Recently refurbished ground floor apartment on clifftop with extensive views of sea and Perranporth beach (internationally renowned for its surfing), and within easy walking distance of village centre. The apartment is suitable for one family, of up to 8 people, with two double and two twin bedrooms, two modern shower rooms, large open-plan living/dining/kitchen area. Parking for 2 cars next to apartment (if you bring more than 2 cars please park the others off the property: there is a pay car park less than 200 metres from Droskyn Castle). Pet-friendly. No steps to, or within, the apartment, so suitable for people with moderately restricted mobility.

Droskyn Castle is situated on the north Cornwall coast path, in the heart of 'Poldark country'. The village provides all basic amenities - mini supermarket, bank, Post Office, gift shops, pubs, restaurants, petrol station. The cathedral city of Truro is 10 miles away, with its larger range of shops and amenities.

The 2 mile long sandy Perranporth beach is dog-friendly all year round. It has a full lifeguard service during the season, and facilities for surfing hire/tuition.

The apartment enjoys a home cinema facility, with projector, screen and headphones, for enjoying iPlayer, DVDs and Blu-Rays on the big screen. The flat also includes a Netflix subscription for the home cinema and Wi-Fi throughout the flat.

The Cinema screen with 8 wireless headphones was the icing on the cake!!!

Family Christmas 2017

Just returned from a fantastic stay at Droskyn castle where we found our apartment very warm , well equipped & very inviting. The apartment was large enough for our family of seven people plus the dog to have fun & relax during the festive period. Thank you Caroline for making our stay such a magical experience.. We would definitely like to return & experience the apartment at other times through out the year.

Absolutely stunning property ideal location the perfect family getaway

We booked a quick last minute getaway , we adore the apartment and the location it was spotless clean and very very comfortable it was so so peaceful and just wha we needed our 16yr old daughter loved the whole place also a telescope and Netflix for the evening after long beautiful beach walks , we also went to st agnes St Ives and landsend everything so so convenient I defnietely will be back and can’t recommend the apartment and location enough truly stunning

Very large flat with beautiful views of Perranporth Beach. Shops, cafes and beach within a few minutes walk. Flat is very well equipped and a lovely cream tea welcomed us.

Large, great location, perfect for a large young family

We stayed last week in Sept 2017. The apartment is at the top of a narrow, steep hill just above the town with lovely views of the beach below. It was myself, my wife, our 5 month old and my 72 year old mum, who isn't very mobile.

The house was cold and draughty, which I'm sure in the summer isn't an issue. The bathrooms were quite cramped but functional. There's no TV in the living room, although there is a projector and dvd you can use to watch movies and stream from services like Amazon and Netflix. If you're a "TV family" not having a telly in the main living space can remove that opportunity to hang out and watch your favourite British TV together.

The heaters in the bedrooms are old and didn't work, though those in the living area were newer and worked well. The hob was an induction style and not obvious to use at all. Likewise the microwave and oven ... all seemed much less user friendly than Im used to. After locating the instruction manuals (which took a while) and reading them, all worked fine; but it was a little frustrating when we arrived, tired and hungry to have to fuss around.

In the location at the top of the hill, walking in to town and back would easy if you're young and fit with no mobility issues or encumbrances. However, too much for my mum to make the trek back up the hill and I wouldn't recommend it with prams and such for infants. So the apartment itself is suitable for low mobility users but I would not say the location itself is.

Lots of games and beach "toys" (body boards, bucket and spade etc) provided, which was great.

If you're an overseas visitor, the drive up cliff road to the apartment might be daunting at first, as it is very narrow, single track, which I imagine in the summer is very busy (i.e. lots of traffic coming down the hill, requiring you to reverse down, perhaps; and it can be quite tight in a large SUV/4x4 squeezing passed the parked cars just in front of the driveway). But for locals it should be no problem and I'm sure most will adapt quickly after the first time or two.

Great apartment but very poorly cleaned!

Would recommend Perrenporth for a family holiday, it's beautiful and so much to do. However we are very disappointed in the cleanliness of the apartment!

The owner kindly let us store our bags before the 5.00pm arrival time (which is quite a late arrival time).

We were advised that the owners son and friend would be hanging out in the living area of the apartment until 5.00 p.m , which we were fine with as we were not meant to be there till 5.00 p.m, but once we returned the two boys came out of the bedroom in which we found sand in the double bed!

Sweet wrappers, cigarette filters were also found under the beds.

A contact lense was found on the floor, sand, dog hair and food was found between, and under the settee seats (to the point that I had to hoover as it was disgusting).

Windows inside were dirty.

I was also asked to wipe the windows down outside as the sea spray hit the windows if I had time as it only takes 15 minutes.

Two bedrooms had a damp problem (large patches on the walls where the damp was).

Also in the kitchen area a brown stain was noticed on the wall (possibly where the down pipe was boxed in).

It's a shame really as the apartment itself is beautiful but definately needs a professional clean when letting.

Owner's Response: I do sincerely apologise for the lack of cleanliness reported, and will indeed be getting the apartment professionally cleaned as soon as we have a gap in the lettings! The apartment is large, and the 5 pm entry time is so that I do not have to hassle visitors to leave early whilst giving myself time to do a full changeover and clean, and tackle any last-minute repairs or problems which may occur during a stay. By agreeing to our visitors' request to arrive three hours early, I may have rushed the cleaning rather - a mistake, I accept. I did clean all the windows outside before leaving, but told our guests where the equipment was so that if, during their stay, the sea spray 'misted' the windows over, they could go over them again, since this makes such a difference to the marvellous sea and beach views. I think my suggestion, which was intended to be helpful, was perhaps misunderstood. There is little I can do about the damp in the walls - this is an old, solid-walled building on the north Cornish coast, and it inevitably gets damp. Repainting only flakes off, but I agree that it doesn't look very smart. I am very sorry indeed that my son's guests went into the bedroom - there is no excuse for this and it will not happen again.

A few of the most popular are: the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Charlestown historic harbour and Mevagissey (all near St. Austell); Pendennis Castle, the National Maritime Museum, Trebah and Glendurgan Sub-tropical gardens (all in or near Falmouth); a zoo, aquarium, Fistral beach and Trerice Manor house (in or near Newquay); beaches, art galleries and Tate Modern in St. Ives; Bodmin Jail, antique shops and Lanhydrock House in the Lostwithiel area; and St. Michael's Mount and ferries to the Scillies in Penzance. For children, there are nearby attractions at Dairyworld, Crealy Adventure Park and the Lappa Valley Steam Railway.

Droskyn Castle sits on the cliff top above Perranporth beach, midway along the north Cornwall section of the south west coastal footpath. It is therefore eminently suitable for those who enjoy walking, surfing and beach holidays. It is also conveniently situated for reaching other Cornish attractions such as the cathedral city of Truro, the Eden Project, and coastal towns and villages such as Padstow, Port Isaac, St Ives and Falmouth. The property is available for a family of up to 8 people. Visitors are welcome to bring up to 3 well-behaved dogs (please bring your own pets' equipment, and do not allow pets into the bedrooms). Perranporth village centre is a short walk from the apartment, providing shops, a bank, a petrol station, mini supermarket (Co-op), a post office and numerous restaurants and cafes. Please note that parking is limited. If you bring more than two vehicles these should be parked off-site (there is a public car park approx. 200 metres from Droskyn Castle).
