About this property

Charmingly converted barn with pool in the Garonne Valley in a 2acre garden

This romantic 200 year old farmhouse is situated in a beautiful 3 acre garden, surrounded by ancient oak trees and sunflower fields. There is an 11mx5m swimming pool with several sitting areas to choose from, some in the shade and some in the sun. The old barn (110m²), attached to the farm where we live, has been beautifully renovated into a very well equipped apartment on two levels, having its own car park, shaded patio for barbecues and is equipped to sleep 6 people comfortably. The house is ideal for a family holiday, as there is plenty of space for children in the garden ( table-tennis, badminton, petanque, pool, ..) or suitable for a quiet holiday amongst adults (walks along the canal or in the Pyrenees mountains, Toulouse-Lautrec museum in Albi, medieval town of Carcassonne, lazing by the pool).

Mandy, Andrew, Tom and Charlie.
'We've had a wonderful week, all your hard work in making this home beautifully comfortable has not gone unnoticed ! Thank you most sincerely once again - the best holiday we've had abroad for a long time.'
Penny, Alex, Sophie, Benjamin and Janet.
' Le Mayrinet is a great place to relax and be lazy by the pool, a beautiful apartment and very helpful hosts !! Thanks again for a superb time !'
Paul, Kathie and Maya.

Golf: The region is fantastic for golfing all the year round, however, May, June, September and October, are really excellent periods of the year for golfing in this region (nice weather, not too hot and not too many people on the courses). There are numerous golf courses in the region to suit all standards of golfer. Seilh International Golf Course is the closest, being 20 minutes away, which has two 18 hole golf courses, one International Standard and one PAR 64, which is ideal for higher handicappers. Other courses which should not be missed are:- Albi Lasbordes (1h15), fantastic course AND fantastic food ! (actually my personal favourite course in the region), Teoula (40mins) good course and good food. You can find more details of these courses by checking 'guide des golfs', 'nom', and then type the name of each course to find all relevant information. However, if you need any further information, please don't hesitate to contact me. I know the courses (and others), as I'm a golfer too !

A relaxing week away in rural France
Le Mayrinet is a rural gite and was much as we expected. It is situated about a 20 minute drive away from Verdun-en- Garonne where there are two supermarkets with everything you need for your stay. However if you are looking for lots to do, then expect to have to drive some distance! All we wanted to do was relax after a long journey through France in our Vintage car and therefore the gite was perfectly situated for us. Kevin welcomed us and showed us around the property emphasising that if there was anything we needed just to get in touch. After 24 hours we had made the house our home finding all the equipment we needed for our stay. Every evening we ate outside as we were lucky to have dry, warm weather other than on the first day of our stay when it rained. Although I hadn't appreciated it from the description of the property, the shower room with the second toilet is on the ground floor but this wasn't a problem for us. The "master" bedroom is spacious, the children's room is small as is the second bedroom. We had travelled with our son, daughter in law and 9 year old grandaughter and there was room enough for the five of us. Doubtless the star of the show is the pool - it is a rare find in gites like this and we have stayed in many! It gets the sun all day and there are sunbeds for everyone. We spent many hours relaxing around the pool, playing table tennis and soaking up the sun. In summary, if you want to stay in a peaceful rural location in a traditionally rustic French gite, then Le Mayrinet could be what you are looking for. There are fruit trees in the garden and many birds visit. However if you want a modern property, with fast internet and lots to do every day then you may need to look elsewhere!!

Lagraulet-Saint-Nicolas Le Mayrinet
Our welcoming host Kevin was on hand to show us round the property, It’s a peaceful, quiet location away from the crowds so if you’re after a relaxing time it’s perfect. Fairly large grounds surround the gite so you can wander and watch the birds or play games (hide and seek and footy golf were firm favourites with our kids lol) BBQs are a must on the patio, but the star of the show is the excellent pool area where we spent a lot of time. It is shared with the owner (who was very discreet in the time we were both there) but we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves whilst he was travelling away for the majority of our stay. It’s kid friendly with an alarm for potential fall ins so perfect for the little ones. You can also travel to nearby Toulouse etc so there are days out to be had, we recommend Animaparc for young kids. Only 15 mins away (picnic friendly to avoid the queues for food as the snack bar wasn’t the quickest) Fab couple of weeks and highly recommend the owner and property.

Little paradise
Kevin was an excellent host,he was very helpful throughout, from booking to arrival. He explained everything clearly on the first day. The gite was well equipped , spacious ,comfortable and clean. We used the terrace and bbq everyday , made he most of the hammock ( very peaceful for afternoon nap), ping pong table , pétanque and rackets. The property is very peaceful and quiet. But the best thing about it, is the pool, great size ,child friendly ,so much that the kids grew gills! We particularly loved swimming at night ( lights off) under the stars. We will be coming back Thank you again for a wonderful two weeks Sophie and Jeremy

Lovely pool away from it all
Kevin is a pleasant and welcoming host who responded quickly to queries and was very helpful in alerting us to a night market one night. The star of this holiday is the pool and garden, which is lovely, and we had it to ourselves for the whole week. The accommodation is tastefully decorated and cool in hot weather. It is also well supplied with soap, loo roll, dishwasher tabs, washing powder etc. A downside is that it smells of damp. Some details listed are out of date, notably you are a good 10 min drive from shops or restaurants as the local shop closed some time back. (NB there is a supermarket open on sunday mornings but nothing for sunday evening, although in the summer season, Chez Annie does open on sunday eves - ignore trip advisor). 'Pool towels' were hand towels, the bunk bed room is just those and not in addition to 2 singles, and 'pantry items' is oil, tea, coffee, salt and pepper. This is a rural location, so a lovely get-away-from-it-all retreat. Other than local markets (there is a very helpful list in the gite with at least one every day) and Animaparc (good for younger children) you are looking at 30-60mins+ drive to get to things to do other than local walks. Toulouse (most of an hour into the centre) offers many opportunities though, we can thoroughly recommend the Natural history museum, Cite de l'espace and Musee des Agustins for starters.
