Ideal for a relaxing holiday, amazing outdoor spaces in gated gardens + pool

El Espuela (The Spur) is a luxury villa set in 5000m2 of gardens and fruit trees, it has a 12 metre heated pool with a integeral jacuzzi seating area, and child safety cover. The villa is set high on a ridge with magnificent views: to the North - the rolling foothills of the Almijara Sierra mountains and the ancient, white washed village of Frigiliana, To the West - the Mediterranean and the fishing village of Nerja, now a sought after tourist destination. The villa and grounds have recently undergone a massive reform, providing comfort and modern facilities. The four en-suite bedrooms are situated in two self contained, apartments, giving extra space, and privacy for family groups. There is an outside kitchen, lounge, dining, bar area providing dining facilities for 8+ This facility can be closed down and heated in colder months, with that and the heated pool, and underfloor heating throughout the villa it makes a good all year round holiday retreat. As you can see from the photos, the apartments and landscaping have been finished to a very high standard, creating a spacious oasis for an amazing holiday. The owners have an apartment at the villa but have their own space, so you can see as much - or as little of them as you wish. The two rental apartments are situated on the ground floor next to the pool and sun terrace Which is cleaned daily normally before you rise.

About Alan Egginton

We live in Preston, but spend a lot of our time at our holiday villa. Christine, originally from, Devon retired from her bridal retail shop in 2008. I am originally from Stoke on Trent, after spending many years in the army with Christine at my side. I then started a property management and development business, I retired in 2011. We love the countryside and spend as much time outside as we can, but the UK weather forced us indoors much too often, so we decided on a holiday home in Spain. After researching online for 6 months, and then 5 visits and a few thousand miles searching southern Spain, we eventually found this perfect location. The villa had been empty for some time, and with a pretty much blank canvas and 4 years work we now have our dream holiday home. If you choose to spend your holiday here we are sure you will agree it is a stunning location with excellent accommodation.

We will most likely be at the villa during your stay but have our own space, so you can see as much, or as little of us as you wish, but always have the peace of mind that we will be there for any advice or requests you may have, we ensure that the pool and sun terrace is kept clean and you have clean towels etc, usually done before you rise,

We have two small, friendly dogs, Molly and Willow who may visit you now again.

The villa has just had a total reform, it is fresh and clean, with all new quality furniture throughout, new bedding, bed linen, and towels etc.

The huge sun terrace with its mountain and ocean wiews and tropical planting is probably the most outstanding feature, there are various seating areas to suite your . 8 modern, adjustable, deep cushioned sun loungers with soft towelling covers are situated around the pool, with parasols and table/lockers, large pool towels are provided and regularly changed.

The outside Kitchen - Lounge - Dining - Bar area is a great space, It is shaded under a thatched roof and has retractable floor to ceiling blinds all the way around, it is equipped with cooling fans, or heating for when it is closed down in the cooler months. There is a large screen TV, Apple compatible, Kodi installed,1000s films, channels, wifi 20 Mbps*, Bluetooth speakers, Apple music.

A large dining table for 8 + is provided with large cushioned chairs, there is also a large lounge seating arrangement with a table.

The Kitchen is fully equipped -including dishwasher, oven, hob, chip fryer, microwave, coffee maker, fridges, freezer, etc,etc, there is also a large charcoal BBQ, and wood fired Bread Oven, these can be lit and prepared for you upon request, the kitchen comes equipped with cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils.

The Bar, is stocked with a large selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, it is self service and run on the basis of a "Honesty Bar" the prices are reasonable and you can pay as you take the drinks, or put them on a chit and pay when you leave, we support a local charity for abandoned dogs and ALL PROFITS GO TO THIS CHARITY we have receipts available. It is possible to stock the bar with your own drinks if you wish.

And yet another lounge area! This is the place to chill, and get away from the noisy lot in the other lounge! it is out of the way with a Moroccan theme, comfortable seating, fish pond, waterfall, and soft plantin

The villa has been themed as "away from it a all" due to its location and natural tranquil setting, however it is only 9 miles, ( 15 - 20 minutes ) from the coast and all its attractions.

Wow What a Place!

So...we've just returned from a 7 night stay 12-19th May 2018. Not too sure what I say will do this place justice!

