Luxury three bed two bath villa, amazing views of La Herradura, private pools

A lovely, comfortable three bedroom holiday home with amazing views of La Herradura Bay and access to large private family pools and two padel tennis courts.

The house is on the hill of Cerro Gordo on the private development of Carmenes del Mar just a short 3 km drive or 30 minute walk downhill to the beach and a choice of lovely restaurants. The town of La Herradura has a gorgeous horseshoe bay and marina, fantastic beaches, sea front bars and restaurants, shops and daily food market: it offers everything you need.

La Herradura offers plenty of activity and entrainment choices; there is excellent water sports facilities including diving, wind surfing, SUP and sailing. There are miles of walking and mountain biking trails and the opportunity for hang-gliding. Or if you prefer you can watch the town football team, watch a movie at the summer outdoor cinema, or enjoy some of the local concerts and festivals.

The town house is a 3 storey property. On the top floor there is a large south facing terrace with modern dining furniture to seat six and lounge furniture, with two awnings to cover each of these areas; you can choose to relax in the sun or shade.

The large, light and airy lounge and dining area has two double glass doors giving access and views to terrace. The lounge has a 50" HD television with UK satellite TV channels, a DVD player and free Wi-Fi. . There are two large modern sofas, a contemporary dining table and chairs, coffee tables, storage units and a ceiling fan.

On the same level there is a well equipped, modern kitchen also with patio doors to the terrace. The fully equipped kitchen has a family size fridge freezer, ceramic hob, electric oven, washing machine and breakfast table. There is a fantastic view of bay from kitchen window. On the same level there is a separate WC.

On the first floor there are two double bedrooms, one with en suite, one twin bedroom and a large family bathroom. The master bedroom is light and airy with a Juliet balcony, king size bed, ceiling fan, large modern sliding door wardrobe, matching white drawers and bed side units. The en-suite has a bath with shower over, washbasin and toilet. The second bedroom has double bed and large wardrobe. The third bedroom has two single beds and large wardrobe. The large family bathroom also has bath with shower over, washbasin and toilet. All bedding and towels provided.

The private communal family and toddler pools are 100m walk from the front door and are set on a beautiful grassy terrace with amazing views of the bay and the mountains. There are sun loungers, parasols, two padel tennis courts, toilets and showers.

We currently live by the sea in the North East of England with Biff our Border Terrier. We enjoy spending time between our two homes and are looking forward to one day spending more of our time in Spain. In the meantime we are happy that our family, friends and guests get to enjoy our lovely home.

Large, well-kept house with beautiful views

The house is huge. Amazing views over the coast from the kitchen and the dining/ balcony area. Really well-kept - very clean - everything you need in the kitchen. Loads of games in the lounge, plus a big TV and lots of DVDs. And they gave us a welcome hamper which was a lovely touch.

The villa is managed by property agents who have an office in La Herradura. That meant that when we found the kettle didn't work, they drove up to the house to deliver a new one within a day.

I'd recommend that you ask the owners to provide fans for the two bedrooms (the master bedroom has its own in-built fan) because the rooms get really hot (we went in July).

The downside to the property is that it's a long walk to La Herradura - and a really steep walk back again. I'm not convinced it's 25 minutes, as suggested in the blurb. So you really have to drive - and then parking in La Herradura isn't easy in high season.

Also, the nearby shared pool is a great size and located in an absolutely beautiful setting (views of the mountains and coast), but we found it wasn't very clean. When we arrived there was food waste and wild animal droppings near the pool side. The pool got progressively more dirty as the week went by but it didn't get cleaned while we were staying there.

Absolutely lovely apartment and views

A lovely apartment, clean, and really beautiful views of the bay. A short drive down into the bay to enjoy the beach and shops. Easy to get to other resorts and to Granada. A wonderful pool again with stunning views. A friendly feel to the area and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away and relax.

What about that view!!

I am just back from a 2 week stay in Casa en la Colina and what can I say! The Apartment and the whole experience was fantastic! The apartment itself is homely, beautifully decorated and very clean. It has a terrace to die for, with stunning views across the horse shoe bay of la herradura. Long nights are easily spent sitting with a gin and tonic watching the stars shoot by. The facilities are great! A wonderful, secure communal pool area just minutes walk from the property makes sitting in the sun so easy. Excellent wifi and choice of dvd's too!! For something further afield, there was plenty of information and recommendations given by the home owners, which made it very convenient for our first few days. The welcome pack and hamper is a lovely touch and makes you feel right at home! To have essential food and drink in the house ready for you when you get in (especially as we arrived very late) was brilliant!

