Wonderful light and airy 2 bedroom apartment in the Old Town (Vieux Nice).

Our apartment is on the 2nd floor of a typical Nicois building in Rue Francois Zanin, a quiet but wide pedestrian street just round the corner (literally!) from the Old Town’s fabulous markets, shops, bars and restaurants and less than 10 minutes walk from both the beach and the port. It is also only a couple of minutes walk from bus and tram stops on Nice’s excellent public transport system which provides excellent services to the airport (20 minutes) and the many attractions in Nice and the wider area.

The apartment comprises a large (5m x 4m) double-window sitting room with dining area, a modern American-style kitchen, 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed and a walk-in wardrobe, the other with two single beds) and a modern WC/shower room.

The Old Town of Nice is one of Euope's 'jewels' - the historic buildings and pedestrianised streets are filled with the atmosphere of the local markets, restaurants and street cafes which you can enjoy or wander through, by day or night, relaxed and secure. Don't get put off by the city's reputation as a playground for the rich - the close proximity of the beach and the bus and trams stops (providing services not just to local attractions but also to Monaco, Cannes, etc) and the myriad of very reasonably priced restaurants and cafes means that you can have just as much fun on a tight budget!

Great apartment in a perfect location.

We loved staying in Iain's apartment. We were exactly where we wanted to be in Nice - the heart of the Old Town but in a little back street so noise was never an issue. We were in walking distance of everything we needed on a day to day basis (the sea, shops, bars, restaurants) and a short tram ride away from the train station when we wanted to go further afield (Antibes, Cannes etc). The apartment was clean and exactly as described - we had everything we needed for a family of four. Iain was exceedingly good to communicate with and the lady who met us, Samira, was lovely and very helpful. We would highly recommend. Thank you for a great holiday!

Excellent location

We spent one week in the beautiful old town of Nice. The apartment is in a superb location for exploring all of Nice and is equipped with everything one would need. The owner Iain is extremely helpful and makes the entire process of booking etc completely stress free . We hope to return.

We loved this property, what a fantasic stay!

This propety is very comfortable and worked very well for the four adults in our party. It is well maintained and very functional. The atomsphere is perfect for a stay in Old Nice. The location could not be better. If you like to cook, the ingrdients for anything you could think to make are just steps away. There are three butcher shops; several cheese and sausage shops; two spice shops and a daily fresh fish market in the plaza about a block away. For produce go to the daily market, a 10 to 15 minute walk. You will be amazed! As for restaurants. Probably the best restaurant in Old Nice is on the first floor of the building. It is owned by the Alziari family who are very gracious and we ate there at least five times. The two other resaurants that can be seen from the apartment windows, are also excellent. There are many restaurants in Old Nice and we never had a bad meal. The only issue we had with the area is being awakened by the wonderful smell of the restaurants preparing their stocks and other prep cooking for the day's offerings. It is amazing. The beach is only a 15 minute walk away as well. Iain, the property owner, is extremey easy to work with and was very helpful to us in answering any questions we had. Another perk to this apartment is having a dish washer and clothes washer. There is a dryer, as well, but we opted for hanging our clothes out to dry on the lines prodived out the windows, just like the locals. I highly recommend this property and would certainly rent it again should I return to Nice in the future.

The great thing about the Old Town is that one can enjoy it on so many different levels and it is lovely to hear how you seem to have become locals during your 3 weeks - from getting to know the wonderful Alziari family, to buying the delicious produce from the small local shops and even hanging your washing out! Everyone was obviously devastated by what happened in Nice at the end of your stay (something that sadly could probably happened in any city in France, if not any city in Europe, these days) but I am sure that the friendliness and many attractions of this wonderful city will enable it to bounce back quickly. Best wishes. Iain PS I should just clarify that when you say first floor you are speaking as an American - this side of the pond we call that the ground floor!

Perfect location in nice

I stayed in this apartment with my family (2 children) for 5 days at the beginning of January and I would highly recommend this accommodation. The location is strategic - right in the middle of old nice - and you can forget about using a car. You can easily get to the beach and to the shops walking. The apartment is spacious, very well equipped and perfect for 4 people. The owner is very kind and provided us with all information we needed. We even found parking space nearby, which was quite lucky! There are plenty of garages nearby, anyway.The lady who is in charge of giving the key is extremely kind and friendly. This is certainly an apartment we would use again!

Superb on all counts.

Immaculately clean and immensely comfortable in the perfect location. What more could one ask for? Wonderful food is steps away and all museums and sites are within a 30 minute walk. Buses for daytrip destinations are nearby and cost 1.5 euros. January/February is a great time to visit. Few tourists and the weather is dry and sunny - sweaters or light jackets on the cooler days. In short, we spent a great month in the perfect space in a wonderful place.

We bought this apartment because of its wonderful location at the top of the Old Town - less than 10 minutes stroll through the pedestrianised streets to the front, only a couple of minutes from stops on Nice's excellent tram and bus network and just round the corner from Place Garibaldi with its restaurants, bars and supermarket - yet quiet (important to me as I am a light sleeper!)
