Perfect little retreat
A wonderful little cottage that was cleverly designed and decorated. It was peaceful and tranquil and ideal spot to watch birds and wildlife from the conservatory whilst having breakfast. Useful information provided about local tourist spots and the history of the cottage and village. A very enjoyable stay.

Quiet & Comfortable
Compact, but not cramped. Had everything in the property that we needed for our short break - as well as a relaxing outlook over fields and bird feeders.

Best cottage
We booked this accommodation several days before we went; this has to be one of the cutest places I’ve ever stayed. It’s small but perfectly placed the owner has paid so much attention to detail. Additional plus points there was teas/coffees/milk/biscuits/filtered water in a jug ready for our arrival. We really appreciated this ad we didn’t have everything with us. Furthermore this is the cleanest place I’ve stayed in, I felt as though I was at home and that no other guests have stayed here before, this made massive different to my comfort. The conservatory has great views of the fields and wonderful for bird watchers. The gardens at the back has beautiful Japanese acres which I live amongst olive trees. But to top it up the host is just the best, Jane was there to meet us when we arrived, then a day later she checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this property. Thank you so Jane ☺️

About the host

Hosted by Paul and Jane Parry

Host profile image
Life-long lovers of Suffolk, Jane and Paul moved to the area over ten years ago. It was the amazing variety of landscape that drew them – from wild, never-ending shore lines and estuaries, to wetlands teeming with wild life. Time-warped little villages off the beaten track sit in lush hedgerow- lined country and flower rich meadows. There is art, music and theatre aplenty for those who need a change from field and beach. Come and stay in their small (but perfectly formed!) and beautifully appointed Beck Cottage Studio in one such lovely village. It‘s perfect for a short break or a week or two at any time of the year. Our cottage is adjacent to the Studio and we take great pleasure in greeting our guests where possible. We are on hand should the need arise.

Why they chose this property

We love the history of our house and Studio and living in this delightful rural village. No.33 formed part of the village smithy with No.32, Forge House, Old Forge Cottage and dates back to the late 18th and early 19th century. Part of our house was at one time a shop and sold petrol. We enjoy the lovely walks here.

What makes this property unique

Relaxing in the conservatory looking out over the beautiful view over the fields. A friendly village with interesting walks through pretty countryside. Our local pub, the Wissett Plough, is now the Jungle Room, a welcoming cafe and bar.
