About Gregor

My name is Gregor and grew up in the area before moving to Edinburgh and beyond for study and work. I returned to the area in 2010 after tiring of city life. I normally work in health and safety or lifting operations but have previously worked in finance, education among others.

Gregor purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Gregor chose Inverness

I love this house because I have transformed it over the last couple of years, which has been a lot of work but also a labour of love. I love its country feel, its country style kitchen looking out onto the mature garden, the living room with its wood burner for relaxing in front of the fire whilst watching movies or simply enjoying a good book and glass of wine. I may be biased and undoubtedly it has been decorated to my tastes, but it has been decorated with comfort in mind, from the sofa, to the beds, to the fire, to the views from the kitchen window to the garden. Even the walk into town is beautiful along the River Ness over the bridge past the Cathedral to the town centre all in under 5 mins.

I love the garden and the birds which are attracted into it.

You can also access the main arterial road routes from here and be outside Inverness on route into the Highlands in under 5 mins. The banks of Loch Ness can be reached in 10 mins by car, the Spa town of Strathpeffer in 20 mins or some of the UK's best golf courses in 30 mins. Some of the Championship courses designed by Tom Morris and James Braid include Royal Dornoch, Brora, Tain, Castle Stuart, Nairn, Nairn Dunbar and Moray - not a bad collection of courses within easy reach for the golfer.

Similarly many of the famous tourist attractions are within easy drive with the Caledonian Canal a mere 5 minute walk away as are most bars and restaurants.

What makes this cottage unique

Its unique benefits are its size, proximity to the town centre, access to the supermarket with a large garden for the children to play in and its closeness to the Caledonian Canal and Waterfront bar and restaurant. It really is ideally situated.

Our new best friend!

  • 5 of 5

Gregor's place was great for our little group of adventurers! It would have been perfect if it had 1 more "water closet", LOL! (We had 1 guy and 5 women vying for that sacred space!) But it didn't stop us from enjoying everything the house had to offer! The location was superb! And the "icing on the cake" was catching our most charming host on an "off" day and inviting him to join us for our adventure to the coast and castles! He was excellent driver and would make an excellent tour guide!! (Hint, hint...get that luxury tour van now!) I would recommend this place to any size group! Loved, loved, loved it! We all think Gregor is our new best friend in Inverness and hope to visit him again!

Owner's Response: Hi guys, thank you for the lovely review and hope you enjoyed the rest of the trip and had a safe journey home. Hopefully next year I can get the bus and get things moving with that. It really was lovely to have met you all and really hope our paths cross again, either in the Highlands, or over in the States. Always a great thing in life to meet great people. All my best wishes Gregor

Perfect location for visiting Inverness. Gregor was always available by email and his mom, Ann was an absolute charmer. There was bacon and eggs, cheese and champagne waiting for us upon arrival, just to get us started. The kitchen was well equipped and there was a nice back yard. It was nice having three bedrooms and although the shower was a bit tricky we figured it out just fine. We all enjoyed our time in Inverness and I recommend visiting Gregor here whenever you come to stay.

Lovely Cottage. Great host

  • 5 of 5

Cottage is in a great location and is really well kitted out, with a nice garden and a great wood burner, but what raised the cottage up to 5 stars was the host, Gregor, great local knowledge & couldn’t have been more helpfull. We loved it

Lovely cosy cottage in brilliant location

  • 4 of 5

Gregor was a fantastic host, there was a fire burning in the hearth and the cottage was comfortable and suited our needs perfectly. Comfy beds, clean and a bottle of champagne in the fridge. Brilliant!

Comfy Quarters Close to Everything

  • 4 of 5

My family of five stayed for three nights and had a great time. The big comfy living room was a great place to hang out in the evenings, and the conservatory was a cheery place to start the day with breakfast overlooking the pretty backyard garden. The only bathroom needs updating. Gregor, our host, was very communicative and responsive before and during our stay; he's exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable about things to do in the area, and so generous he even stocked the fridge with a bottle of wine and some breakfast goodies. Loved Gregor. The heart of Inverness is less than a 10-minute walk across a unique (and bouncy!) footbridge over the river. Recommended.
