Tivauche is a beautifully restored farmhouse which sits on the edge of a sleepy hamlet with fine views over the Auxois countryside. Vast open-plan living area with comfortable armchairs around old stone fireplace, dining area, well equipped kitchen & french doors leading onto the patio & garden. Spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. All linen and towels provided with beds made up. Nearby towns of Epoisses & Semur-en-Auxois provide plenty of choice for bars, restaurants & shops. Superb walking & biking; visits to historical sites (Cistercian Fontenay abbey, Vézelay basilica); Chateaux (Epoisses, Bussy Rabutin, Ancy le Franc); Medieval towns (Flavigny sur Ozerain, Noyers sur Serein) ; Markets (Dijon, Chablis, Avallon, Montbard); Lac du Pont (ideal for watersports); Morvan National Park , Golf & Tennis nearby.

5 hour drive from Calais or Zeebrugge. 1 hour TGV train to Paris or Euro Disney direct.

About Bill & Jenny

Bill was born in Bath and having completed university in Wales, avoided working in an office by running away to operate hotel barges on the canals and rivers of France. Jenny, a Prue Leith trained chef, left London for two weeks to cover for a friend who needed a break from cooking.

Both Bill and Jenny intended to move on from Burgundy, but with the addition of dogs and children and the realisation that they already lived in one of the most beautiful parts of Europe, why change a thing?

Why Bill & Jenny chose Corsaint

For seven years we lived a 10 minute walk away from this property. The last two of these years were spent scouring the region looking for an interesting place to buy and renovate - it was a satisfying discovery when this search finally brought us to the perfect farmhouse on our doorstep!

What makes this farmhouse unique

We often say, 'there's magic in the air in Tivauche'!

The locals love it here and visitors keep coming back time after time - naturally we do everything we can to make your stay comfortable, but we cannot take all of the credit for people's attachment to Tivauche-le-Haut.

The view from the terrace looking towards the Morvan park is wonderful. At night the same terrace makes a perfect star gazing platform as there's no light pollution.

With our rural location, we sometimes feel wonderfully 'lost in France', and yet day trips to Paris are possible as it's only one hour by TGV train + 15 minutes to Montbard station.

Tours can be arranged for winetasting, biking, walking, bird watching, ballooning and world war two resistance sites

Massage, yoga and pilates can also be arranged.

We can provide a taxi service with our comfortable air conditioned VW minibus if you want a break from driving at any time during your stay (Bill is a qualified coach and truck driver).

And of course evening meals are available upon request from Jenny - just tell us what you like to eat!

Fabulous

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautifully restored property. The surrounding countryside was very peaceful and it was a great location for exploring some of the wonderful wine regions of Beaune, Chablis and Nuit St George. The hosts were very welcoming and knowledgeable about places to visit. The property is beautifully furnished, well equipped and our 2 dogs were made to feel very welcome.

Tivauche le haut, a blessed Hamlet.

The landscape of the Cote d’Or is breathtaking in its beauty. We had a wonderfull trip to Tivauche . Endless fields of rapeseed , countless lilacs , wherever we went, we were welcombed by Spring.

The hause surpassed all our expectations. Spacious for the four of us, cosy, very clean and well equipped.

Jenny and Bill were very helpfull and hospitable. Jenny surprised us nearly every day with freshly laid eggs. Please note for free.

We will recommand the cottage to all our friends and we will certainly visite this hidden pearl in the future again.

An absolute delight in Burgundy!

We visited in early October as a party of 4 with our 4 dogs which were very kindly accommodated! The weather was perfect, the food was fantastic and the wine was even better.

The house is absolutely lovely! As a family we have rented a number of properties across France over the years and we were all in agreement that Tivauche is one of our favourites.

The property is spacious yet cosy, equipped with everything you could possibly need, and is incredibly peaceful.

The location is brilliant for visiting vineyards, markets, beautiful little villages and going walking in the Morvan. We simply cannot fault this place, we loved it!

Bill and Jenny are also fantastic at what they do. Despite being just next door they are so incredibly discreet, we barely knew they were there yet when we had a problem with the washing machine Bill was through straight away to fix it.

Thank you so much for a brilliant holiday, we all had a lovely time staying in Tivauche!

Care, courtesy communication and character

This is a superb property; it retains a truly French feel with the highest standard of cleanliness and equipment. Everything we needed was there, it all worked perfectly and there was comfortable seating in abundance. Having French and UK channels on the TV is handy as is the ample parking.

Access to our various destinations was easy and almost all by beautiful and relatively quiet roads. Finding the property was very easy and the greeting we received was excellent.

Bill and Jenny were most helpful with pre-trip communication, directions, introduction to the property and gentle advice and information regarding the area.

Walks along the lane which leads out of the village provided magnificent views and a gentle and relaxing start and end to each day. Good shopping and major supermarkets are all available within 10 miles and a small supermarket (now an offshoot of Auchan) is a few miles away.

Semur, Flavigny, Alesia, Ancy-Le-Franc, Noyers, Montréal, Chateauneuf-en-Auxios, Bussy-Rabutin and Avallon were favourite visits (there were other villages, towns and chateaux); but the countryside is perhaps the greatest star. A trip to the Morvan is always worth it as is a gentle drive with wanders through the local villages such as Genay, Époisses and Moutiers-St Jean. A fascinating trip is to the Vix Museum in Châtallon-sur-Seine and audio-guide a must. Above them all are Fontenay and Vézelay.

We had good weather overall and while this helps any trip, having visited many of the above places before in dull and wet conditions, we can say that they look good then as well!

This holiday was as good as it gets and with over 40 such stays in France we are happy to declare the gîte of the very best we have stayed in.

There are about 20 houses in the hamlet of Tivauche-le-Haut. It is a quiet place with no working farms. Relatively high with great views stretching into the Morvan national park. The nearby (15 min) medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois is an undiscovered gem. Driving times to major towns are as follows; Dijon 1 hr, Beaune 1 hr, Auxerre 50 min, Chablis 45 min, Avallon 25 min, Montbard 20 min. From Montbard the TGV train to Paris takes just one hour.
