A lovely unique experience
Firstly, Sophie was so welcoming and couldn't do enough to assist us. On top of this, we were touched by her generosity in the gifts of food and wine which she had left for us. She met us and took our luggage to the house whilst we parked the car in the village car park for which she gave us a weekly pass.
The house is very special, on four floors, with a unique character we shall not forget. Waking on a sunny Sunday morning and seeing stunning rooftop views over the village was amazing. We particularly liked the kitchen, with its character and direct access to the garden. It's very well equipped and user friendly. Sophie's generosity was evident throughout the house - we wanted for nothing.
The streets of St Cirque are steeply graded which kept us fit and allowed us to eat lots of ice cream! It's a beautiful village with so much character and history. There are lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The people are very friendly. There is no bakery as such but a bread depot, selling baguettes and delicious croissants and cakes (open from 9 am).
The church is used for concerts etc. and we enjoyed attending one which was excellent, being a piano and accordion duo.
There are boat trips on the river along to the next village, taking in delightful scenery, especially the unique rock formations and caves. You can do a round trip or walk back along the tow path with its overhanging cliff shelter. Cahors is about an hour away and worth a visit.
Altogether, a delightful stay and highly recommended.
