Guest if the Property shall be destroyed or damaged before the start of the rental period.
Under no circumstances shall the Owner's liability to the Guest exceed the amount paid to the Owner for the rental period.
