Beautifully renovated Townhouse upgraded to a very high standard and furnished accordingly. Registered with the Junta de Andalucia as a Casa Rural reference CR/MA/00799. Two double bedrooms on ground level with large bathroom. Large open plan living, dining and kitchen area on first floor with two traditional balconies together with large shower room. Spacious terrace room and large terrace on second floor with magnificent uninterrupted views south to the coast and Africa beyond. The terrace room has a comfortable sofa bed if required. There is a lovely wood-burning stove in the living area and heaters in each room making the house ideal all year round. The house is always immaculate being looked after by our neighbours in the village who are on hand if needed during your stay.

The house is maintained and furnished to a high standard and is a home away from home. Spanish television and a slection of free UK channels (including SKY News) are available as is wi-fi internet access throughout the house and terrace.

Local Activities: Gaucin is a wonderful location for bird watching being on the migratory route from Africa to Europe. There are two horse riding centres close by and organised walks take place regularly leaving from the village.

The river running through the valley is ideal for swimming, fishing, diving and generally exploring.

Festivals and Fiestas: A number of festivals take place during the year including the Semana Santa (holy week) processions. The running of the bull on Easter Sunday (a big highlight attracting large crowds).

The feria in August has a fairground, music and dancing.

Getting Around: Whilst car hire is recommended for exploring the locality it is not essential as we can organise taxi collection from the airports and local transport for day-trips etc. Once in the village all amenities are within walking distance.

I was born in Fife, Scotland. I am a chartered accountant and work as a company accountant in Dundee. I am in the fortunate position of being able to work remotely some of the time and able to spend this time in the wonderful village of Gaucin.

Why Graham Wood chose Ronda area

Having holidayed with family in the summer of 2004 we returned in the autumn to look for a possible holiday home. We chose this property because of its location high up in the village with the full Gaucin view. The house was in need of complete rebuild and finally ready in the spring of 2006. We have made the most of the property over the years with family and friends and it has been a home from home.

The views from the terrace are incredible and take the breath away everytime.

The staircases are open in the traditional style. There is a large wood burning stove in the living area which is ideal for warming up the cooler winter evenings. A basket of logs is included in the rental during winter months. Each room has wall mounted radiators which again make the house ideal for the winter months. The large outdoor village pool is 5 minutes walk away and is open in the summer months. The village tennis court is open all year round. Wi-fi internet access is available. An ipod dock is available.

Excellent - well appointed - well stocked

We stayed here the week before Christmas and had a fantastic time. We love top walk and climb and found Gaucin to be really well situated for these activities. Also visited Gibraltar and Ronda - both being really easy to get to from the village. The village, even in December, has everything you need (chemist, supermarket, butchers (a fab one!), eating places) and was full of character and lovely people.

The house is roomy and really well stocked. We had everything we needed. When we arrived all was clean and ready. We have a child and the fact that the two double rooms are next to each other really helped him feel close at night. The terrace was a lovely aspect (south facing with fabulous views). The owner was really helpful and we would recommend to anyone.

A wonderful spacious home, beautifully situated in the town, with stunning views to Gibraltar and Morroco from the fabulous rooftop terrace. No hesitation at all in recommending this property to anyone wanting a comfortable and elegant base to enjoy and explore the area. Everything as advertised and expectations exceeded. Couldn't ask for more.

Wonderful,beautiful house in a fantastic location in picture postcard village- stay here if you can!

Just spent 3 nights in Los Pisos at the end of a fantastic fortnight travelling around Andalucia and couldn't fault it in any way- everything about the house is fabulous. The arrangements to access the house and the directions were perfect and meant for an easy and hassle-free arrival. We have stayed in several traditional Andalucian houses around various towns and villages over the years and this is by far the best. The house retains a lot of the original character but has clearly been renovated sympathetically and to a really high standard by someone with a very good eye for taste and style- all very understated but beautifully done. Also,the stairs up through the house and up to the roof terrace were broad (and safe!), unlike some other houses we've stayed in. The 2 bedrooms are on the ground floor,together with the first bathroom,meaning they stay nice and cool for sleeping at night. Very comfortable bed, quality bed linen and plenty of storage space.

The combined living room/dining area/ kitchen are on the 1st floor and this is a very lovely and roomy space with well defined areas including an excellent kitchen with everything you might need (incl dishwasher).The 2nd bathroom (with toilet and shower) is also on this level. Plenty of towels are provided. We were actually sorry in a way that we didn't get a chance to snuggle into the sofas in front of the woodburner one evening,just to enjoy that lovely space,but the weather was too good and we couldn't tear ourselves away from the fabulous roof terrace and those wonderful views either over the village, up towards the castle or down over the valley towards the coast and distant Gibraltar- stunning. There is a BBQ, plenty of comfortable furniture including 2 x loungers and a large table with 4 chairs for dining on the terrace. Plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the blissful views.

So, in summary- a wonderful, spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and furnished house which I couldn't recommend highly enough. The photos online look good but they actually don't do it justice enough. The friendly Spanish couple who manage the property live literally across the street,so are very handy if any assistance is required. Gaucin is a stunning and friendly village with several good places to eat,drink and just observe life going on by. I find myself rather envious of Graham owning such a beautiful house in this wonderful village.. In fact my only regret is that we didn't stay longer.

Les + : Grande terrasse avec superbe vue panoramique. Grande salle commune bien éclairée et ventilée avec cuisine bien équipée. Lits confortables. Maison dans un endroit calme et bien situé vs le village, on peut tout faire à pied. Très propre et meubles de qualité.

Les - : Pas de moustiquaire aux grandes fenêtres. Système d'eau chaude peu fonctionnel surtout pour les douches. Dix km de route en lacets avant d'arriver (mais on a la vue grandiose !)

Wonderful Holiday House

The house was as advertised. It was clean and had everything we needed for our two week stay. The layout is unusual compared to what is normal in the UK. The ground floor has two large bedrooms and a bathroom. The first floor is open plan with sitting, dining, kitchen and a shower room. The top floor has a smaller room that can be used as a bedroom and a very large roof terrace with a shaded area, sunbathing area, tables, chairs and a BBQ. The ground floor bedrooms worked well for us, being much cooler and dark even in the very bright sunlight due to wooden shutters. We did not have any noise problems. The streets of Gaucin are very narrow, we did not drive to the house, but parked in a larger road some 100 yards away, this was not an inconvenience. The roads are steep in places, I have seen some people complain, the clue is in the name - its a white hill village. The local bars and restaurants were good, ranging from simple to sophisticated. Travelling to places like Seville, Jerez, Cadiz is easy, but takes quite a long time. We went to Gibralter, about 90 mins, it can be seen from the terrace. I would return if the opportunity arose.

Beautiful Village House in Beautiful Village

Three of us had the most wonderful week in this very comfortable & pretty house in a glorious setting. It proved to be beyond our expectations & had so many facilities that it was like being at home. In spite of 30 degrees of heat the house remained cool & with the shade over part of the roof terrace it was never too hot to sit up there. That was our favourite place with incredible views & watching the eagles flying overhead & putting on a display for us every day. The centre of the village was only a five minute stroll away & all Graham's recommendations for places to eat & drink were good. Sitting under an umbrella enjoying delicious tapas & sipping vino blanco in a square filled with flowers & life couldn't have been any better ! We would definitely recommend this house & village & hope to go back again soon. Very many thanks.