The hosts, Alan & Christine were absolutely amazing, from the minute we booked this trip they were accessible and amenable, answering any questions or queries both pre trip and during our stay. Whilst they live on site you'd hardly know they were there (apart from the odd guest appearance from Willow or Mollie the dogs). Nothing was too much trouble.

Alan & Christine have without doubt thought of everything you can possibly need whilst staying there. The indoor and outdoor spaces are finished to a high standard, with fantastic mountain and sea views. Even though there was 7 adults and 1child (ranging from 2-70 years old), there is plenty of space so you could always 'escape' if you need to!

The 2 apartments are tastefully furnished and well equipped, with every bedroom having en-suite.

The pool area is awesome, the pool is heated and was always a very nice ambient temperature and our little 2 year old lad was in his element. The outdoor dining area with bread/pizza oven, charcoal grill, oven, hob and gas bbq was an absolute winner, it was probably best bit about the villa (as hard as it is to pick 1 thing). We enjoyed family breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks, suppers and most importantly a few beers and glasses of wine in there. We enjoyed it so much so that we spent very little time inside the apartments. The honesty bar is a great idea, although we did buy our own alcohol and soft drinks, inevitably we did dip in to the bar on a daily basis.

The grounds are pristine and set out beautifully. I can't say enough about this place. I guess if you're reading this and thinking about booking, then I suggest you just do it, and go see for yourself. I promise, you won't be disappointed.

We were all sad to leave with our little lad even proclaiming he "wanted to live there"

Perfect holiday accommodation in a stunning setting

We received the warmest of welcomes to this luxury accommodation. The facilities were immaculately clean. The pool a perfect temperature! We could not fault it! Alan and Chrissy went over and above to ensure every need was met and we can thoroughly recommend it! We will be back! It really was home from home with all the latest technology and hi spec finish to the villa. The views were outstanding and the local are has plenty of places to explore. A fantastic holiday for all ages and a perfect place to relax and enjoy precious family time 👍🏻

Even though the pictures are amazing it still doesn't do this villa any justice - wow!

When we first arrived we were greeted by Alan, Christine and Molly the dog (who I will really miss) and were shown the apartments which are really modern, well kept and full of everything you need. Then we were shown the outside area - it was just amazing - every day we all just stood and looked at our surroundings and thought how lucky we were to find such a retreat. It's so hard to put into words just how amazing this place is. We spent every night in the outside kitchen which had a tv and music system. The men enjoyed the BBQ and we enjoyed the views with a dip into the honesty bar! One night we saw two shooting stars so magical. Our daughter learnt how to swim this week and the pool is so well kept and nice and warm! Anything you need Alan and Christine can help with but only if you ask them. Thank you for having us!

the eastern end of the Costa del Sol a 45 minute drive on the motorway from the Costa del Sol airport(formally Pablo Picasso airport). Frankly most visitors turn right at the airport to the glamour and glitz of Marbella and the Golden Mile, only the lucky ones turn left to the picturesque area known as the “Axarquia” an area comprising of 32 municipalities including Nerja.

Nerja is a quaint low rise fishing village with a resident population of around 25,000. Once a sleepy fishing village, the town has developed and extended in a very sympathetic way retaining it’s unmistakably Andalucian feel. Café bars, shops, narrow, winding streets and whitewashed houses with wrought iron terraces overflowing with geraniums are plentiful. At the heart of Nerja is its spectacular Balcón de Europa, a magnificent palm tree lined promontory with sweeping panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the small coves and beaches to the east and west.

From the Balcon head east beside the sea along the fashionable Calle Carabeo , Continue walking east to Burriana Beach with its many bars, restaurants and water sports.

One of Nerja´s major attractions is the weather. The area boasts “The best climate in Europe”. In the summer it´s usually around 30º C plus and in the winter usually around 15º - 20º C with lots of sun even in the middle of winter. This January the sea temperature was around 14ºC which compares favourably with many Northern European summer sea temperatures of 12ºC. It is not unusual to see people sunbathing on the beaches at least 9 months of the year.

Nerja is not the classic Spanish sea side resort boasting a long promenade of first line properties, in fact only a small proportion of its beaches are property dominated. In total there are no less than 9 beaches from Playazo in the west to Burriana in the east.
