Gaelle accommodated our changed arrival time, booked a lovely place for us to eat after arriving and we settled very quickly into the spacious barn style extended cottage. The house and rooms were perfect for us with family members coming and going through a fortnight stay. 7 adults at one point, there was plenty of space and the one WC and two separate bathrooms with showers met our needs.
The grounds and garden are beautiful with a choice of seating and dining areas which let us find shade when needed or evening sun if that was what we preferred. The pool is a good size and depth for swimming, games or just cooling off! The thoughtful provision of a second, large, fridge and freezer was excellent and really came into play when the house was full.
We spoke with Gaelle and Paul a couple of times through the week and really appreciated them being nearby but absolutely leaving us to our privacy.
Gourdon is the main town nearby with excellent boulangerie and patisserie as well the big chain supermarkets - so no shortage of food and drink options with several good bistro restaurants in town too. The Tourist Information in Gourdon had plenty of guidance and the staff were very helpful there too. It paid to try out our French and were rewarded with careful explanations of where and what there is to do. Apart from the food and wine, we sorted out canoes, sussed out Rocamadour and booked online for Padirac and Pech Merle caves as well as just turning up at Cougnac nearby. The first, a magnificent limestone cavern system and underground river, the rest featuring limestone formations and very, very special prehistoric cave art. Original and in front of your own eyes, 30,000yr old cave art. WOW.
The combination of days out, returning home to the lovely Gite Trapani and pool or just chilling (albeit 37deg) on alternate days was truly restful and reinvigorating in a glorious setting. This was 2018 super hot summer and when it was too much, the house and pool and the shade of the trees were just right. A really great place, a wonderful location in the Lot and near enough Dordogne and Cahors for plenty of activity. The whole family loved it.
