Sands Studio is the latest project by Angela & Olivier Noverraz, owners of the award winning guest house Trevose Harbour House. This apartment is a stylish seaside retreat that is ideal for couples looking for a relaxing getaway. Recently awarded a 5* star rating and Gold award by Visit Britain.

Sands Studio takes inspiration from Cornwall’s breathtakingly beautiful sandy beaches whilst also capturing the area’s artistic and creative heritage. Located in Downalong, a stones throw away from the charming Porthgwidden beach, Sands Studio’s enviable position places its future residents at the heart of picturesque St Ives with its choice of magnificent golden beaches and a vibrant restaurant and art gallery scene.

With sweeping views over St Ives Bay, the look and feel at Sands Studio is far from nautical. Much like Trevose Harbour House, guests will feel the privacy of their own home but all the decor of a five star hotel. Echoing the warmth of the area’s sandy beaches in the choice of furnishings and materials alongside the couples' love of retro and mid-century design, the apartment will offer - local artwork, well-chosen books for bedtime, a bespoke designed kitchen, an elegant en-suite shower room and proper blankets. This stylish coastal retreat is the ideal place from which to relax, unwind and explore all that Cornwall has to offer.

About Angela & Olivier Noverraz

Angela was born in a family of hoteliers, living and working in and around hotels all her life. Olivier found his vocation for the hospitality sector by working in restaurants and bars after college. Having decided to pursue a career within the industry, Olivier chose to study hotel management. This is where we met, 13 ago, at the world renowned Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.

Following our studies, we pursued our respective professional careers within the sector by working in some of Europe’s leading hotels. However, we had always harboured the dream of one day owning our own small boutique guest house. So, in 2012 we decided to put our combined knowledge and skills to the benefit of a personal project. Trevose Harbour House was our first project and is the fruit of our passion and a reflection of the kind of place we would like to stay in. A living place which is understated yet uniquely stylish and which offers high standards of service in a relaxed and comfortable way.

We then decided to open a holiday apartment and like Trevose Harbour House, we wished to make it special and very different to anything else in the area.

Great flat with lovely views. Well equipped and comfortable. Felt v upmarket!

Overall really good. If I have any reservations they were about getting there and parking. Narrow roads and v small awkward parking places are part of the charm of st Ives so bring a small car if you can!

A very special place to stay

St Ives offers many places to stay, but it's hard to find somewhere with such individual style and taste coupled with such stunning sea views. The welcome hamper was a great way to start the trip. Breakfast can be taken inside or outside on the balcony, depending on the weather. A very special breakfast is also offered at Trevose Harbour House (sister property) for one morning during our stay. Delicious! The hosts, Angela and Olivier are welcoming and can offer tips on where to go and where to eat.

The bedroom is super comfortable, with ample space to hang clothes and cosy dressing gowns ready and waiting. The bathroom has a stylish, roomy shower and all you will need for a getaway.

Sands Studio has been designed with care and great attention to detail. The location of the property is ideal for beach, restaurants and shopping.

Gorgeous mid century apartment with stunning views

St Ives is a town that I know and love and it was such a delight to stay in this stunning mid century apartment. The apartment is newly refurnished with exquisite attention to detail, including lovingly re upolstered mid century furniture and high end fixtures and fittings. The lovely, attentive owners provide a wonderful conciege service, recommending restaurants and walks and even providing a delicious breakfast in their hotel in town. The fact the apartment is owned by hoteliers is apparent in the spotless appearence, high quality sheets and towels and the lovely little extra touches such as throws to use on while sitting on the balcony and the offer of additional services such as picnic hampers. The apartment is in the heart of St Ives and the views of the sea are uninterupted. I will absolutely be returning to Sands on my next trip to St Ives.

St Ives September festival

Each year, the St Ives September Festival celebrates the town’s artistic heritage with a festival of Music and the Arts. The festival always runs through the middle two weeks of September with a huge variety of musical performances: “jazz, blues, folk sessions, classical concerts and arts events: gallery exhibitions ‘open days’ when local artists open their studios to the public, talks, lectures, poetry readings and workshops.” – source St Ives official tourism site.

Cancellation Policy
If you cancel the accepted/confirmed booking for any reason, you must notify us in writing at the address stated. You remain liable for the full amount of the holiday rental, including the balance payment when due, if this has not already been paid.

We will as a matter of urgency try to re-let the holiday period or part thereof and if successful, upon receipt of monies for the new booking, will return the rental paid less an administration fee of £10. If a reduction in rental has to be made to secure a new booking, you will receive the discounted rental fee less the administration fees. If it is not possible to re-let the property, no monies will be returned.
We strongly recommend that you take out cancellation insurance.

Should you require a mid-week clean this is charged at £30 per clean.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 14 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
