One week in wonder
Each of us loved the property - exciting to be staying in a real c.astle The rooms were lovely - only drawbacks were the main kitchen being small and unsafe at cooker, the rooms in Les Gardes affected by noise of chairs scraping on terrace above. Shower room in Les Loges very small - also kitchen. Otherwise lovely and Joel very kind

Wonderful Property
My family and friends stayed here for 2 weeks and we cannot say enough about the setting, beauty and history of the place. It was extremely well equipped and the owners, who live in a part of the old Chateau, are discreetly there to help and answer any questions. Prior to arrival we also received a lot of help from Joel (owner) regarding caterers (which we used for 5 dinners), babysitters and other facts about the village. Chateauneuf de Gadagne has shops where one can buy most things and there is a supermarket about 4 kilometres away in Thor. A superb Michelin listed restaurant is just 5 minutes walk away and there are other good restaurants in the village and area. The facility has a superb pool and children spent hours playing there. Avignon is 20 minutes away by car and there are lots of other place to see within an easy drive. We had bikes and Chateauneuf de Gadagne is connected to a series of bike routes on quiet roads that take one to Thor, Isle sur la Sorgue and Fontaines de Vaucluse - great biking. Lots of wineries within a few kilometres where can taste and buy wine. A wonderful property where we spent a wonderful vacation.

Why they chose this property

In order to keep renovating an important group of buildings and walls and to make it useful, pleasant and liveable.

What makes this property unique

This ancient place has been chosen for its location and its unobstructed views. It belonged to great figures (including the Prince of Orange, one of the most important lords of Europe during its period, founder of the famous Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert Abbey, cousin of Charlemagne) and it was a refuge for local people during some troubled periods. Despite the destructions caused by villagers during the Revolution, it stands and impresses with its façade, its imposing arches and its architectural details including its “coquille”. All this can be seen from several km away, decorating with its silhouette the old village that the château, former fortress, brought to life.
