amenities. The floor-thru was originally designed as the elegantly appointed corporate pied a terre for a family member and is available as per the following calendar. Please note that all rental prices are based on an occupancy of up to 6 people. An additional $10 per person per night is charged for more than 6. The huge, open plan 1400 sf apartment features a 16 X28 living/dining room that flows into the open ss galley kitchen with soapstone sink, dw, mosaic floor. The master bedroom (18 x 16) features a king size bed, and sofa seating ensemble. The other two large 14 x 9. 5 bedrooms are located on opposite sides of the apartment to offer complete privacy. One is furnished with Herman Miller furniture and double bed, the other with twin 19th c Empire Sleigh beds. Each bedroom has its own separate entrance to the master hall. The art deco 7 x 11 mosaic and tile bath boasts a 6' cast iron tub with both fixed and hand-held showers.

The flat has 3 opening skylights, 8 huge windows, NS exposures, storage and bedroom views overlooking the courtyards. It is wired for cable and WIFI. All utilities included. Located on an ethnically diverse, quiet, safe tree-lined street with ample street parking, easy access to all major highways and bridges. Hudson and Harlem River Greenways are less than 1/4 mile for walking, biking; restaurants, personal service places, museums and shopping nearby. City College, Columbia Presbyterian within walking distance.

We garden: nurturing the peonies brought from China as wedding gifts to our maternal great-great grandparents in 1880. We create: she is an art historian who restores fine art textiles and old houses and he creates everything from concept to product to the 'buzz' for the 'next trend' in the men's fashion industry. You'll stay in his top floor pied-à-terre since he is now often on the West coast, in HK or Boston. Yes, we love jazz: he specializes in early jump blues and the evolution of early Black rock n' roll. No, we don't cook but are very successful reservation and suggestion makers, having enjoyed the treasures of this city for the last 4 decades.

A beautiful large apartment with an extremely nice owner

Carolyn is really nice, helpful and flexible. The apartment is great - large, with a family dining table & chairs, comfortable lounge seats and big beds. The fans kept the apartment cool during hot weather (hot certainly by UK standards) and we only needed the air conditioning in short bursts. Harlem is a very different area from the city centre and a few miles out, so its much cheaper and easier to buy a 3 or 7 day metro pass. The C line subway station at 155th Street is very close and we stuck to that most of the time, the line runs down the western side of Central Park so it is easy to walk from one of the stations there across the park to the main attractions, or continue on a few stops. There is a very helpful laundromat close to 155th Street station. We didn't go to a baseball game (although a lot of people recommended it) but the Yankee Stadium is only a 15-20 minute walk from the stadium and worth seeing. Lots of churches around including one in a house further down the street so we could hear gospel singing in the evening. We didn't eat out near the apartment but there is a pizza restaurant which looks nice. Thanks for everything Carolyn.

Charming and well located

First time in NY and we loved our experience. The house is well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Very convenient located close to the subway 20 min away of major atractions and museums. Charming old house for a perfect NY stay.

Owner's Response: This was Tania's third trip to NYC and she had an agenda planned out for her family and friends that nothing short of a daily 12+ hour whirlwind expedition with enough time to shower, sleep and set off the next morning with the same exuberance. She wanted to show them everything she liked and still explore unknown to her new areas and sights. I was happy that the apartment served their needs and could get all six of them relaxed and energized enough to set off on the next day's ventures without missing a beat.

Comfortable Apartment home in New York.

The apartment was very comfortable, spacious and clean. It was as described and had all the comforts and conveniences of home. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. Carolyn had good information about the subways, restaurants and grocery stores near by. It was in upper Manhattan and a short subway ride away from everything. The owner, Carolyn, was a great communicator and responded in a very timely manner with any questions that we had. I would recommend this apartment for anyone traveling to New York.

Comfort, Convenience and Cost Efficient

This was a perfect location for a Girls Getaway. The bright , roomy apartment was a treat to discover. So many original details in the historic home and Carolyn was delighted to share its history. She was great to deal with before our arrival and gave us lots of local information to help us out during our stay.

The apartment's location is perfect for feeling like you're part of a neighbourhood and still only a few blocks to 2 of the major subway lines. Getting around the city is a breeze with an easy to purchase Metro pass.

I have already recommended her home to many friends and we would return here if the opportunity arose.

Wonderful three-bedroom flat in Manhattan

Five of us stayed at Carolyn's for a week earlier this month. Her gorgeous home is located on a quiet, tree-lined street with very attractive, well maintained, three- and four-story homes built in the 1920s . The third floor flat is beautifully furnished with three bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a wonderful dining room table, comfortable living room and very large bathroom - all decorated with art work and textiles. We were busy in the afternoons and evenings at museums, parks, the theater, restaurants and jazz clubs so really enjoyed quiet mornings at home. Carolyn is a helpful, gracious host. We all really enjoyed our stay and appreciated Carolyn's friendly manner. We look forward to future visits.

The C & A metro station (155th & St. Nicholas) is around the corner. Connects with the B & D one stop away (7 walking blocks - 5 minute walk); the 1 train is 3 blocks distance (W 157th & Broadway). Excellent bus and subway transportation (A,B,C,D,1,9) to both east and west sides and to and from all three airports; Columbus Circle is 11 minutes away and midtown is 20 minutes away via the metro located around the corner. Via metro, JF Kennedy Airport is approx. one hour, Newark approx. 1.5 hours and LaGuardia 1 hour by city bus.

The apartment is located on the norther portion of Manhattan. Midtown is 20 minutes away, downtown and Soho about 30-40 minutes. The subway runs 24 hours and returning late in the evening is a comfortable and safe commute.
