About the property

3 bed / 3 bath house with amazing mountain and sea views, pool, wifi and A/C

Situated in Pueblo Valtocado, a spectacular residential area located high on Mijas Mountain and less than a five minutes drive from the renowned village of Mijas, the house offers three well-appointed bedrooms with three bathrooms and sleeps up to six adults in comfort.

Set over two floors, the three bedrooms and two bathrooms are on the upper level with the living area, dining area and kitchen plus additional bathroom and WC on the ground floor level.

There are two terraces, both offering stunning, unobstructed mountain and sea views across the surrounding countryside with the coast of Africa visible on clear days. The upper terrace has table and four chairs whilst the main terrace/patio is supplied with BBQ, sun beds, parasols and external sofa, dining table and chairs.

The bedrooms comprise one double-bedded room and two twin-bedded rooms. The first has French doors leading to a large balcony and the second French doors and Juliet balcony. The third room has a large window looking out to the front of the property. The well lit bathrooms all contain a shower, WC and hand basin plus one is fitted with a full-length bath.

There is a large open plan dining and lounge area which is beautifully furnished with an extendable dining table and seating for six plus a breakfast bar to the kitchen area. Two full size patio doors bring the outside terrace and views into the living area.

All living rooms and bedrooms areas have air-conditioning and heating installed which are individually programmable. In addition all bedrooms are fitted with ceiling fans.

The well-equipped kitchen includes washing machine, dryer, cooker and hob, microwave, fridge freezer and all cooking and dining utensils and facilities. It has a glazed door opening to a small outside area.

All guests are provided with their own good quality house towels and additional towels are provided for use at the beach or pool. All bed linen, duvets and additional blankets are provided along with ample pillows.

There is a large pool approximately 50 metres from the house available for the exclusive use of residents and guests and is set in attractive and well maintained garden area with mountain views.

Excellent walking is available within a minute or two of the house amongst pine trees, wild almond, olive and orange trees with easy access to a choice of well marked paths. These offer outstanding walks with spectacular viewpoints to local villages and across Mijas Mountain, joining up with a vast network of paths across the adjacent mountain ranges and down towards the coast.

A friendly welcome and introduction to the house is provided on your arrival and both local and UK phone numbers are provided should you require any assistance or support during your stay. We work closely with Michele and Martin who live close by and who have a wealth of knowledge and experience of the area to help you enjoy all that this region of Spain has to offer.

Mijas is the closest village and is within a few minute drive or can be reached via a beautiful walk (beautiful but undulating !). Mijas is an amazing traditional whitewashed Spanish village which has managed to retain much of its "white village" charm, with cobbled, narrow winding streets, and breathtaking views.

The village was founded in prehistoric times and has had Greek, Roman and Moorish occupation followed up by many changes in more recent history. The ͚modern͛ village was completed in the early 18th century and covers the ruins of a Moorish castle and tours of the village are available by donkey taxi and tuk–tuk͛s.

Valtocado is just a short drive away from its nearest beaches at Fuengirola and Cala de Mijas and its miles of golden sands. All the major resorts of the Costa de Sol are easily accessible from the excellent motorway access and range from renowned hotspots such as Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Marbella to small, pine fringed beaches and pretty harbours.

Head west and within a few miles you will be driving through extensive pine forests and olive, almond and orange groves and climbing into nearby mountain ranges. Spectacular mountain locations such as Ronda, El Chorro and the Caminito del Ray walk are all within easy travelling distance and Gibraltar and a fast ferry services to Morocco are around a 75 - 90 minutes drive away.

There are over 25 golf courses within 30 minutes of the house including the International Alhaurin Golf Course which is just a 5 minutes and Mijas Golf which is less than 15 minutes. Excellent tennis facilities are also available at Alhaurin.

Further afield skiing is available at the established resort at Sierra Nevada two hours away or visit the area outside of the ski season to see Granada and Alhambra Palace.

About Les & Rosemary

Hi..............We have been married since 1980 and both live and work near Canterbury in Kent for an organisation providing childcare services and education. We have two adult children and two grandsons.

We have visited this area of Spain on numerous occasions over the past 15 years as holidaymakers and decided to buy a property for our longer term future use. We work closely with our friends and business partners (Michele and Martin) who live a few minutes from the house and who will provide a warm welcome and introduction to our home from home and ensure that you have every assistance during your stay to make your holiday as perfect as we can make it.

If you have any questions or require further information about the area or house please do not hesitate to contact us by email or phone for an informal chat. We want you to be fully confident of your holiday arrangements and totally happy with your stay and thereafter to become a returning guest and be able to recommend us to your family and friends.

Why Les & Rosemary chose Mijas

We were asked - Why this property? ............From the first moment we saw the pictures on the agents website of the views across the hills and countryside to the distant mountains and sea we were 90% convinced. This was confirmed on our first visit having seen the modern functionality and practical layout of the house along with it's beautiful main terrace and balcony set in a small complex of 30 properties high in the Mijas mountains surrounded by stunning countryside in all directions.

