About the property

Superb property sleeps 10 with 4 beds 3 bath gardens on river 500m to lake

"La Scierie" ("Sawmill") is a beautifully converted 16th century wood-cutting mill formerly powered by a water-wheel. The property sits above its own Alpine stream and in close proximity to the cascading waterfall of Angon. This lovely property has retained many of its charming features including the large outer water-wheel, internal iron wheel mechanisms and cutting saw. Located in the picture postcard hamlet of Angon, Talloires.

The property is set on three levels. The ground level is a very large, open plan space with three large sofas, large dining table and high-spec, modern open-plan kitchen with significant cooking area and breakfast bar. There is also a separate W.C and bedroom on this floor with en-suite shower room. The first floor has three bedrooms 2 double and one family room sleeping 2-4 people. One bedroom has an en-suite bathroom (and separate access to the en-suite from the landing), one bedroom with en-suite shower room, one W.C.

The lower ground floor has a utility room and access to the bar room which contains the inner workings of the water wheel. This house is a very social space, particularly on the ground floor. There is also a bar area on the lower ground floor if the adults want time away from the children in the evening.

The terrasse off the lounge has large day beds and sofas and connects the upper floor garden via a bridge where the outdoor dining area is located.

A stone staircase leads to the large lower garden overlooking the river.

Note : There is the possibility to rent an exclusive part of the house , that is normally closed off to guests , please contact us if interested . There would be a price supplement added

Why Michelle and Claude chose Talloires

For those in search for elegance and comfort and the peace and quiet of the small French village, yet with all the urban facilities (shops and urban entertainement) on your door step and of course the amazing outdoor activities that Lake Annecy and the Aravis mountains have to offer (cycling, climbing, Watersport, airborne sports, skiing, trekking and exploring....amongst so many)

What makes this house unique

Amazing spaces, both external and internal; elegant, luxurious and exclusive; combining tradition and modern; great location.

Guestbook comments from the manager

A converted watermill nestled in the mountain but within walking distance of the lake this property is without a doubt unique and a real find for any nature lovers. The sound of a waterfall right beside the property creates a feeling of tranquility and the panoramic views from the spacious balcony are breathtaking. Luxurious fixtures and fittings it really is a home from home to suit all year round - big fireplace for winter visitors and plenty of patio furniture and outdoor space for summer visitors. Congratulations to the owners for preserving the mechanics of the watermill inside the property for all to see - it's amasing. The town of Annecy is a short car drive away and definitely worth a visit. The lake and mountains are out of this world. It really is a special place - I didn't want to leave.

The house was gorgeous and in a great location. Michelle and Claude were extremely responsive and always available, prior to booking and during our stay.

Beautiful house near Lac D'Annency

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house in the middle of a very small village. It was a very short walk to a very nice public been. You could walk to a the bigger village right next door which had all the services that you need and was very picturesque. A great base for all sorts of outdoor activities. Check out the canyoning trips that start right outside our door!

The outdoor area, in the summer, was great for hanging out and the in the evening the outdoor dining was great. The creek running right outside the property added a wonderful element to the stay

Just what we wanted, although one family room sleeps 4, but wasn't problem. Great space in living areas and good sympathetic attention from reps nearby when necessary

We enjoyed our stay in the beautiful house.

  • 4 of 5

We had a lovely time in Angon. We really enjoyed the beautiful house. It was complete, everything was available. The area is perfect: water, mountains and sun. We loved the garden of the house, with sun all day and the big covered terrass with lounge set.

We had a wonderful time with 10 people.

Located in a beautiful little village, quiet and typical but 100m from cycle lane around the lake and 300m to the lakefront, beach and marina to boat hire and water sports. Great little restaurants nearby and basic grocieries available from the local camping sites stores.
