Firstly, we would like to thank you for considering to stay in Sol y Mar, we are always excited to have visitors and really hope we have done all we can to ensure you will have a wonderful stay.

THE APARTMENT

Upon arrival, the property immediately greets you with a traditional Spanish feel with its white washed walls and mature, landscaped gardens. When you enter Sol y Mar you will find a Welcome Guide, rules of the apartment and free Welcome Hamper from us which consists of coffee, tea, milk, sugar, bread, margarine, jam, eggs, orange juice, water and toilet rolls. This will give you time to settle in and take in the surroundings before having to rush off to the shops. Sol y Mar is a two bed, penthouse apartment that has a lovely feel as it is modern and spacious, but maintains a Moorish character that is traditional to this part of Spain. Within the apartment you will find you have all the modern features and appliances you would expect to have for a relaxing holiday. These include free air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, huge selection of international TV channels to include Sky & BT, sports, movies, NETFLIX etc. Smart televisions in each bedroom and front room, kettle, toaster, oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, iron, ironing board, integrated washing machine and tumble dryer and a clothes dryer. Sol y Mar ideally sleeps up to 4 people, but could accommodate 6 as a maximum. One fold up bed is available for free and another can be hired. It is ideal for couples, families or groups of friends. The terrace provides a partial sea view and overlooks the pool and gardens. If you fancy some outside dining then the balcony provides a great atmosphere if you don't feel like going out for a meal in one of the many restaurants in the area. The balcony has a barbecue, lanterns, traditional tiling, mosaic table, benches and loungers. All you need is food, drink and music playing in the background for a great night in. Being a family ourselves we welcome children and have done what we can to ensure everything is as child-friendly as possible i.e. hidden cables where possible, televisions wall mounted etc. For infants we also have a high-chair, baby utensils and a travel cot which again is free of charge! (Just bring your own baby linen). We provide you with free linen and towels (except beach towels) and if you're staying for 2 weeks or more we also provide you with a free weekly linen change, consisting of a change of sheets, pillows, mats and towels. Please note, we do not allow smoking or pets inside the apartment and should you require a cleaner we can arrange this for you at an additional cost of £20 per hour.

APARTMENT GROUNDS

Sol y Mar has been built in a traditional style with beautifully maintained gardens, communal swimming pool, children's pool, showers and toilet facilities. The pool is a salt water pool as opposed to chlorine based. This is great news for all guests (especially those with sensitive skin and children) who intend to use the pool during their stay, as it has the following benefits:

A low chlorine content which is less harmful to the skin, hair and bathing costumes. It is also gentle on the eyes, so you can safely open them whilst swimming and has no smell of chlorine.

Facing south-westerly the apartment and grounds are great for when you want to laze around and grab some sun.

GREAT LOCATION

It is only a 25 minute drive from the airport.

Between two other famous resorts- 15 minutes drive from Fuengirola and 20 minutes from Marbella.

Just over a 10 minute walk to the local beach, under 10 minutes to the local shops, restaurants, bus stops and taxi rank.

The taxi rank is situated at the bottom of Riviera del Sol, so if you don't feel like walking, a taxi is always near by.

Great transport links, as the road to take you along the Costa del Sol is near the taxi rank.

Between two other very popular beaches (La Cala de Mijas and Calahonda) which can be reached by transport or by walking along the beach board walk or coastal path (just over 10 minutes away from the apartment) which coincidentally is the Number 1 of Things to Do on Trip Advisor in the local area.

A large variety of restaurants in the Riviera del Sol area to cater for all tastes. Three of which are in the top 30 in the whole of Mijas on TripAdvisor.

WEATHER

The Costa del Sol is renowned for its weather and climate. Being in Southern Spain it usually boasts 320 days of sun every year, so whenever you choose to visit it's always a great location to be.

