APARTMENTS MARCASTEL is a private complex with several of the apartments rented out for holidays. Situated in a quiet area of Playa Blanca, yet only a few minutes walk from the beautiful Dorada beach, the Rubicon Marina and the Central Avinada, with their many fine restaurants, bars and shopping.

Marcastel is therefore ideally situated to relax away from it all yet still enjoy all the amenities of the resort without the need to drive.

It is about 35 minutes from the airport by taxi or car. Alternatively there is a half hourly bus service direct from the airport to Playa Blanca Bus Station. (Less than 3 Euros per person.) with a Taxi from the bus station to the apartment 4 Euros.

ACCOMODATION:

This comfy, bright, spacious well equipped first floor apartment, comprises of: Large lounge, with dinning area off.

Fully equipped kitchen with full oven, fridge-freezer & microwave.

1 double bedroom.

Bathroom with shower and washing machine.

Large balconies to front & rear with views to the Ajaches Mountains, both offer ample space to relax, dine or take advantage of private sun bathing from dawn till dusk.

Playa Blanca is the most southerly resort on Lanzarote with views across to Fuerteventura, (only a mere 11 Km by ferry, which leaves from the harbor several times a day) It is beautiful and relaxed, with a delightful promenade, interesting shops and superb restaurants within ten minute walk from the apartment.

Take a walk by the sea. A paved promenade now runs for approximately 4 miles along the length of the resort, from the new marina to east, taking in the harbour and continuing out to the light house on the western point.

Walk or drive a little further east and enjoy the white sandy beaches of Papagayo

A drive up to Femes early evening not only rewards you with good food, the view is awesome.

If its fish takes your fancy then it is well worth the drive to the village of El-Golfo, again best early evening to appreciate the colours & spectacle of the landscape, ocean & sun sets.

It is an excellent base for sight seeing and has many advantages for those looking for sun, sea and sand with a variety of beaches close to the apartment, said to be some of the best on the island.

It is an excellent base for the more energetic, the resort offers a range of activities including cycling, diving, sailing, water sports, tennis, 2 golf course, walking etc.

The jeep safari is a great way to see the island.

Timafaya: (Fire Mountains)

Fifty square kilometres of volcanoes and lava fields have

been turned into a national park

Coaches take you across the volcanic landscape.

Cesar Manrique Foundation,

The famous artist Cesar Manrique, Insistent on a blend with environment, had a big influence on the development of the island. A legacy of his works is to be found all around the island.

The house in Tahaiche on the site of 5 volcanic bubbles, holds a stunning collection of his paintings, drawings, plans and photographs.

The Cactus Garden towards the north is deigned to display over 1,400 different species.

Los Jamos Del Agua: A pre-historic volcanic irruption with natural caves having roofless bubbles of lava and a beautiful underground lake. Here he created a setting of artistically arranged flora with a complex of restaurants, bars and concert cave with wonderful acoustics.

Mirador Del Rio: Yet another of his creations. From the top of a cliff hundreds of meters above sea level, is a viewing point. The views over the island of Graciosa are simply breathtaking.

Arrecife,

The capital political and commercial centre.

Meander through the streets and find that quaint little shop, or stop off at one of the many street café’s and bars and just watch the world go by while the ladies take in a little retail therapy.

Museums and art galleries can be found in the old fort at the harbour entrance.

Puerto-Del-Carmen,

The main resort offers 12 kilometres of sandy beach and rocky coves. The hub of the islands nightlife with bars restaurants clubs and shops galore. It now also bosts the latest Tieas 18 hole golf course.

Costa Teguise,

The second resort, long sandy beaches, plenty of shops bars and restaurants. Wind surfing centre.

About Beryl Harrison

Our first visit to Lazoarote was twenty one years ago, when traveling from the Airport to our accommodation in the Old town of Puerto Del Carmen "Stunning scenery, no high rise buildings, everything clean and bright, all topped off with a a view over the bay and a magnificent Sunset" I instantly fell in love with Lanzarote.

It was on that very first visit that we put down a deposit on an apartment in Puerto Del Carmen which we took over six months later and where we spent many memorable holidays.

Playa Blanca had began to develop at a pace and we found ourselves spending more time there and when they began building the new Marina we decided to look for a property close by and the rest is history.

Cycles etc are available for hire locally. The Sun Royal complexe is just accross the road with comunal swimming pool, pool bar and small super market which is ideal for fresh baked bread, water & milk. A larger Super market is sittuated only 500m down the road. There is also a pool available at Marina Rubicon, available for SWIMMING or just general lounging and sunbathing.

apt stuffy needs ceiling fan or air conditioning very noisy road for sleeping in twin room

On arriving at apt easy access and at first apt seemed good but soon had trouble with fridge not working and the oven also in the evening noise from the main road and sun royal hotel directly across the road made it difficult to sleep tried the other room but the noise from the fridge/freezer echoed through the bedroom wall as light sleepers didn't have a good nights rest that oaps need

Owner's Response: Gordon, We find it incomprehensible that if the cooker & the fridge were not working correctly, you should chose to ignore both the information sheet sent to you & the laminated welcome letter left by Lynn & Jim both clearly stating that should there be a problem you should ring them or ourselves as it is important to us that if things go wrong they are put right as soon as possible. On receiving your review Lynn went to the apartment to check. Judging by the state of the cooker & the fridge you had made good use of both in your 7 night stay & having cleaned them they were all working. The motor on the fridge will run consistently if the door is over loaded & becomes ajar. To this end there is a notice on the door stating please ensure door is securely shut. To vibrate through the wall the fridge would need to be in contact with it which it isn’t. Being 1st floor all windows & doors have catches and there is a security grill on the only opening accessible from ground level. Any Ceiling fan or air conditioning would make far more noise than a fridge. A floor mounted fan can be made available on request. Playa Blanca although one of the quieter resorts is after all a holiday resort & Hotels do put on entertainment but everything MUST finish by 11pm. Perhaps some should consider not taking holidays at busy popular times particularly School Half-term. Just glad our apartment meets the needs of the majority of our guests all of which we thank for their positive reviews.

Everything we could of wished for

We hired a car and found the directions provided worked really well and, as a bonus, there is plenty of parking available by the complex. We arrived around 10pm and Lynn (who looks after the place on behalf of Phil and Beryl) had left the outside light on so it was really easy and safe to navigate the steps. We were not disappointed when we entered the apartment, it is kept beautifully clean and tidy, everything you could possibly need is available and it's bright and airy. The balconies are great for catching the sun, so you can have your meals whilst still topping up your tan! The apartment, for us, is well positioned as it is just a short 10/15 minute walk to Dorada beach and the promenade. Once on the promenade you can turn left and walk to Marina Rubicon or right to head into the main town with its many restaurants, bars and shops. However, we ate at Casale Franco in the Papagayo Centre just by Dorada beach and had a fabulous view of the coastline and a wonderful meal. As we had a car we drove to the SuperDino in Playa Blanca (near the bus station) and found it to have the best selection and better price than the more local HyperDino Express and Spar. If we went back to Playa Blanco we would definitely see if the apartment was available to rent. The support and information provided by Phil & Beryl was brilliant and Lynn took great care of us whilst we were there.
