About the property

Stunning views, 2 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeping 4-5

This 'home' in Tuscany is a carefully restored and enlarged farm building dating back to the 18th century. Its hilltop setting between olive groves and wheat fields, just 1.5km outside historic Montisi, gives it a unique 'away-from-it-all feeling'. Yet the hamlet's bakery, grocery shop, bar/tabac and restaurant are just a leisurely 15 min stroll away between cypresses and olive trees. Views are stunning, with the area around the private pool particularly good for enjoying sunsets.

This is not a 'develop to let' property, but a house that for seven years served as a 'home' when the owners were posted overseas and is now their holiday home.

It is arranged over three floors;

- The top floor comprises a double bed room with en suite bathroom

- The first floor mirrors the top floor, except that it is laid out as a twin bedroom, with en suite shower/bathroom

- The ground floor offers fantastic views over the rolling country side and includes a 25 X 12 ft living room with a well stocked library and fireplace, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with a beautiful breakfast terrace.

A slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

This is a most peaceful and comfortable house situated in a beautiful location. We have been coming to Tuscany on holiday for many years and this is really the best holiday home we have ever found. Adi, the owners' representative, is a fluent English speaker and is very helpful. The view from the rear of the house is outstanding and watching the changing of the light is mesmerising.

Quaint home with beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at La Cella in mid April and absolutely loved our time there! Adi, the house manager already had the heat on when we arrived. He met us there and explained everything to us. The home is beautiful and had everything we needed. The kitchen had everything including a coffee maker, juicer and a dishwasher. There was even an extra fridge in the laundry room. We spent most of our time on the back porch staring at the beautiful green hills, or watching the deer or the sheep roaming in the field below. It was so quiet there we slept great at night. And the king size bed was so comfortable! Catherine was great and responsive and sent us all our information for directions and check-in the week before our arrival. We enjoyed Montisi as well, it was about a mile drive into town. We ate at 2 of the 4 restaurants in town. We ate twice at Il Barrino and 3 times at Ritorno di Fiamma Bistro. Both restaurants had excellent food and service! We searched for weeks for the perfect place for our vacation and are so glad we found this home! We would definitely come back!

The place had everything you need. Pool was very nice. Great views. The walk in to the center of town was about a mile, but had a few nice restaurants.

Wonderful villa in spectacular countryside.

  • 5 of 5

This is without doubt the most beautiful villa we have ever stayed in.When we arrived we were knocked out by the stunning views of countryside from every angle. As my teenage son said,it was like looking at a painting which changed according to the light and time of day. There were so many lovely seating areas all with spectacular views. One of our favourites was in the hammock by the beautiful swimming pool in the shade of the olive tree.

Inside, the villa was just as impressive.Beautifully planned and all fittings of the best quality. My husband loved sitting at the huge dining table outside the sitting room, whilst I loved sitting at the round table outside the kitchen area.In the early evenings we watched wild dear in the fields as the sun set.

The were so many wonderful towns and villages to visit all so near by.My favourite was Montalcino followed by the beautiful and tranquil Sant'Antimo Abbey.

We were so grateful for the friendliness of Adi and Christine. Both were incredibly helpful.Nothing was ever too much trouble.

We loved it here so much that we have already booked it for next summer!

Thank you Catherine for a truly wonderful holiday!

I have lived and gone to heaven

  • 5 of 5

Pretty much everything was brilliant - amazing views (spotted deer and wild boar!), really appreciated the bottle of wine, the pool was really clean, Adi helpful, lovely location, lovely town, useful kitchen, great stereo, lots of places to sit and enjoy just the right amount of sun or shade throughout the day. Such a beautiful area too with some of the best food we have ever tasted

Car: recommended

Montisi is an as of yet 'undiscovered' medieval hilltop hamlet, where days and weeks are all too short. With Montisi having a bakery, grocery shop, choice of restaurants, and even a 'Cinema Paradiso', one would, in fact, not need leave Montisi at all if a book, a bottle of wine and priceless Tuscan views is your kind of holiday.

On the other hand, such world heritage sites as Pienza, Siena and Montepulciano are all within 20-30 minutes drive. Even Florence and Rome are within easy reach by car, one and two hours respectively, or by direct train from Chiusi.

Although Montisi is not an obvious beach location, a one day trip to the Tuscan coast is very doable with, for instance, Castiglione della Pescaia one and a half hours away by car.