We discovered a mixture of nationalities, both residents and holidaymakers, some retired and some with young families which all created a safe, welcoming and friendly environment.

A lovely pool and well kept grounds, tranquil location with beautiful walks, a local tapas bar a few minutes stroll away plus Mijas village on the doorstep and excellent access to the airport, motorway network and the main resorts of the Costa del Sol made our final choice easy.

What makes this house unique

When asked about the unique benefits of the house the first answers are always the views and location.

The views from the living room, two bedrooms and terrace and balcony are spectacular, perched high in the hills overlooking a wide stretch of the Costa del Sol coastline and distant views of the African coast. The view changes throughout the day but from the moment the sun appears over the nearest hillside until it sets across the distant mountain range it is always amazing. Additionally, a welcoming breeze often keeps temperatures slightly more manageable than on the coast during the summer months.

The house is situated in the peace and tranquility of Valtocado surrounded by walks amongst pine trees, wild almond, olive and orange trees whilst only minutes away from beautiful Mijas and cosmopolitan Alhaurin and easy access to the main motorway network (under 10 minutes) that opens up the renowned resorts and facilities that the Costa del Sol and Andalusia has to offer.

Luxurious Accommodation

This was our first stay in this property, and it certainly won't be our last. Our immediate impression was how well the accommodation presented; exceptionally clean, spacious, high quality furnishings and equipment, as well as an array of extras such as books, games, even a well stocked larder. It was apparent that attention had not only been paid to the home in general, but to the small details quite often overlooked. There were ample supplies of clean towels, bedding, cleaning materials, and access to a washing machine and drier. Free wi-fi was also available and the signal strength was excellent. Our hostess, Michelle, was extremely friendly and knowledgable; nothing felt like too much trouble.

The communal swimming pool was an added bonus, and once again was maintained to a high standard. Parking was not an issue at all, and the neighbours were very friendly.

With the mountains being within touching distant, my husband and teenaged son took advantage of them went out for the day ona hike. There are a number of trails you can take, all of which are clearly identified; they decided to do one that took approximately five hours and I am told was worth it. The views were incredible.

Mijas itself did not disappoint, with a number of shops, restaurants, parks and fabulous views across the Gibraltar Strait where on a clear day, you can see Morroco. Mijas is in a good position for travelling to nearby tourist resorts such as Marbella, Torremolinos and Gibraltar, locations that provide different things to the cultural table.

In conclusion, one week was not long enough to truly appreciate our stay at this fantastic property. We will definitely be returning, but for longer next time.

Comfortable family home with beautiful views

The accommodation, is a modern town house set over 2 floors with plenty of space, balcony's with lovely views and plenty of outside space for entertaining such as barbequing or enjoying watching the sunset with a glass of wine.

Everything a family would need has been provided by the owners and is decorated and furnished to a very high standard.

The beds were really comfortable and there was Wi-Fi available with a good signal and a selection of DVD's as well as English television channels. There is also a communal swimming pool close by to enjoy a cool and refreshing dip in the hot sun.

It was a home from home and would highly recommend this as a lovely place to stay. Thank you.

Great property

We had a wonderful stay in fabulous, comfortable accommodation beautiful views with always something different to see dependant on the weather. The kitchen was well equipped for our needs as the coffee machine a real bonus. This was a short trip this time but we very much hope to return again for longer.

Great Views from a very comfortable holiday home.

As we were on a bowling holiday we were not able to spend too much time in the house but the time we did spend there was great. The location in the mountains is fabulous. We would be back if the Bowls Tournament is held at Mijas Bowling Club and Lauro Golf Bowling club again.

rest and recuperation in the Mijas hills.

lovely place ,nicely situated with wonderful views. Not too keen on the road up to the property though and you cannot walk down to Mijas village on the road it is not safe. However I am aware for some folks it is an area for walkers up into the hills. .

For the benefit of others we would say that some guests do walk to Mijas but use the local footpaths and not via the road which runs along Mijas mountain. It is a typical country / mountain road and has limited pavements so does need a degree of care. Given the terrain any walking in the area is reasonably strenuous but as you mentioned the network of well signposted mountain footpaths do offer spectacular views and are extremely popular.

Lovely villa with everything needed for a family just perfect

We were greeted by Michelle who gave us the grand tour and was always available and very helpful. The villa is lovely beautiful views and very peaceful we hired a car though not necessary, because the taxi service is very good. Had no dramas whatsoever,just wish we had stayed longer!! There were 4 adults and two young children but the owners provided a cot and high chair which helped no end although we ate out a lot we also cooked a few meals in and the kitchen was so easy to use. Overall the villa was a huge success and we would love to return again soon thanks so very much
