About the property

Cottage Within Grounds Of Warslow Hall, Peak District National Park, England

The Bothy provides a unique and private location within the walls of Warslow Hall. The grounds provide outstanding walks via meandering paths and both formal and rustic bridges. that captivate the natural beauty of the woodlands and ponds that are connected by a series of cascading waterfalls. In particular during the months of May and June the rhododendrons are in full bloom and a spectacular sight. The Hall is situated between the higher reaches of the River Dove and Manifold Valley, the valleys providing access to both the White Peak and High Peak areas of the Peak District National Park. The historic market towns of Buxton, Leek, Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne are in easy reach. The magnificent Chatsworth House and gardens, Tissington Hall, Kedleston Hall and Haddon Hall are just a short drive. The picturesque villages of Hartington and Longnor are close by.

Lovely and quiet cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is located tucked away at the end of a private garden, with its own and sunny courtyard. It was nicely furnished with a settee, comfy chair, small dining table, tv and radio, and some personal touches in the form of old pictures of the main house. There is a large bed on a mezzanine overlooking the sitting area. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you might need for preparing your own meals. Although the cottage was located next to the road, we found it very quiet especially from late afternoon through the night. We felt very well looked after, with milk and tasty slices of cake left for us on arrival. There were also some lovely flowers, picked from the gardens. For us the location was perfect, within driving distance of some great walks. We had a great time and would highly recommend.

Perfect little cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were received and shown in by Roger and immediately felt at home with biscuits and cake on arrival and the fresh flowers, arranged by Monica. Monica and Bill are vey kind and will certainly help you out when needed. Bill was so kind to share some fresh veg from his beautiful garden. The bed is very comfortable, complete kitchen equipment. Unfortunately it was not cold enough to use the woodburner, so we wil have to come back to experience that too! Beautiful surroundings. Absolutely recommended!

Such a characterful little cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for four nights and just loved this little cottage. There were cake, biscuits and tea left out for us on arrival. The cottage is beautifully dressed with lots of little touches coming from the original owners of the estate. The grounds are lovely with a huge pond full of huge gold fish, which made a lovely walk in the evenings.

We used this cottage as a base for walking in the area and it is very near to many amazing scenic walks. We managed Dovedale from Ilam and Mam Tor, Hope Valley and Tissington. Also used our National Trust membership well in the car parks for these walks and two stately homes on our journey to and from the Peak District.

It was lovely to be able to book by the night and not just for a week.

Wifi was very useful as there is no phone coverage in the area at all!

Loved this cottage and would love to return.

A wonderfully relaxing experience..

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at The Bothy was fantastic. We had a lovely time and wanted for nothing.

When we arrived we met a very friendly man called Bill who gave us the key to get in as we were a little early, a short while later we met Monica who was lovely and she told us all we needed to know to make our stay most enjoyable. The cottage was very clean and cosy and had all the information you could wish for. I particularly liked the information on the history of Warslow Hall and also the descriptions of the wall art. The location was great for us to go out walking and exploring so we left the car parked up in its space and never used it :-) The welcome pack upon arrival was very nice gesture and appreciated..

The bed was very comfortable so we both slept very well after our long days out, although we were awoken a few times by a dog barking on Saturday night. Apart from that all you could here was the birds singing. We were never bothered by anyone and found it great that you could have a wonder around the grounds. The little table and chairs outside were nice to sit on in the sun and allowed you to enjoy a drink while topping up your tan.. I could go on a lot longer about how much we enjoyed our stay here but I really recommend you try it yourself, I'm sure you would be very happy with your stay.. Thank you for the experience, Aron & Gail..
