Why Samuel Billiau chose Jalón

The villa is just as nice if not nicer than the photo's. Sometimes photo's can be misleading but not in this case! We found there was more available at the villa than was described in the listing, such as kitchen appliances including a separate laundry room beside the large pool complete with washer, dryer, ironing facilities, shower and toilet. The property is well maintained and has a warm homely feel about it, with good quality furniture, fittings and decoration. All the rooms are a good size and we were pleased that all A/C units worked well in the rooms. The villa is around a 15 minute stroll to the town of Jalon, where there are sufficient bars, cafes and good quality restaurants, including a lovely, gated municipal pool area if you fancy mixing with others. There is also a big supermarket and 2 Bodega's in the town. The Bodega's are well worth a visit to stock up on cheap and very tasty wine!! We would certainly recommend this luxury villa to others who are looking for a tranquil, rustic Spanish holiday.

Notes:
La Gaia is perched on the banks of the Rio Gorgos approached by a secluded lane; there is no passing traffic. It is a perfect place to unwind and refresh. Jalon is the nearest town and is easily reached within walking distance. The Jalon Valley is one of the treasures of the Costa Blanca, also known as The Vall de Pop. It is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery and is famous for it’s vineyards and almond trees, which have been growing here for 500 years. This small town has all the essential facilities without forgetting the charm of times gone by. Centered around the neo- classical church of Santa Maria, the town square still runs a farmers market. Every Saturday throughout the year the town hosts a Rastro Market, which stretches throughout the length of the town. People come to find treasures and to catch up with friends in the lively bars and cafes.

Could be fantastic

  • 3 of 5

Although the pictures make the property look amazing in reality is was rather a disappointment. We were not aware that the property is semi-detached and so can be overlooked, the owner also lives at the end of the garden. The furnishings were dated and quite tatty with the outdoor furniture really faded and worn. If the owners update the property furnishing it would be stunning.

The location was really good, with easy road access and with two villages within easy walking distance. There are a large number of interesting attractions within easy reach.

Lovely, peaceful, spacious Villa

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children who thoroughly enjoyed our 10 day stay at this lovely villa.

The house was just like the pictures. We loved the personal touches and huge pool. It was everything we needed for a relaxing week in the sunshine. Would definitely recommend.

Jalon is the capital of the Jalon Valley, also known as the Vall de Pop, situated beside the River Gorgos, in a plain, surrounded by the Sierra de Bernia and the Sierra del Forner mountains.
Jalon boasts some of the most magnificent scenery in Spain, with its landscape of olive and pine trees, intermingled with orange groves and vineyards and its remote villages.

The Jalon Valley is famous for its wines, the bodegas of Jalon produce a very fine Moscatel, as well as some excellent full bodied reds; there are several bodegas in the region that are worth a visit to sample the delicious wines.

Jalon has an interesting and exciting local gastronomy. Famous for its sweets and pastries made with local almonds.

The Jalon Valley enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, it can get very hot during the summer and in the winter the area is protected against the cold north winds by the surrounding mountains.

The area averages nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine each year and the average temperature easily exceeds 20 degrees. In 1986 the World Health Organisation recommended the climate of the area as one of the most equitable in the world - neither too hot in the summer nor too cold in the winter. On average it can boast 325 sunny days each year making it an ideal all year round destination.
