Overview

About the property

We've converted this 18century barn into a stunning 1 bedroom/ensuit apartment

The Conkers is a stunning 1 bedroom apartment in a quite rural hamlet in the Derbyshire countryside. It's joined to our grade 11 listed farmhouse, however, it's totally independent and has its own entrance and seating area in Chestnut Farms beautiful garden. The large living area has everything to make our guests stay extremely comfortable including a 42" T, DVD with a selection of DVDs, freeview, ipod station with radio, electric log effect fire, central heating, fully equipped kitchen with electric hob and oven, toaster, electric kettle, microwave and all utensils. The bedroom has a kingsize bed with memory foam mattress and fitted wardrobes. The newly refurbished ensuite consists of electric shower, toilet, washbasin and shaver point. Also for guests use, there is a safe, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Outside guests have a table and chairs where they can sit and enjoy the idyllic garden with a glass of wine or cup of tea after a full day exploring the Derbyshire countryside. Outside is a small laundry room with washing machine and storage for bikes and muddy boots. There is off road parking which is secured through automated gates. The White Hart Inn and resturant is a two minute walk along the lane where you will experience a good meal.

About Mrs Gill Allsop

My husband and I bought Chestnut Farm in 1985 where we brought our two daughters up. It is a grade 11 listed building and was in need of renovation . The project took several years to complete but after all the hard work it was worth it. When our children left home we decided that Chestnut Farm was too big for the two of us so we decided to turn the barn into a one bedroom holiday let. We have now been letting The Conkers for 13 years and during that time we have met so many lovely guests from all around the world and closer to home. Many of our guest return again and again.

Mrs Gill Allsop purchased this apartment in 1985

Why Mrs Gill Allsop chose South Wingfield

The Conkers is an ideal location if you are wanting a quite and scenic place to stay close to Derbyshires wonderful attractions. We have been here for 33yrs and still enjoy every aspect of the area as much as we did when we first moved here. We are sure you will too.

What makes this apartment unique

Here at The Conkers you are surrounded by beautiful countryside. There's the White Hart Inn that serves good food only a 2 minute walk along the lane and you don't even have to move your car!. I am in the interiors business, therefore, The Conkers is furnished to a very high standard to create a cosy, rustic yet stylish accomodation.

Exactly what I was looking for

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was very charming, right out of a book. The owners were available if we needed anything, but not at all obtrusive. There's a binder containing information on all the things that can be done in the area and how to go about it. The White Hart Inn was a 2 minute walk and is a lovely way to start and end the day, although our kitchen was ready to go if I was inclined. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to escape the city and reset the mind.

  • 5 of 5

The property was done to a perfect standard and was completely clean and comfortable. The host was friendly and we had everything we needed. It is a lovely place, perfect for 2 people. We easily drove from the property to the main walks across the peak district. I would definitely recommend this property.

superb

  • 5 of 5

The conkers is a wonderful tastefully decorated apartment. It exceeded our expectations and was clean and immaculately presented. We had an extremely comfortable and relaxing stay and thoroughly enjoyed the setting...Gil'ls garden is just beautiful. The apartment is bigger than it looks from the pictures and is very well equipped and has everything one could need for a relaxing holiday. Gill and her family are very friendly and helpful There is a pub which serves delicious food all day two minutes walk from the farmhouse. If you are looking for a comfortable relaxing stay in the Derbyshire countryside I would recommend the Conkers. You will love it!
