A warm, welcoming lounge/dining room leads onto an attractive balcony with beach & sea views where you can enjoy al fresco dining or sip a cool drink. Fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, oven & ceramic hob, & adjacent utility/laundry area with washing machine & drying facilities. Beautifully furnished large apartment with side sea views, centrally situated.

We were over the moon with this apartment which is the best furnished and equipped we have stayed in over many years of holidaying abroad. Around 25 yds from the beach it is in a secure, mainly residential, block with a lift.

We went as a couple, stayed for a month and could happily have stayed longer. It is a real home from home. There was no problem in having family over to stay for a few days.

The apartment is very spacious and the layout is good with 2 bath/ shower rooms, a separate kitchen, and the bedrooms on their own arm of the corridor away from the lounge. It has side sea views from the spacious balcony which opens off the living room.There is also a large roof terrace.

Furnishings are in Spanish style and are good quality. There is everything you could wish for in terms of kitchen equipment including kettle, toaster, coffee maker and a washing machine in a separate laundry area. There is ample cutlery and crockery. The living room has books, DVD's, CD's, games, magazines, English TV, and helpful information on the area left by the owners. Hairdryer and non slip bath mats in the bath/ shower rooms and bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided and changed weekly.

La Herradura is a lovely laid back village/ town in a horseshoe shaped bay. If you are wanting a nice family resort this may well be the place for you.There are bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets nearby and the main square is just around the corner. The taxi rank is at the bottom of the street. Along the seafront there is a large childrens playground and a daily fresh food market. There are also outdoor gyms on the beach. In addition there is a dive centre and windsurfing but these were closed when we were there in February.

The bus network is reliable and cheap. Getting around from here is easy, even without a car, although obviously a car would enable you to do more. Having said that we went to Malaga and Granada on the bus as well as places in between. e.g. Nerja 15 mins, Almunecar 10 mins, Salobrena 25 mins.

Booking this apartment was easy and John and Dorothy were really helpful. There is a local agent who speaks fluent English just 100yds from the apartment who was also very helpful. She even came and changed a failed light bulb herself within 2 hrs of us reporting it.

Usually we don't go to the same place more than once but we would happily return here, and probably will. Overall a great holiday in a super apartment.

Lovely holiday let

Fabulous week in beautiful apartment in Andalucia

We had a fabulous week in Dorothy and John's beautiful apartment, and would definitely recommend it. Everything was clear and well-organised right from the start. We felt at home straight away thanks to the welcome guide which explained how everything worked in the apartment (wifi, washing machine, tv, etc.), as well as giving lots of tips about where to eat and what to do. The apartment is very well-equipped, spotlessly clean and just across the road from the beach. We will certainly miss our leisurely breakfasts on the balcony! La Herradura is a beautiful seaside resort with a real mix of friendly locals and foreign holidaymakers. There is a wide range of tapas bars and restaurants for a variety of tastes and budgets. It's in a great location for sightseeing; we alternated lazy days on the beach with trips to Granada / La Alhambra (1 hour away), Cordoba (2.5 hours), Motril (30 mins) and Almuñecar (10 mins). All in all, we had a perfect holiday and can't wait to go again.

Perfect Apartment in a Great Location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at John & Dorothy's lovely apartment. It is very spacious, spotlessly clean and has a lovely character/feel about it. The balcony is in a perfect spot to get the sun for most of the day and with under a minutes walk to the beach and area with all of the lovely restaurants it was in a perfect location. Picking up and dropping off the keys was very easy and it was great to have parking underneath the apartment so there was no worry about finding somewhere to park the car. La Herradura is a lovely town and we hope to return again soon. A trip to Granada and The Alhambra Palace was only about an hour away and so it was nice to have an overnight visit there within easy reach. Many thanks John & Dorothy - hope to be back again in the near future!

Excellent apartment - perfect location

We have visited the Nerja/La Herradura area of Spain many times. The coastal and inland scenery is stunning and the local people very friendly. La Herradura itself is still very Spanish. Out of season it is peaceful and uncrowded.

The apartment more than met our needs and expectations. It is Spanish in style, spacious, extremely well equipped (including free wi-fi) and very clean. It is situated just across the road from the large beach and is within two or three minutes walking distance of the local market, bakery, small supermarkets and post office. The larger towns of Nerja and Almuñécar are withun 15-20 minutes driving distance - both are delightful. There are smaller, more remote beaches situated between La Herradura and Nerja.

There is a variety of excellent and good value restaurants/tapas bars in La Herradura - both along the seafront and in the centre of the village - and all within walking distance. The difficulty lies in choosing which one to visit!

Dorothy and John were helpful and efficient during the booking process and subsequently. There is a local agent nearby should any problems arise. We will certainly be returning to the apartment when we next visit La Herradura.

'We thought we had died & gone to Heaven!' La Herradura is a friendly Spanish village named for its horseshoe-shaped bay & mile long crescent beach. By land, it is surrounded by green & verdant hills with the high Sierra mountains beyond. Originally a fishing village, it remains unspoilt by high-rise building. The apartment is central with the beach across the road, shops & supermarket within 2 minutes walk & the daily market, square & charming church less than 5 minutes away. The wide variety of restaurants & bars include several 'chiringuitos' actually on the beach & 'tapas' are still served free with each round of drinks! By car, Almunecar (5 mins) has 'big town' shopping, Nerja (15 mins) is a popular resort & skiing in the Sierra Nevada (90 mins) runs from December to April. Stunning scenery, traditional villages & fascinating history are all within 1 hour, as are Malaga & Granada airports with budget flights from many parts of UK & Europe & good, low-cost car hire.

Other Activities: 3 golf courses within 30 mins drive.
