Notes:
Situated by a farm, when some of the time animals are in the farmyard, eg hens and ducks, collie dogs, lambs in Spring. Largest attraction is our Indian Runner Ducks which roam freely too and fro from farm to stream. Egg collecting in the mornings is great fun - certain months of the year, and we also hatch ducklings twice a year which is a wonderful experience for all.

Clean, cosy, and a lovely host.

  • 5 of 5

We were received with a warm welcome. It is an absolutely charming home. It would be great for a family in the cottage 1 we stayed in. I would highly reccommend Puddle Duck.

Brilliabt cottage & location

  • 5 of 5

Had an enjoyable break in Bassenthwaite - a really well equiped cottage in an excellent location in the village - close to the local Pub who served great local ale & food. Fascinated by the ducks on the stream. The cottage owner couldn't have been more friendly & helpful throughout. High recommended.

Friendly, welcoming and comfortable cottage

We had a lovely stay. The cottage was really cosy and the area was ideal for families. The children loved playing by the brook and exploring the surrounding area. Alison was really welcoming and helpful. We would visit again.

Alison the owner was very welcoming and friendly and let us help getting ducklings and ducks in at night and out in the mornings.

The cottage is situated opposite a Brook and is so peaceful and easy to relax.

Wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Very friendly and helpful owner. Perfect break away. We have stayed in many holiday homes as a family and this was the best house for cleanliness, comfort and equipment (kitchen appliances and utensils of high quality and bathrooms powerful and spacious). Our 3 kids (8,5,2) loved feeding the ducks and playing by the stream. Did some wonderful walks. All round lovely stay and would definitely visit again 😊😊

By a stream with ducks and village Life - Country Living! Idyllic place to switch off and unwind in this quiet hamlet with walks down country lanes, or hiking or just relaxing . Lovely riverside with seating where you can enjoy a glass of wine or read a book and watch our comical Indian Runner ducks antics as they waddle up the little paths in the opposite wood. Children can build dams, play pooh sticks, make dens,or play football on the village green ( PS.Cottages do not flood!)

Additional pricing information

Fees No additional mandatory fees

Regarding payments, we accept cheques, pay pal, or card. If it is booking of a large cottage for a high season price, we would prefer the payments to spread over two or three payments in different months with the final payment either on arrival or during the last month. If it is a late booking we can also accept cash on arrival. These are only approx prices. We charge generally according to length of stay and number of people. For weekend bookings we often can include a third night free of charge. In a large cottage sleeping over 6 we can reduce the rent for 2-4 people. Please enquire to the owner.
