Charming Mill with wonderful views and Wifi

Delightful house in wonderful rural setting, close to the attractive village of Nigüelas, on terraces overlooking the Rio Torrente valley, which runs into the broad and cheerful valley of Lecrín, between the fabled city of Granada and the tropical coast at Salobreña.

A former water-mill, fully modernised, beside a waterfall among trees at the head of the valley, facing south and bordering the Sierra Nevada National Park, the house is a marvellous retreat and base for adventure, in all seasons, excellent for keeping cool in summer, warmed by log fires in winter. Fabulous views. On edge of National Park – perfect setting for exploring mountains and valleys on foot, by bike or on horseback – wild life all around including ibex, eagles, genets, orioles, nightingales, hoopoes – good base for artists, photographers, naturalists.

The house is divided on two floors. On the ground floor, there is a fully equipped kitchen, living room with chimney and a dining room . 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. And a big garden with tables and chair.

On the second floor, you can find the remaining rooms, 2 bethrooms, one bathroom, sunny studio with wiews and good terrace with great views.

If you are looking for something different, unique and full of character then this is the place!

We chose the property initially because it was dog friendly. It's a great area for walking with limitless square miles of mountains literallly on the doorstep. Having mountain bikes with us was a huge bonus as there are mile after mile of 'white roads' through the mountains. The house is on one such road which provides a spectacular 9 km loop rising to over 2000 m before descending into the village where you can get coffee (and amazing home made cakes from the bread shop). The house itself is at the head of a valley and has wonderful views. There are ample outside areas/terraces to sun bathe and eat. It was very hot while we were there but the house was beautifully cool. I should imagine it would be a great place to stay in winter as there are wood burning fires and a good wood store. It had everything we required for a self-catering stay. We did find the drive up the white road to the property a little daunting the first time we used it but we soon got used to it.

Just south of the historic Moorish city of Granada, The Lecrin Valley is a lovely green, orchard-covered area at the foot of the dramatic Sierra Nevada mountains and within half an hour of the beautiful Costa Tropical. Perfect as a holiday destination, it’s away from the hustle and bustle of the coast, yet within easy reach, and only a short distance to the city of Granada.

Driving times are about 1 hour 15 from Malaga (with the newly completed motorway), 35 mins from Granada airport, 20 minutes to Granada city and 25 minutes to the Costa Tropical.