TRANSPORT FROM MALAGA AIRPORT

You can pick up a taxi outside the arrival hall of T3, but you may have to wait around. If you do not want to wait for a taxi, It may be better to pre-book a taxi so a driver can meet you in the arrivals hall. Alternatively, you could get the train from Malaga Airport to Fuengirola station and pick up a taxi or bus from there.

PEACE OF MIND

Our property managers are available 24/7 to look after our apartment and yourself should you have any queries, concerns, an emergency or if you want to book trips. They are based only a few minutes away, so you can be assured we will do all we can to make it a holiday to remember.

OTHER INFORMATION

The pool is usually closed during the cooler periods of the year (usually from 31st October and reopens Palm Sunday).

Numbers are based on a maximum of 2 guests per bedroom. Extra guests can be accommodated, just ask us to quote you accordingly.

If the amount of people stipulated in the reservation is exceeded in any way, this will result in an immediate expulsion with no right of reimbursement.

You must ensure no damage has occurred during the letting period and that the property has been left in a reasonable condition with all rubbish removed from the property (this is so it can be quickly prepared for the next guests). Claims against the damage deposit will only be made in the event of any damage caused other than normal fair wear and tear and/or if abnormal cleaning/laundry is required.

About Jason & Debbie

Hello,

Our names are Jason and Debbie, we are married, have three children and from Deal, Kent in England. Deal is a lovely place based on the coast and we are only a short walk away from the town and the beach.

We are also lucky enough to have another property on the Costa del Sol known as Riviera del Sol, which is in Mijas Costa, Spain and is available for you to rent for your holidays.

We believe in being honest and not greedy. We would rather have our prices very competitive and achieve more bookings, offering you our paying guest great value for money (considering the quality on offer) and hopefully repeat bookings and referrals for us.

Why Jason & Debbie chose Mijas

When we were looking for a property to purchase we wanted something that had a traditional, peaceful, homely feel to it, but was within walking distance to the beach, shops, restaurants and public transport links. To us, this property fitted perfectly with what we would like as a couple, as well as a family.

It is a beautiful apartment that has been completely renovated which combines modern and traditional Moorish character.

From the outside, the property immediately greets you with a traditional Spanish feel with its white washed walls and mature, landscaped gardens. We decided to continue with a Moorish theme throughout the property and terrace, which really does make you feel you are immersed in a culture, rather than just another holiday let.

We also liked the fact we could view the sea and the communal swimming pool which has a children's pool, showers and toilet facilities. Also, not all the apartments are let out to tourists, many are permanent residents and belong to owners of many different nationalities. Being a small community of 65 home owners, it really does have a cosy feel about it.

The location is fantastic!

It is only 25 minutes drive from the airport.

15 minutes from Fuengirola and 20 minutes from Marbella.

10 minute walk to the beach.

10 minute walk to the shops, restaurants, bus stop and taxi rank.

The weather here is glorious and usually boasts 320 days of sun every year!

Beautiful apartment

We were very impressed by the apartment, so clean, comfortable and modern with lots of space. The grounds are lovely too, well maintained and everywhere was clean. It's a quiet, residential neighbourhood and an 8 minute walk down to some amenities. Of course "down" implies a walk back up, but if you have no mobility issues it is not too difficult. Everything was exactly as advertised, which is always a relief when renting, and I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to relax in the sun.

Just returned from staying at Sol y Mar for a month. Highly recommend this apartment. Kitchen well equipped, lounge comfortable with excellent wifi service and multiple TV channels. Shower hot and powerful and double bed really comfortable. Good size balcony with pool view. Owners are very helpful and deposit returned speedily. Good management company on hand if you need assistance.

Perfect just as the images show

What can I say. Jason and Debbie have been amazing from the point of booking to receiving our deposit back.