A truly spectacular holiday so much so we have booked again already for next summer and are counting down the days! Until we meet again Casa en la Colina, muchos gracias!

Beautiful location and views.

We loved our stay in La Herradura, I've never been to Spain but after this trip I can't wait to return!

The Townhouse is ideal for a relaxing break in the sun. Everything was there that we needed. Most days we cooked our meals and sat on the balcony over looking La Herradura bay. It felt like a home from home. theres also access to a great pool closeby (views from there are also good!)

A car is a must in this area as there is so much to explore, Granada, Nerja and Almunecar are all close by.

La Herradura is a relatively small local feeling town, about 20 minute walk down the hill. With plenty of shops and beachfront bars and restaurants, when we were there (June) it was quiet which we liked. There's plenty of surf or other water activities available.( If you walk down id advise a taxi back but that was less than £10. )

If you go up the hill (on a small track) you can watch the sunset which I highly advise. (Take a bottle of bubbly!!)There's a restaurant up there too but we didn't try it.

Hope you enjoy this place as much as we did.

Great stay in a lovely house with fantastic facilities

Lovely house with great facilities - perfect for kids, especially the pool.

We loved the terrace with amazing views and felt very much at home. The bedrooms are clean and spacious with plenty of storage. Kitchen well kitted out and opens out onto the terrace so ideal for al fresco meals. The view across the bay is stunning day and night: our kids loved seeing the lighthouse and the stars across the sea.

The pool and tennis courts were also great - everything in good condition and well maintained and the pool is the right size for proper swimming as well as space for kids to play.

It's easy to get to the town and there's plenty of places to shop and eat without breaking the bank. We also enjoyed exploring along the coast.

We had an incredibly relaxing holiday and would definitely return,

Exellentes vacances

La résidence de Colin est somptueuse, le premier étage avec les trois chambres spacieuses et bien aménagées, le second avec une cuisine fonctionnelle, un immense salon et une superbe terrasse donnant sur la baie de La Herradura ne peuvent que combler les résidents les plus pointilleux. La piscine collective aux résidents de Los Altos est pratiquement privée le matin et en soirée, elle est entretenue tous les jours.

Un seul petit regret concerne la literie avec des matelas trop mous. Accueil parfait de Rachel et de son mari. La propreté est ici une règle d'or. A consommer sans modération.

La Herradura

The stunning bay of La Herradura, together with its neighbouring town of Almuñecar, forms the tourist capital of Costa Tropical.

The area forms one of the most attractive bays along the southern coast of Spain, with its two large natural promontories, the Punta de la Mona and Cerro Gordo, which protect a two kilometre long sandy beach.

The village itself is located at the eastern point of the bay; it’s a typical Andalusian village of

whitewashed houses, sitting on a gentle slope leading down to the beach.

The town offers good amenities, with shops, bars and restaurants. Down towards the beach there is a wonderful promenade that stretches the whole length of the bay. Perfect for an early evening stroll before dinner, to watch the sun go down.

La Herradura has a fine sandy beach, which stretches for 2 kilometres, and aside from this beach, there is 19 kilometres of local coastline, with a variety of beaches, from long stretches

of sandy, small coves.

Water sports are very popular and there are numerous businesses offering different types of courses and equipment hire. Divers will find some of the best underwater scenery here, along the whole southern coast and the best scuba diving in Spain, La Herradura by Almunecar (where most of our diving takes place!) is a National Marine Reserve that plays host to an immense variety of marine life.

Natural surroundings

The dramatic results of nature are what give the Costa Tropical its special geography and climate, so unlike any other coastline in southern Spain.

Rugged hills soar up steeply from valley floors or plunge dramatically into the sea. Once-forested, now bare hillsides provide a marginal foothold for almond, olive and the hardy carob tree. And above everything towers the grand Sierra Nevada.


The mountain range, which boast the highest peak in mainland Spain, form a natural weather-break which protects the coastline from the worst influences of the European winters, while Africa, to the south, helps buffer the harsh effects of both the Mediterranean and Atlantic weather.

As a result, the area has an extraordinarily benign subtropical climate, which can be seen in the variety of exotic products to be found in the local markets, especially the different fruits.
