"Every year I take my mum on one or two trips away and this time I chose Florence. I found this apartment on Homelidays and booked for a week. The deposit was paid using Paypal which was quick and easy, and the balance on arrival. The apartment is carved out of the mezzanine level of a 500 year old tower and is perfect for a vacation home. You enter the main door of the building, through a second door then up a small spiral staircase as seen in one of the photos. The Apartment itself is very clean and tidy with a small kitchen leading to a very nice bathroom with big shower.
The best thing about this place is the location, there is an excellent museum opposite, and it is 500 metres to the Ponte Vecchio, 550 metres to the Uffizi Galleries and the Santa Croce. All these distances were checked with Google Maps. It takes 30 seconds to reach the river and four minutes to the Ponte Vecchio or Uffizi Galleries. The other very good thing about this apartment is the closeness of shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a small supermarket 3 mins away in Via del Renai which is open from 9am to 10pm and stocks all the basics. If you cross the Ponte Vecchio coming home you will walk past the Conad Supermarket which sells everything you could possibly want. There is also a good range of restaurants on this side of the river. We went to Gusta Pizza twice and Osteria Antica Mescita San Niccolò three times. The Osteria San Niccolo was a three minute walk away and served beautiful and reasonably priced food, also Zeb Gastronamia was opposite the Osteria SN.
Mother and I had an excellent holiday and I would recommend this apartment to small groups and anyone else who wants to be close to the galleries without spending a fortune. Barbara is an excellent host who met us on our arrival."