They were so accommodating especially when Monarch airline went out of business we had to change dates and flights. Whilst I appreciate they could only accommodate this if the apartment was free, they did so without any hesitation. The apartment is just as the images show. There's everything you need for your stay. A walk away from bars and the fab beach boardwalk where you can walk all the way on to La Cala De Mijas. There's a great little bar on route where you can sit and look out to sea. The bus route if you don't want a car is great we love a trip into Marbella to Orange Square. Jason also advised we go visit Malaga City especially as we were there for Christmas and New Year. This did not disappoint, so much so we are looking to book a weekend City break. Would we recommend, yes we would without hesitation. Thank you both for a lovely stay in your gorgeous apartment.

Lovely apartment in a great complex

The apartment was great with a good functional kitchen, decent sized bedrooms and balcony overlooking the pool area. The pool and gardens were well cared for and were ideal for relaxing on the lovely sunny days we experienced whilst we were there. We enjoyed the apartment very much and everything was spotlessly clean.

The "Welcome pack" was gladly accepted when we first arrived and we thought this was a lovely touch. The free Wi-Fi and use of Netflix was also appreciated.

Ideally, the use of a car would have improved our holiday as it was a walk down to the bar and restaurants which was fine but we did find the walk back (up hill) took it's toll on the older members of our group. We did use taxi's much of the time to travel back to the apartment and this made life easier.

We made good use of the bus service along the coast road, visiting the many beaches along the way and travelling further afield on some occasions which was easy to do.

The reason I have given 4 stars rather than 5 is purely due to the walk back to the apartment from the road but if you hire a car or jump in a taxi this isn't an issue.

Thanks for everything Debbie and Jason - all in all, staying at your apartment was a very enjoyable experience.

5* apartment, excellent holiday.

We’ve just returned from a 2 week stay at Jason & Debbie’s apartment.

The apartment is located in a quiet residential area, but is only 10 minutes walk from the beach and a number of restaurants. (Some at the top of the hill near the golf course and another good selection about 15 minutes walk in nearby Callahonda, close to the management office)

Even during the school holidays the complex was very quiet with just a handful of families around the pool. The apartment itself is excellent and is fully equipped with everything you’ll need for a self-catering holiday. When we didn’t eat out, we were able to prepare and cook a number of meals in the apartment’s lovely kitchen and then dined on the balcony overlooking the pool.

If you want to go further afield, the local bus stop is very easy and convenient, allowing access to any resort along the coastline. During the 2nd week we hired a car and travelled to the stunning villages of Mijas Pueblo and Ronda, we also had a day out in Gibraltar and the fantastic City of Malaga and also a very enjoyable afternoon at La Canada Shopping Centre near Marbella. We even managed to get to a Malaga football match. (Initially we were a little bit apprehensive about hiring a car and driving in an unfamiliar area, but with the help of the ‘maps app’ on our mobile phone , it was all very simple and we even managed to drop the car off at the airport prior to our flight home, again all of which was very straight forward)

All in all we have a great time - thank you to Jason and Debbie for allowing us to stay in your wonderful apartment.

The apartment and complex were as perfect as you could ask for! Lovely area!

Sol y Mar was the perfect apartment in the perfect complex. There is nothing that the owners have not thought of, the apartment is so lovely and so homely. It was truly a home from home. The complex was perfect, great security and the pool was ideal for the kids. It was quiet generally around the pool so we didn't have the usual fears around the water. The only real downside for us was the location. It was somewhat out of La Cala de Mijas which I wasn't expecting. However, if we were to go again we would just hire a car. Brilliant....wonderful family time. Thank you.

Just so other guests who don't like to drive abroad understand the location and distance from La Cala de Mijas...it is approximately a 40 minute walk or 15 minute cycle ride on the coastal board walk (which is definitely something to do, as the views are beautiful). Along the way there are bars and restaurants that you can stop to get refreshments from as well. Alternatively, you can get the bus which will take about 10 minutes. Thanks again, Jason & Debbie

Sol y Mar lies between the elegant Marbella and lively town of Fuengirola. By staying here you can truly experience the best of both worlds knowing you can come back to a peaceful apartment at the end of the evening. Within Riviera del Sol you will find everything you need- there are bars, restaurants, supermarkets, sports facilities, beaches and great links and walks to neighbouring towns should you want to experience something new.

