About the property

Open plan living. Great for families, reunions, etc. *Special December Deals*

The Farmhouse provides accommodation for up to 12 guests. We have just re-arranged our bedroom accommodation to provide greater flexibility. We can now offer a huge Superking master suite with large walk-in ensuite shower room which doubles as a family room capable of sleeping a family of 4 comfortably. In addition we have a further Superking bedroom which can be split to provide twin beds and accommodate a put-u-up bed. Our third bedroom is a kingsize bed which can be split to provide twin beds. Our fourth room is normally configured with twin beds but can be arranged to provide a further Superking bed. Our cosy snug has a full sized sofa bed providing accommodation for 2 further guests.

The living accommodation is arranged in an open-plan manner - providing a perfect large sociable space for family gatherings or group reunions. With 3 aspects you get a fantastic panoramic view of the stunning scenery and wildlife. The space is also great for business use - projects, meetings, etc

The kitchen is well fitted out with ample cupboards and a huge central peninsular unit - always a popular place for a natter!. There is a large range cooker, dishwasher, microwave and American style fridge freezer. There is plenty of cutlery, crockery, pots & pans for your stay.

The dining area has a large farmhouse table with seating 10+. We can provide a highchair if necessary.

The comfortable lounge area with log burner & huge sofas provides space to relax after a busy day exploring the wonderful surroundings - near and far

In addition there is a separate cosy snug with TV, DVD & X-box for those who want some space of their own or somewhere for the kids (of all ages) to hang out. This room can double as a ground floor bedroom as the sofa converts to a full-size double bed. We provide a large variety of board games and DVDs for you to enjoy.

There is a spacious ground floor cloakroom and separate boot room with washing machine and plenty of space for outdoor clothes and to store bicycles, etc.

Upstairs there are 4 good sized bedrooms with high quality cotton bed linen and luxurious towels.

The Master suite is a huge room that can be used as the principle bedroom suite for a couple or as a great family bedroom - sleeping a family of 4 comfortably with a Super-kingsize bed and 2 x guest-beds. There is a large ensuite with walk-in shower. The room offers stunning views across the valley towards Cheltenham and a great view of the local Steam Train.

Bedroom 2

This room has a super-kingsize bed that can be split to provide twin beds. There is ample room for a cot or put-u-up. There are lovely views across the valley towards Cheltenham Racecourse. You can see the Steam Train from this room.

Bedroom 3

This room affords views over the farm towards the top of Crane Hill. A great place to see the farm animals. There is a Kingsize bed which can be split to provide twin beds.

Bedrooms 4

This room is normally configured with twin beds but they can be joined to provide a Superkingsize bed. There are views over the farm from this bedroom.

On the first floor there is a newly fitted family bathroom with high quality wc, basin, bath with shower over.

Outside there is a large private garden with designated parking spaces for up to 4 cars. To the front the patio offers to opportunity for a BBQ whilst watching the steam trains across the valley.

We have tried to stock the kitchen with those items that you would normally find at home but don't necessarily bring with you on holiday. There are the basic items (tea & coffee, sugar, milk, salt, pepper, etc) and in addition we have a range of herbs & spices, ketchup, brown sauce & mayonnaise. Outside the back door is a small herb garden that you are welcome to help yourselves to.

We are dog friendly and welcome your 4-legged family member but please keep them on a lead when on the farmland.

Guests at Cranehill Farmhouse have exclusive access to the top of Crane Hill. This is private land not accessible to the general public. This affords magnificent 360 degree views towards the Cotswolds, Malvern Hills, Black Mountains and beyond.

Whilst on the hill you are likely to meet some of our Easycare Sheep and if you walk a little further the Dexter cattle. Don't forget to take a carrot or apple for 'Sid' & 'Joe' our friendly horses and 'Pluto' & Blossom with her baby Summer - the donkeys.

In spring we have lambs - Rachel will often invite guests to help to feed the orphans - always popular with children (and adults).

A Baby Pack comprising Cot, highchair and safety gate is available on request for a small additional cost.

