Mansion - Corigliano d'otranto Stone villa with private pool and garden

The property concern in an “Italian Masseria”** builth in the 17th restructured last year and over than 1500 square meters of garden, with a wonderful and private use pool of 40 square meters. Thanks to a wood porch in the front of the house is possible to have dinner in the open air. You can also roast your dinner using the external barbeque. The whole property is encircled with a stone wall over than 2,5 meters height that ensure complete privacy and security.
Inside the Masseria there is a big hall with a working stone and wood made fireplace and an interconnected kitchen place. A bedroom with ceiling “volta”, and a second wedding bedroom also with “volta” ceiling in original “leccese”*** stone. The wedding bedroom is supplied with a wonderful and ancient fireplace. The “Masseria” is completed by a big bathroom with shower.
*** local stone used in construction, a sort of tufa stone. Light, porous and rich of fossil remain.

Wonderful stay at fantastic farmhouse

We had a wonderful stay at Alessio’s farmhouse. It is spotlessly clean with all the amenities we expected. The location is perfect for exploring Puglia. We must thank Salvatore and Rosa for being so welcoming and friendly, they couldn’t do enough for us, and Rosa’s food is beautiful. We hope to return one day.

Fantastic stay

This is a beautiful villa and the gardens and pool are well maintained with the pool being cleaned daily. The interior is rustic and original but the bathroom is modern and clean. There are two bedrooms and the beds are comfortable. I would suggest new pillows would be in order as the ones we had were pretty poor. There is plenty of crockery and pots and pans for cooking and the kitchen is fit for purpose. Although there is a gas hob, there is no oven but it was fine for our needs. There is WiFi but it is very temperamental dependent where in the villa you are. The villa is looked after by Salvatore and his wife Rosie who visit the villa daily from their villa next door to clean the pool and remove any waste. Although they can’t speak English and our Italian was non existent, we managed to understand each other by way of a smattering of French, Spanish, google translate and sign language. You can opt for Salvatore and Rosie to make you a meal, which costs 14.5 euros per adult, which we did. The meal which included wine was lovely. Salvatore recommended a restaurant called Amelie in nearby Maglie, which was superb. The villa is in a great location being only 20 minutes or so by car from Lecce and Otranto and 45 minutes from Leuca at the very tip of the heel where we went on a boat trip. Communication was very good from Alessio and the friendly engaging nature of Salvatore and Rosie was superb. Thanks for a great stay.

Rustic oasis

We have agonised about the star rating for this property as some aspects were definitely 5 stars while others fell well short. We feel with a little bit more investment this property could easily achieve 4 to 4.5 stars. We hope our review is honest and fair and helps to inform future guests and Alessio the owner. The outside area is magnificent- 5 stars. Beautiful garden, lovely swimming pool, although no shallow end. All extremely clean and well maintained. The property is situated in a quiet area within easy driving distance of a number of towns and attractions. Nearby in Corigliano is an award winning restaurant (ask Salvatore) which is well worth a visit. The bathroom is 5 stars. Modern, well decorated, clean and plenty of hot water. The bedrooms are probably 2 to 3 stars depending on how many are in the party. Beds were comfortable although pillows were not adequate. Lumpy and thin. Access to the bathroom was via the other bedroom. The kitchen was disappointing, 2 stars, although spacious and clean, did not provide the quality I would expect when renting holiday accomodation. The equipment was old and obviously very used. There was no kettle or oven and the wooden frying pan handle allowed the pan to rotate which could have lead to a nasty accident. We like to cook and so this may not be relevant to those who like to eat out a lot. The property claims to have a washing machine but it doesn't. However Salvatore and Rosy, the caretakers are a huge plus, 5 stars++ They keep the property extremely clean and are eager to comply with any request. They provided a delicious meal on arrival for norminal price and this was far more than we could eat. They do not speak English but we managed in German and French with a smattering of Italian!! Having said all this, we had a fabulous time and were reluctant to leave. We like rustic but like a little more luxury in kitchen equipment and pillows. Finally Alessio is very easy to contact, responding quickly to any requests for information. Not having to pay the final instalment until we arrived also helped to give us peace of mind.

Our best stay in Italy

When we first arrived we were greeted by our hosts, Salvatore and Rosie. They were so delightful and welcoming despite our lack of common language. Then you see the property which was simply beautiful, homely but also elegant. The location was so central we managed to explore so much in just a few days and still had time to relax by our lovely private pool and garden. We were also offered a dinner cooked by our hosts which was delicious and they returned later to chat with us. Can’t speak highly enough of this place. But you would most definitely need a car to be able to come and go.