Whilst staying at Sol y Mar you will also have the peace of mind knowing our property managers who look after our apartment are there to help you should you have any queries, concerns or an emergency. They are available 24/7 and their office is only a few minutes away from the apartment.

Public Transport

The whole of the Costa del Sol has a good public transport system which is very reasonably priced. The local bus service runs from Marbella to Fuengirola about every 30 minutes. Although the journey takes longer, it stops at lots of beaches, villages and attractions along the way. Bus stops are located at the beginning of Riviera del Sol. The bus stop near Riviera Plaza (shopping complex) heads towards Marbella. To head towards Fuengirola you need to walk through the underpass (beach side). It is only a 10 minute walk away from the apartment.

Driving

The A-7/N-340 runs along all the Costa del Sol and is situated near the taxi rank at the beginning of Riviera del Sol (10 minute walk away).

Taxis

The local taxi rank can be found at the entrance of Riviera del Sol (opposite the park).

The Local Area

There are numerous shops, restaurants and bars within easy reach of the apartment which are located towards the entrance and top end of Riviera del Sol. The nearest is Riviera Plaza. It is only an 8 minute walk away and has numerous retail outlets in and around the centre which includes restaurants, bars, a bank, bureau de change, café, mini-markets, newsagent, tobacconists, pharmacy etc. Across the road from Riviera Plaza is Parque Princesa Diana which has a children's play area and gardens.

If you continue past Riviera Plaza and turn left at the roundabout you will also find Riviera Comercial which is only 4 minutes away. Again, it hosts numerous businesses.

If you head north on Av del Golf, turn right on to Calle Acuario and continue to walk you will come across a mini-market, restaurants, bars etc.

SunCycle is a newly renovated gym, it has very good facilities and has various fitness classes. It is only a 5 minute walk away and you can join on a daily, weekly or monthly membership.

Miraflores Golf Club is 5 minutes by car or 20 minute walk. It has the following facilities: 18 Hole Golf Course, Driving Range, Restaurant, Bar, Entertainment.

Miraflores Lawn Bowls Club is a 15 minute walk. Facilities include 8 Rink Greens, Bar, Food, Club Room.

The Local Beach

Is just over a 10 minute walk away and is generally quieter than most of the other beaches in the nearby area. It also has restaurants, beach bars “Chiringuitos” and a coastal path that connects to the nearby towns and beaches of La Cala de Mijas and Calahonda with plenty of places to stop for refreshments along the way.

Large Supermarkets

There are numerous local large supermarkets, all will take no longer than approximately 5 minutes by car.

Large Shopping Complexes

La Canada and Miramar are two shopping complexes that have a huge variety of activities which include shops, cinema, kids clubs, bowling, restaurants and hypermarket. By car, La Canada will take approximately 20 minutes and Miramar 10 minutes.

Extra Costs
You agree to pay our property managers directly for any extra facilities you require that have not been arranged by ourselves e.g. cleaning, hiring of additional beds etc.
Numbers are based on a maximum of 2 guests per bedroom. We have a free fold up bed for a 5th guest. A 6th guest can be accommodated at an extra cost, please ask us to quote you accordingly.
You will receive your damage deposit once our property managers have confirmed that no damage has occurred during the letting period and that the property has been left in a reasonable condition with all rubbish removed from the property (this is so it can be quickly prepared for the next guests). Claims against the deposit will only be made in the event of any damage caused other than normal fair wear and tear and/or if abnormal cleaning/laundry is required.

Use of Pool Facilities
We cannot accept responsibility if the pool is closed due to unforeseeable circumstances. It is more common for the pool to be closed during the cooler periods of the year (mainly low season and some parts of mid season) for maintenance and repairs, as it is generally too cold for swimming.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
