About the property

For more room options please also check our other listing

Nestled in the Normandy countryside, our 250 year old farmhouse offers two spacious artist themed guest rooms, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.

Our Claude Monet guest room is light and airy with a modern en-suite shower room, a large comfortable king size bed, luxurious bedding, big fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries.

With more than enough space to take an additional single bed, the room can accommodate a maximum of 3 people.

Outside, there is more than an acre of landscaped gardens, you will find plenty of shady spots where you can sit and relax or if feeling more energetic, play a game of badminton or boules on the lawn or take a leisurely dip in the swimming pool.

We serve continental breakfast in our handsome dining room which includes fresh baked croissants, baguettes, cereals, fruit, a selection of cheeses and Jenny P's delicious homemade jams all topped off with plenty of tea, coffee and juice. A gluten free breakfast option can be pre-ordered.

For those guests with an interest in history and the D-Day landings in Normandy and/or local antiques markets, we offer a variety of half and full day guided tours to the historic D-Day sites and trips to local Brocantes (antiques) and Vide-Greniers (bric-a-brac).

After a full day exploring Normandy, why not let us entertain you over a three course Table d'hôte meal at the farmhouse. Evening meals are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.

If you are looking for alternative or additional room options, then please check out our Vincent van Gogh guest room listing.

Why Chris and Jenny Payne chose Litteau

Inspired by its beauty, culture and history (especially the D-Day landings), Chris and I decided to move to Normandy and in 2012 started hunting for a suitable property that would fulfil our dream of running a bed and breakfast in France.

On a cold and snowy January morning, one of several trips we made to Normandy to view houses, we found and fell in love with the house that we now call home in Mis Harand.

Built more than 250 years ago, the house had been home to generations of Normandy farmers, but when discovered, had been empty and unloved for more than 4 years. Undeterred, we moved in and started our renovations.

While I concentrated on the gardens and Chris on building, plumbing, painting, etc, we have after more than a year of hard work, transformed the house and gardens into a lovely place to stay which we are sure all will enjoy visiting.

Lovely French country farmhouse experience from morning till night.

  • 5 of 5

This turned out to be a story book French farmhouse experience with all the modern day conveniences. It filled the void of a much needed relaxing time with beautiful gardens, towering trees, chirping birds and cows mooing in the distance. Combine that with the close proximity to all the beaches commemorating the WWII soldiers that gave their lives for our freedom. Chris has the knowledge to be a history professor. Jenny provided large, healthy breakfast's. We ate farmhouse dinners for 2 evenings and found these to be the most enjoyable and delicious meals we ate on our entire French holiday. We will return someday!

Perfect period property as discribed on web site. Great location in rural France.

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our 4 night stay with Chris and Jenny who made us very welcome in their beautiful home. Comfortable and spacious Claude Monet room was lovely, looking over the swimming pool within the rear gardens that were kept to a wonderfully high standard. The breakfast was excellent quality and quantity every morning , Thanks again Chris & Jenny we will defiantly be looking to stay with you again in the future with another trip to Normandy . Perfect Normandy Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed an idyllic stay in MIs Harand Normandy. Our hosts Jenny and Chris were the best. Jenny's breakfast spread was a great way to begin our day. Chris has amazing knowledge and passion for WWII events in Normandy and will give the best tips for visiting the DDay beaches. Our stay in the Monet room was delightful, and we really enjoyed the beautiful grounds and gardens. Thanks to both of you for our delightful stay!

The BEST!

  • 5 of 5

Wanted to visit the Normandy beaches. This was centrally located. The owners Chris & Jenny couldn't have been better hosts. We were greeted with a glass of wine upon our arrival. They met with us & discussed all of the sites in the area as they were familiar with all of the tourist venues. Jenny even makes her own jam, the pastries were fresh every morning and there was more than enough to eat to get your day started. Chris is quite the history buff and gave us suggestions on what we would see at all of the locations. Our Monet room was clean and tastefully decorated with lots of antiques. Chris even took us outside so we could view the space station going overhead in the late evening. The location was peaceful & serene, just what we were looking for. They have tended the gardens which adds to the serenity when you take a walk. Nothing but the chirping of the birds in the morning to wake you up. If you're looking for a great B &B experience you need to visit this 250 year old farmhouse.
