About the property

Ideal for short stays and relaxing holidays

The three bedroom link-detached barn is situated in a peaceful quiet hamlet close to amenities and local attractions of Haughley Park and Ixworth House.

The property is in an enviable position with far reaching views in a group of 3 barns. There is outside parking for two or three cars at the back of the property on the block paved drive and on a gravelled area at the bottom of the front garden. Cars cannot be parked on concrete paths/road.

The barn is fully furnished with a fully equipped kitchen. Towels and linens are provided. The triple aspect vaulted barn room and Kitchen/Diner are the heart of the property perfect for family get togethers with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the peaceful location.

Accommodation comprises a master bedroom with a super king size bed and en-suite with a WC and shower. The 2nd bedroom has a double bed and the 3rd bedroom has bunk beds and a double sofa bed.

The family bathroom has a WC, bath and separate shower.

There is underfloor heating throughout and a central water softener.

The large vaulted ceiling in the main barn has a log burning stove.

The large kitchen diner also has vaulted ceilings, 5 ring electric range master, large fridge freezer and dishwasher.

A washing machine and a combination microwave oven can be found in the utility room.

A solid oak dining table comfortably seats 10. For visiting guests during your stay, the table has extension leaves and chairs to seat 14.

The property is nestled in the middle of an arable farm where there is no-through traffic. It is an ideal place for children to play safely.

Quiet country walks from straight outside the front door will take you to the most beautiful Suffolk country scenes. You will regularly see Hares, little owls, geese, partridge, pheasants and occasionally roe deer, muntjac deer and sometimes we have even seen red deer.

If you are looking for a peaceful rural get-a-way or for a comfortable base from which to explore the Suffolk countryside and local attractions - look no further!

IMPORTANT NOTE: You will see from the pictures that the barn contains hunting trophies. These are not to be touched under any circumstances as they are very valuable, old and irreplaceable. If prospective travelers will find them displeasing in any way, we politely request that you do not book our property.

About Mrs L Robertson

We are a family with two children and no pets. We live in London and have spent many of our weekends in Suffolk when our children were young. They learnt to ride their bikes here and learnt to love the countryside away from the busy streets of London. We have less time to spend in our weekend home and want to share our beautiful piece of England with others.

Mrs L Robertson purchased this barn in 2007

Why Mrs L Robertson chose Bury St Edmunds

The most impressive aspect of this property is its quiet location and stunning views.

The barn is one of 3 conversions completed in 2007. Three barns behind the property is privately owned and in the process of being developed.

Despite the modest exterior, the interior is spacious and comfortable. It is furnished to an excellent standard as we still use the property as our second home.

The barn room and master bedroom are double aspect and the kitchen diner is triple aspect which makes for a wonderfully bright, light and airy feel to the barn. Being a significant distance away from the road one can appreciate the beauty of the country side with far reaching views.

The peaceful and quiet surroundings with the added benefit of blackout blinds to the south facing bedrooms ensure a restful nights sleep for guests.

What makes this barn unique

The barn is an excellent base for anyone wanting a bolt hole to relax and unwind.

The barn will suit families but is equally remote and cosy for a romantic get-a-way.

It is close to local attractions such as Haughley Park, Ixworth House, Needham Lake, Thornham Magna but it is also an excellent spot for quiet country walks.

For rainy days, parents with younger children will appreciate the excellent facilities at mid Suffolk leisure center just 10 mins drive away - fantastic swimming pool with training pool for younger children as well as a large soft play center and gym and studio.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"Thank you for letting us share your lovely barn. I understand we were the first visitors you have had.

It was superb. It felt homely without feeling like we had walked into someone's home.

Overall it was very clean and we all thought the beds were very comfortable.

The quality of the furnishings was excellent and personally I loved the friendly Zebra!"

A fantastic location, and a lovely, tastefully decorated property

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this wonderful property for two nights. Plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 children. We were up to celebrate a relatives birthday - so already had activities lined up. But it was very reassuring to know there was a nice place to return to. The bottle of wine and cake were certainly a delightful treat on our arrival. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect Getaway

Beautiful barn finished to a high standard. Spent a few very comfortable nights at this property and it has everything that is needed. The owner was contactable and very friendly. The views were simply lovely, we walked to the nearest pub which was great. Would definitely book again.

Very peaceful area with lovely surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a 5 day break, I stayed with two children and my mother. We all really enjoyed our stay in the very well equipped barn. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings with far reaching views where the children were safe to play. All of the neighbours were very friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed the quirky decor at the barn which was clean and tidy. Would love to stay again in the future. Only thing that would improve the barn would be a bbq as we had such lovely weather, and a wardrobe to hang clothes.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind review. We really appreciate the feedback as this is a relatively new venture for us. The barn has been our weekend home exclusively for 10 years now. Perhaps it's time for us to move our clothes out and free up the wardrobe for our guests 😊 Hopefully you will return to enjoy the pergola with a seating area and BBQ in the walled garden that we are having built soon 😊

The house is amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed our time there, it was so peaceful and the location is great. There is a pub within walking distance, about a mile away, which is the perfect place to go for a cheap pint!

Lochana couldn't have been more lovely and helpful, thank you for making our weekend a memorable one!

Also we had a few people in the group who were a bit shocked by the hunting trophies, but they all said that after a little while they were completely fine, you almost forget they're there!

Absolutely amazing house and host, would recommend to everyone!

Spacious, peaceful and well-equipped barn

  • 5 of 5

An excellent single storey building with minimal steps, wide doorways and fenced garden where small children can play safely. I hired the barn for additional family members who flew in to visit over the Christmas holidays; they found the barn extremely comfortable and furnished to a high standard with every gadget you could imagine! My disabled mother also visited the property and she managed to negotiate the rooms very well. The large dining table in the kitchen area where people could congregate was a great asset and the living area had plenty of room for people to sit and children to play. Plenty of linen and towels were also provided. Internet access is available and strongest in kitchen/living area. I would have no hesitation in recommending the barn and we hope to hire it again in 2017 when my family make a return visit.
