About this property

Secluded Sandy Beach All To Yourself! Panoramic Ocean and Mountain views.

Thank you for your interest in our home. Typically we book one week stay minimum; Saturday to Saturday. For your health safety, our cleaner provides “enhanced” cleaning. Please don’t hesitate to email us with any questions.
Our VRBO rental includes most i.e., approximately 2800 square feet of our home: large kitchen, living room, spacious master bedroom with ensuite, second bedroom with adjacent bathroom; all on the main floor oriented towards the ocean, in addition to the spacious downstairs TV room (65" TV), adjacent office with a queen sofa bed (downstairs), and laundry room. Guests can enjoy the private use of all the extensive grounds (front and back), all decks and our pathway to the beach. See photos.
There is an independent, self contained studio suite downstairs, off the laundry room, with its own private and separate entrance which we reserve for our use. We often head to a summer cabin on the West coast off Tofino during the summer months and come and go from this suite. If we are in the suite, we are very mindful of our guests’ privacy.
By choosing our home, (7 day minimum: Sat. to Sat.) you and your family will enjoy the countless recreational activities (sailing, kayaking, fishing, golfing, tennis, hiking, biking etc.) of the Comox Valley from the comfort of our spacious home located on a very private 1.25 acres at the tip of Cape Lazo, just 8 kilometres from Comox.
Its two-level, post and beam design with natural cedar ceilings creates a warm ambiance for everyone. On the main floor, expansive picture windows provide panoramic views of the Salish Sea, numerous islands, and the magnificent snow-capped mountain ranges of both Vancouver Island and the mainland.
Gather around the island in the large, well equipped kitchen with adjacent deck and BBQ.
Catch the sunrise while sipping your morning coffee on the front east facing deck overlooking the sandy beach below, and delight in the abundant marine life: eagles, herons, sea lions, otters, seals, or the occasional pod of orcas or humpbacks.
From the deck, follow the private path that very gently winds to the secluded sandy beach where one can walk for miles or explore the tidal pools. The trail takes two minutes down to the beach and three minutes back up to the deck.
For the swimmer, in the summer, the water is warm, especially when the high tide comes in over the hot sand during the day. It's considered one of the best beaches in the Comox Valley, and since the public access is a fairly long walk away, it's very secluded and very safe for children. Also very close (about 3 min by car) is Kye Bay Beach, a popular beach, well known for its sandy tidal flats.
Relax with a good book in the shade of the fruit trees in the orchard, or get some exercise playing bocce or croquet (sets provided) in our private back yard bordered by tall rhododendrons, and often frequented by deer and the odd bunny rabbit.
Enjoy the evening sunset over Mt. Washington (watch it from the sunset deck off the Master bedroom), then return to the ocean deck for the moon rise over the water as the cruise ships bound for Alaska go by.
We book Saturday to Saturday and accept a variety of payment options. You can fly directly to Comox and rent a car at the airport, or fly to Vancouver, take the ferry to Departure Bay or Duke Point, Nanaimo and drive to Comox (approx. 1.5 hrs by car) Please email us for more information. Our cleaner provides a mid stay clean for guests booking for two weeks at the same cost as the check out cleaning.

Beautiful location on a magical island
The property sits above the beach on Kye Bay. The location enjoys spectacular views across to the mainland, with beautiful sunrises and the ever changing tidal shoreline. The balcony overlooking the beach is a wonderful place to sit, relax or eat. The beach is accessible in a few minutes down a short path. The beach itself is clean and empty of people, aside from a few neighbours walking dogs occasionally. The sea is home to many seals, and the shoreline is home to pelicans, eagles and all manner of birds. The house itself is fabulous, spotlessly clean, with big windows facing the sea. The kitchen is great, with a huge selection of herbs and spices. There is a good sized patio area and gas barbeque, should you prefer cooking outside. Nearby there are opportunities to kayak, watch whales, mountain bike, walk to lakes and mountains, or you can just relax at home. Dale and Don are fantastic hosts. They really make you feel like you're in a home from home. We will be back.

A little slice of paradise.
There are so many positives about this rental that I can't possibly list all of them. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Don and we hit it off right away. Later Dale stopped by and we talked with her for a bit. What a delightful couple. Although they stayed in their attached suite for a couple of days they were not intrusive, in fact, we felt comfortable knowing they were nearby. Later they left for their cabin so we were all alone. What a lovely house with a spectacular view. The house was immaculate and obviously well cared for. The ocean view was amazing with Alaskan cruise ships cruising by almost every night. The peace and tranquility were so delightful. Even though the airport is right behind the house I never found it to be bothersome. I actually enjoyed watching the infrequent passenger planes fly over the house when they were landing, it was never too loud. The town of Comox was also very welcoming. Everyone we met was friendly and we felt at home in the community. This visit was everything we could have asked for and exceeded our expectations. I could go on and on with many superlatives but all I need to sum up the trip are the words excellent and amazing.

Comox Stay
We were very fortunate to meet Dale and Don. They were delightful and made our transition into their home very easy. Their home had everything that we needed and more. The location was awesome with access to a vast secluded beach at low tide.

My husband and I are retired teachers who have lived in the Comox Valley since 1973. We love the area and really enjoy all the recreational activities at our doorstep. We have raised our family here and can't imagine living anywhere else. Although we love to travel, our favourite place to be is home. We live in a very special place and are happy to share it with guests from our home province and from all over the world.

Why they chose this property

Our property offers stunning views, sunrise over the ocean and sunset over the mountains, complete privacy, a huge yard, decks all across the ocean side of the house, and a sunset deck with garden, mountain and ocean views off the master bedroom. From the deck overlooking the ocean, a gentle trail leads to a secluded sandy beach that goes for miles. It is great for walking, swimming, and exploring the marine life.

What makes this property unique

The sandy beach below our home is considered to be one the best in the Comox Valley. The water is warm for swimming and deepens gradually making it safe for children. As the tide lowers, a reef is exposed providing the opportunity to further explore marine life. Eagles, ravens, whales, seals, and dolphins share the neighbourhood. Kye Bay Beach, with a play area for children, is minutes away by car. It is also walkable by beach from the foot of our trail that gently zigzags down the bank from our home. We have a huge, private back yard for the kids to run around safely, and there are decks with ocean, mountain, flower garden views all around the house: 360 degree views with both the sunrise and the sunset. We are lucky to live in a very special spot in the Comox Valley, and are happy to share so you can make wonderful memories of a great vacation with your family and friends.
