Problematic rental.
Property was very clean and well presented. Some quibbles which may be of no consequence to others but mattered to us: lack of a toaster; kettle was of a design for use on the hob, fortunately we brought our own electric kettle which was much quicker; there is a decent electric oven in the property but none of the pots/pans in the property are suitable for oven use; none of the pans in the property had lids, we had to cover pan in use with the base of a frying pan; wi-fi was inactive when we arrived, which was expected, but we did not anticipate a 30 minute bus ride to the nearest location of Orange and subsequent payment of 55 Euros to get a new SIM card and recharge; property has 4 single beds which are not great for adult use, would be much better if one bedroom had a double bed leaving two singles for children or juveniles.
With regard to communication/liaison with the landlord, Steven, this was very poor. The renting out of the property gives the indication of this not being a priority for Steven, rather a minor side-line which hopefully will sort itself out with the minimum of input from him. As another reviewer has commented, he is quick to respond to enquiries re the property being available but once the agreement and payment has been made there is a deathly silence. We waited patiently for Steven to be proactive and get in touch with us but time dragged on without any comeback until, with time running out, I as the tenant had to attempt contact with him to find out what the procedures were for gaining access etc, etc. I say 'attempt to contact' because as also previously said, trying to get in touch speedily with Steven is a daunting task. He will not answer his mobile (no voice mail facility either) nor speedily respond to texts, or messages sent thru VRBO. I did have more success with emailing conventionally but all in all everything had to be dragged out of him, with eventually a sense of urgency on our part. it came to the stage that one day before our departure I had to threaten to cancel our booking unless he came up with the entry code for access to the property. Hopefully this gives a sense of a stressful renting operation which could easily have been avoided by Steven taking a proactive role.