About Rachel Slater

Keith, a Company Director and Rachel, a former Deputy Chief Executive/Director of Nursing in an acute hospital. We have 4 grown-up children and a new grandchild and another on the way. Rachel loves all animals, especially dogs, horses and elephants! Crane Hill Farmhouse is situated on a small farm with 100 sheep, 16 Dexter cows (including 6 calves) 2 horses, 3 donkeys (including our baby donkey this year - Summer) and 3 dogs. We run the Farmhouse as a family business, involving family members in the housekeeping, maintenance and overall running of the property.

We purchased Crane Hill Farmhouse and spent 6 months renovating and refurbishing to a very high standard to provide accommodation we would like visitors to enjoy and return to year after year. We are continually updating and upgrading the accommodation to maintain our very high standard.

Rachel manages the Farmhouse with the assistance of Tom, our youngest son who is skilled in lots of areas to keep the Farmhouse in great shape.

We moved to the Cotswold area approximately 15 years after many years moving around (Keith was in the Royal Navy for 9 years) as it was convenient for jobs, etc but definitely put our roots down here and will not be moving away again.

Rugby fans, we support our local team, Cheltenham Tigers, who Tom plays for, as well as visits to Kingsholm to watch Gloucester Play.

Last year we began proud grandparents to Isaac and look forward to him growing around the farm with space, animals and fresh air

Crane Hill Farmhouse is situated in a fantastic rural location giving access not only to the Cotswolds and all the attractions but further afield to towns and cities - Oxford, Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham all within 1 hour drive. However we are only 10 minutes from central Cheltenham and the M5!

The open plan living accommodation is perfectly suited to large family holidays or groups of friends. All the bedrooms are light, spacious and offer fantastic views.

There is generous private outdoor space for children to play and parking for 4 cars - additional cars may be accommodated by negotiation.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Guests have unique access to the top of Crane Hill - only afforded to guests of the Farmhouse and residents of the Barn.

The views across the valley are breathtaking and constantly changing with the weather and seasons. We never get bored of the views.

There is an abundance of local wildlife including foxes, rabbits, brown hares, a local 'confusion' of guinea fowl, badgers and the occasional deer.

Look up and you will discover a wide range and variety of birds - the buzzards, with their vibrant under-wing markings which appear as two large eyes, nest in the trees up the hill, a family of 'little owl' reside in trees near to the Farmhouse and can be heard most nights as they hunt for food. There are also some local Barn Owls who can be heard ‘twit-to-wooing’ in the evening

We have frequent visitors of other birds of prey including sparrow hawk. It is not unusual to see a Red Kite, distinguished by its deeply forked tail.

We are fortunate to see Spotted Woodpecker and Green Woodpecker. These colourful birds can often be seen on the fence posts ‘knocking’ for beetles.

Immaculately decorated, wonderful space for big groups.

I cannot recommend Crane Hill Farm enough. Immaculately presented, fantastic quality fixtures and fittings, comfiest beds ever, very well stocked kitchen. The position is dreamy and the addition of the farm animals made our stay the perfect place for our youngest holiday companions.

Beautiful location

Beautiful farmhouse in a beautiful location. Rachel the owner left lots of goodies for us on arrival. The beds were very comfortable and there were loads of toiletries provided. It is a safe environment for children and ours loved seeing the animals up close. Highly recommended

Lovely house in a peaceful setting. We all really enjoyed our stay!

Fabulous long weekend at Crane Hill Farm

My daughter got married close to the farmhouse so we used it as our base. It was perfect - furnished to a very high standard, extremely keen & with lots of added touches such as the cake & the plentiful supply of toiletries. After the wedding we were able to relax & sat outside admiring the view. We managed to climb to the top of the hill which is well worth the effort.

I would highly recommend Crane Hill Farm & many thanks to Rachel for making our stay such a happy occasion

The property was nice and suited our groups requirements

A really nice weekend with friends, the house and location gave us plenty to do both on site and in the locality. All the families have young children and it was a superb and safe environment for them to play and explore the outdoors. Would definitely recommend.
